    Bad hair day

LOL. I don't believe I have ever shaven while I was driving lol. Sounds like you need a 12 volt shaver....do they even make that?

    Swamp Buck

Congrats Frank! He's a nice buck man. The weather has been so crummy and warm here it looks like a water hole is the place to be. I just really struggle with the mental drive to make it out when it's in the 80's, your soaked from sweat, and mosquito's are buzzing in my ears. Kudos for sticking with it.
  3. Yikes! Generally I'm not afraid of snakes, but if I see one of those nasty suckers I'm out lol. We don't run into too many poisonous snakes around here. A few copperheads and water moccasins, and did run across a timber rattler several years ago in southern Illinois.
  4. I've been getting one or two almost daily for years. I've seen adds for anything and everything you can think of lol. Most of them get caught and sent my spam or junk folder.
  5. So naturally this weekend is a busy one for us, and I doubt I'll be able to get out and hunt. Tonight my 10 year old has a soccer game, but he rolled his ankle at school yesterday so not sure if he'll play or not just yet. Tomorrow the wife has to work, so I got roped into working a fundraiser at a pizza joint for my daughters travel ball team. Sunday she has a little one day softball tournament that should burn up most of the day. On a bragging note my daughter played her last softball game for the middle school yesterday. She hit .571 over 24 games with 3 home runs. They finished 3rd in the southern Illinois state championship. The next time she plays for school ball she will be in high school.....man they grow up quick. What are the plans for the weekend? I feel like everyone will be hunting except for me lol.
  6. Awesome! Congrats! That's a great buck! Big healthy body and some nice mass on him. After 10 years of bowhunting you were due lol. He'll be the first of many I'm sure.

    Okay

The only other hunting forum I ever visit is archerytalk. I check in over there every week or two, but rarely post. Lots more in-fighting and snide remarks than there used to be over there though. I still come here almost every day.
  8. Nothing new to report here. It's still been too warm to make it out. Looks like a big change is coming next week, so hopefully I'll get to make it out a few times here shortly.
  9. I have always wondered about certain things in history and how we got to were we are today with this issue. Unless I am wrong on any of this, the Republican party was the party of Lincoln.....the party that abolished slavery. The Democratic party was the party mostly of southern Democrats and pro-slavery advocates. I don't remember much from history in school, but at what point did things get flip-flopped? For some reason I think Martin Luther King was even a Republican. As for the NFL players kneeling....it ticks me off. If they want to be advocates for a cause or protest something there is a time & place. That time & place is NOT when our National Anthem is being played. My Grandfathers, uncles, cousins, and my brother in law all served and fought in wars to protect people and battle for this countries freedoms. They have been through things and seen things that I cannot fathom. The least I can do is salute them by standing for our Nation's song with my hand on my heart, and think about those that served our country and allowed us these freedoms. These spoon fed millionaires are really complaining about oppression? IMO things like this do not bring people together, but divide our country even more.
  10. It's cooled off quite a bit here finally too. Highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's, which is normal this time of year. It's supposed to warm up again next week, which is a real bummer. Our season opens Sunday, but doubt I'll be able to get out. On to the weekend check-in.....first and foremost 4 years ago today my little boy Tyson was born. It looks like tonight we are going to Grandmas for chili and birthday cake. When my wife told me she was pregnant I went into full panic mode. "We didn't plan this", "Were to old for this", "What are we going to do", "How are going to afford this" were just a few of my thoughts lol. Now I love the kid so much that I can't imagine what life would have been like with out him. Every time I look at him it puts a smile on my face. Tomorrow is a busy day also. My daughters middle school softball team won their regional championship last week, so they have their first state championship game in the morning. In the afternoon Evan has a soccer game. Then tomorrow night the wife and I will be celebrating our 17 anniversary....man time flies. We are doing dinner and going on a ghost tour of all things lol. Sunday we're planning on going to church with Grandpa, and my daughters travel team has a game in the afternoon.
  11. Sorry to hear that William. I know it's been a rough few months for your family.
  12. The first day of fall is here! It's hard to get too excited since it's supposed to be a high of 96 here today, but relief is coming next week with a nice cold front. What are the weekend plans? Tonight my daughter has a middle school softball game. It's the regional championship, so if they win this one they play for State starting next week. Tomorrow I plan on mowing, and Evan has a flag football game in the afternoon. Sunday afternoon my daughter has softball practice with her travel ball team. Besides that I need to do a few things around the house and maybe get my resume together. It's looking the shop I've worked at for 20 years might be closing up soon, so I need to get my stuff together and see what is out there. Been kind of bummed out about it, but hopefully something promising will come up.
  13. I here you...high yesterday was a record 95 and suppose to be close to a record again today around 93.
  14. Checking in. My season doesn't start until October 1. Need to get some cams checked and some shooting lanes trimmed and I'll be good to go.

