  2. Re: BBD in Indiana! Congrats! That's an awesome buck!
  3. Re: Tons of deer this morning Sounds like good morning!I hunted Saturday afternoon and saw about the same, but didn't see squat on Sunday afternoon.
  4. Re: Another Illinois Whitetail Pic Looks like a dandy!I never get sick of seeing big Illinois bucks.
  5. Re: Success on the last day of PA bowhunting season Congrats! That's a good looking buck!Sounds like great hunt. What kind of bow is that?I used to shoot a Browning that looked similiar.I should have never sold it.

  7. Re: Team 1 Well, another frustrating weekend for me.I saw a ton of movement Saturday night, and took a shot at a doe.I drew back when she was behind a tree and she heard the seat on my stand creak and froze. As she took one more step I released and heard the arrow "thwack", and thought I nailed her.I got down and checked the arrow...no blood or hair, but the arrow was bent and a fletching was ripped off.As I replayed the thing in my mind I noticed a scar on the tree she was behind. The arrow hit it and veered in front of her.Last night I jumped two does going in to my stand about 30 yards from the truck, and that was all I saw the whole afternoon.I'm taking off Thursday for bowhunting and Friday for Illinois shotgun opener,so hopefully this time next week I'll have a few points to add. On a brighter note,my neighbor managed to shoot a absolute pig last night. It was the first time he's had a chance to bowhunt all year...he said he got to his stand about 2:30 and shot the buck about 3:15.This thing has 15 scoreable points and is absolutely massive.I would say he should score around 170".I'll try and get a few pics from him,but it will probably not be till next week.
  8. Re: did anyone see That's pretty wild.Imagine what's going through them peoples minds. It looked like pretty nice buck. It appeared he probably saw his reflection in the door and thought it was another buck until the door opened.

    Wearing down

Re: Wearing down I know what you mean...that's the life of a hunter. I get up at 5:20 during the week for work, and 4:30 on weekends for hunting.Usually by mid December It wears on me,but there's plenty of time for rest after hunting season.
  10. Re: Got A Doe Down!!!!! Congrats! She sounds like a dandy.
  11. Re: missed a doe, how long to give stand a rest I would still hunt it that afternoon. In fact,if I miss I still stay in the stand until 9 or 10.I don't think the area should be disturbed that much.
  12. Re: Team 1 Where abouts are you going pheasant hunting?I've went for about 12 straight years up until this year.We went around Woonsocket and Letcher, which is about 20 miles NE of Mitchell.Sounds like fun! I'm stuck at work today, but plan on going out tomorrow morning.Tomorrow it's supposed to warm up some and our wind is supposed to be SE,which is terrible for all of my stands,so I'm not sure what I'll do yet.
  13. Re: First shot gun deer Congrats!Looks like a nice doe.Don't worry about the field dressing,it will get better with experience. My first one took me quite a while too,but now I can get it done in about 10 minutes.
  14. Re: My first of the season Congrats! Can't wait to see pics!
  15. Re: Muffs 2006 gun season Sweet!Sounds like a great week Muff.
  16. Re: true talker? [ QUOTE ] Actually the call sounded its best without applying any pressure to the reed at all. [/ QUOTE ] That's how I use mine.I've never messed with the o-rings or the bands,I just use it to make grunts. Your right about the smell, this thing smells like a bucket full of burning pencil erasers.I've been doing the same....spraying it with carbon spray, washing it,and leaving it out to disipate the odar. It's gotten better, but still smells.I keep it tucked inside my scentblocker jacket unless I'm blowing in it.I love the grunts this thing makes, just wish it didn't stink so bad.
  17. Re: Second archery kill of \'06 Congrats Snapper!Sounds like an exciting hunt.
  18. Re: Scott County Buck--Kentucky [ QUOTE ] I'd guess 3.5 and 110 - 115. [/ QUOTE ] That would be my guess too.He looks like a great buck, and similiar to my shotgun buck last year that was 3 1/2 and about 118".He has nice mass and a big body...I would definately take a shot.
  19. Re: Question for bowhunters I use to think that to Joe,but one year I was walking out of the woods with my shotgun loaded and although it was not dark,it was 5 minutes after shooting time according to the time table, and a ranger was waiting for me at the truck...lucky for me I got a warning, and pay close attention to the chart now.
  20. Re: Hey architects/engineers/designers... JERAMIE! Jeramie is right,he'll definately need some type of AutoCad schooling first and foremost.I don't know much about architecture, but do engineering, sheet metal design, and trailer layouts. Learning to use a 3D cad program wouldn't hurt a bit.Solid works seems to be the most popular right now. Here we use Autodesk Inventor, which is good, but not near as popular as Solidworks.
  21. Re: Question for bowhunters Here in Illinois bow hunters have 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset, but gun hunters have 1/2 hour before sunrise to sunset. Not sure why there is a differance.
  22. Re: unscented gun oil I use a gun cleaning kit called Invisible Gun.It has solvent and oil that supposedly have less oder than water. It works great and I believe I bought it at Wal-Mart.Gun solvents and oils have pretty potent oders, and if your gonna do scent control you might as well go all the way.
  23. Re: Another Video Update from Kansas (nov 4,5) That's some nice footage of the youngn's going at it.
  24. Re: rifleman25 scores Congrats!Looks like a nice buck.
