  1. A kid I watched grow up in my hometown church was hanging a treestand last weekend by himself. He fell and broke three ribs and several vertebrae. And to make it worse, he didn't tell anyone where he was in the woods. Took the Search & Rescue hours to find him after dark. Needless to say, there will be no deer season for him. So lucky to be alive. ALWAYS tell someone where you will be! ALWAYS get help hanging a stand! ALWAYS strap in on the way up and on the way down!
  2. If those were my only 2 choices.........muzzy.
  3. I havn't tried the shrink types yet. I use a Bitz Jig and I reeeeally like it. Glad I spent the xtra money to get that one.
  4. Sorry to hear about your tags. Nice gator though. Kinda wish we had them up here, last time I was in Texas I aquired a taste for gator meat. Good luck in court, no matter what the fine will be, you can hold your head up and say that you're an honest sportsman.
  5. Mostly 28' & 29's. I did get one 30. Wish there was more than one level.
  6. Good for you two!! I really enjoy stories like these. Nice A-5 she's got there, good gun to start her with. I wish you two bag limits every year and be sure to behave yourselves in the pop-up blind.
  7. From what I have read, formatting will delete any pics on the card. Also found this if it helps. Formatting a card basically insures that it is going to work right with your camera. Just like computers, memory cards have files systems, folders, etc. When you use your camera to format a card, it sets the card up the way the camera needs it to be in order to function properly. Now, for the most part, if you just pop in the memory card it will usually work. Most cameras will automatically put all the necessary "stuff" on the card for you, regardless of whether you've formatted it or not. However, formatting a card is a very quick and (mostly) painless procedure, so I recommend doing it the first time you pop the card into your camera. Just in case. Since the actual way you format the card varies widely from camera to camera, you'll have to consult your owner's manual for specific how-to advice. In addition to getting the card ready to use with the camera, formatting can also fix minor problems. If your card and camera are not getting along too well—lots of error messages, bad writes, etc.—try formatting the card. Sometimes it works, sometimes the card has passed to the great digital beyond, but it's worth a try. All that useful tech stuff aside, formatting is a quick way to delete all the images off of a memory card. Rather then scrolling through and picking them off one by one, just do a format - the images are erased in a matter of seconds. Of course, don't do this if there are images on that card you want to keep :-)
  8. After reading about the vane colors you use in my last thread I decided to contact Mindy at Onestringer for some new wraps. One thing lead to another and she worked up some of her new vane decals for my Blazers. Mindy did such a nice job I had to share them with you guys. I shoot cock vane up so I will be able to give my hunting buddies a wink everytime I draw back. I cannot wait till they arrive.
  9. Oh, and read the thread in the archery room about what not to do on a hunting show ;-)
  10. Your user name seems like a good title.
  11. For years I have always had 2 white vanes and one bright yellow vane on a white and camo wrap so they would be easy to find. That worked well until last fall when I missed a doe in the snow. Thank God for the Lumenock. I was curious, what color are your vanes and your wrap if you have one?
  12. LOL! My daughter was so worried that the deer could see pink that when she had her limbs upgraded on her Diamond Razors Edge she switched to green camo. Great looking bow Dan. Hope she tags out!
  13. Here is our English Setter Lucy. After our golden passed away we we've been looking for another dog. Last July we had the deal of a lifetime drop into our laps. Her father is a 3 time field trial champion from the famous Grouse Ridge Kennels and he got it on with another setter that had no papers. To the breeder the pups were worthless since they did not have papers. So I got her for $25!! Now I'm trying to learn how to trail a bird dog. Wish I knew what I was doing, she has so much talent. Lucy at 5 months old in July. Lucy in early August watching pigeons at my parents.
  14. Sweet set-up! Hope it works out for you.
  15. No Ted Nugent or super hunter here. Just a guy who is a conservationist like many who posted here. Remember conservation means wise use. You made a poor shot last year and you chose to do the same again. That is not wise use because your second deer has now gone to waste. Why would you expect high 5's and congrats for that? I'm not sure how many buck tags you are allowed but I sincerely hope you you had the decency to put your tag on him. Nuff said. So long.
  16. We have a cabin about an hour from Swampy. Man it's nice to be off the grid!! We have gas lights (upstairs and down), hot water (milk can with a spigot on the wood stove), we use a propane zodiac for showers, we do have a shed with a generator if we want ac for the vacuum cleaner but it never runs for more than 30 min. for the entire season. Ken, I'll send you some pics with suggestions you can use if you want. I'd post them here but I don't want to hyjack the thread.
  17. That's because your PA. antler restriction has passed on genetics without common sense. Everytime I've put them out the deer go crazy for them.
  18. May I suggest the Diamond Infinate Edge. Its a great bow, I just bought one for my son. You get the entire package for just over $300. Best thing about the bow, you can grow with it and its easy to adjust. Buy some arrows, tips and a release and you're ready to go. It even comes in pink camo if that's your thing.
  19. I see on TV that they have a bunch of stuff on sale. May have to check it out.
  20. Looks great Ken! Many, many memories to be made in there. I see one possible design flaw. How far off the concrete pad is your OSB subfloor?
  21. Congrats Chris! I start my 23rd year in September. Not looking forward to the changes here. Actually concidering early retirement after this one is over.
  22. It's red red wine! I actually spelled it wrong. It's Carmenere'