    9 - 15 Checkin

Going to the annual Italian Fest tonight a few towns over. Games, kid's stuff, Italian food, beer garden, and a great local band performing there tonight. Tomorrow morning I plan on mowing and my boy has a flag football game in the afternoon. No plans for Sunday that I know of. It's a rare weekend with no softball what so ever. Summer is back in full force here with upper 80's and low 90's, so will probably not head to the farm until it cools off again.
  16. Sweet! That sucker makes quick work of the mess. Can tell from the video you've been operating for a while.
  17. Plot is looking good! A little rain and it will be green in no time.
  18. Wassup peeps. Another week has came and gone. What are the weekend plans? Nothing big planned for the weekend on my end. My bride has to work tomorrow so my 3 year old will be hanging with me. Emma has softball practice tomorrow & a game on Sunday. Evan, my 10 year old, starts his flag football career tomorrow with 2 games. Tonight he's going to a back to school "dance" with a few of his buddies. I'm sure there is not much dancing that goes on with a bunch of 10 year olds lol. Besides that I plan on shooting the bow a little and sleeping in.
  19. Great buck! The mount looks awesome!
  20. Labor day weekend here in the States, so I'm off work Monday. The weather here has been unbelievable. High of 73 today and supposed to get down to 48 tonight...I'm loving it. It's supposed to warm up Sunday & Monday before another cold front moves in next week. Since it's going to be so nice tomorrow I plan on mowing and trimming some shrubs, and probably get the bow out. I imagine the kids will want to shoot the crossbow some too. Sunday afternoon Emma has softball practice. As of now we don't have any plans for Monday, but I'm sure something will come up.
  21. Same here William...Sweet Baby Rays goes on chicken & pork steaks.
  22. I'm not sure I have ever put BBQ sauce on venison before. Usually my backstraps get cut up, wrapped in bacon, and sprinkled with a McCormick Grill Mates seasoning.
  23. Next Friday is September 1st...Jeez summer really flew by. PSA- If you haven't signed up for the deer contest, sign ups are in the "announcements and online contest" room. William also has a reminder thread in the "Lounge". The more people we get signed up the better it is. Many of us have enjoyed it for years. Just make sure if you sign up that you can get back here and check-in with your team every week or so during the season. On to the weekend! Emma has a middle school softball game this afternoon. Played last night and went 2 for 2. So far she is batting .572 in school ball. Tomorrow I plan on mowing and doing some yard work in the morning, and have a house warming party/ shrimp boil/ poker game to go to in the afternoon at one of my hunting buddies new pad. Sunday Emma has softball practice, but other than that it's an afternoon to relax and enjoy this amazing August weather. What's everyone else have planned?
  24. LOL I actually here that quite often. I have done a battle ground mud run, but I just can't get into running or training for it. I do weight training three days a week, and that keeps me from getting too out of shape. I used to build 4X4 off road trucks with some buddies way back before a wife and three kids were in the picture. We would haul them around to mud races and boggs around the midwest and race....hence the Mudrunner.
  25. Welcome to RT! I have a similar leafy suit that I wear in the early season. I feel like it blends in a little better when there is still a decent amount of foliage. Plus it's not as hot to wear as some of my other camo if the temps are a little warm. Once the leaves drop I switch back to traditional camo.
