  2. Re: Team 1 Well, just got back from deer camp yesterday afternoon. It was a long 4 days. I bowhunted Thursday, and finally saw some shooter bucks.I saw 4 different bucks that were shooters, but only a small 4 point came into bow range. The bucks were chasing hard and it was a great day, even though though wind was blowing 30+ mph. Friday morning-nothing,saw two does and never got a shot. Finally, that afternoon I shot a nice fat doe with my slugger.I have pictures on a disposable camera that I'll get put on a c.d. after I use all the pics up, and get my tag and deer pics posted. My area totally died for some reason.I never saw a buck the rest of the weekend. Two guys in our group did manage to bag some bucks that should score in the mid 130's.
  3. Re: Pheasent recipes Rifleman's got it!It is excellent cooked up that way. My wife will usually make homemade pheasant and noodle soup or pheasant and dumplins that are pretty awesome.

  8. Re: busted poachers!! That's great!I never could understand why someone would poach a deer.
  9. Re: Scent free suits? I have a ScentBlocker-Dream Season suit, but only because I won it.I would have a problem prying that kind of money out of my wallet for one though. If your scent control is good and you use the wind in your favor I don't think it's that big a deal.
  10. Re: 2006 Archery doe Congrats on the doe!
  11. Re: Does Temp affect the Rut [ QUOTE ] the deer are still rutting but they do it at night when its cooler. the actual rut is determined by the length of day, not temperature. [/ QUOTE ] Yep,that's my answer. The rut will happen no matter what the temperature is,but warmer weather will definately slow daytime movement.
  12. Re: Happy Birthday Vermonthunter Happy birthday V.H.!Have a good day bud.
  13. Re: Why Beat Kids? Sheeesh, that's a tough situation Jeramie. At least it's getting taken care of now instaed of later on down the road.My sister and myself grew up in a silmiliar situation, and my dad eventually got custody of us. I agree with Horst...if I was one of these kids parents it would be on like donky kong.I can't stand when people do this kind of stuff to children.Discipline is one thing, but this guy sounds like he's got a major problem.
  14. Re: Team 1 Sweet!Way to go Toddy! That's a nice looking buck and some points for the team. I can't wait till tomorrow....I'm off to deer camp for 4 days and it'a suppose to snow a couple of inches late tonight.

  19. Re: Heard the Snort Wheeze Tonight I heard my first one two weeks ago.It is pretty sweet hearing that kind of stuff. You get a real idea of what it sounds like when deer make them vocalizations.

    Respect?

Re: Respect? One thing I forgot to mention about my situations is that both trips are fairly short.Three days for deer camp, and four for the pheasant hunt, which would've left enough time to be home for the wake and funeral.

    Respect?

Re: Respect? Hmmm, that's a tough situation.I've actually had two similiar situations. One involved my Grandpa getting into a car accident when we were pheasant hunting in South Dakota.Although I stayed at the hospital for the rest of the week, the other fellas did hunt.It was a trip that they paid for and took time off work for,and there was no point in all of them staying at the hospital. The next year at deer camp the owner of the property passed out and we rushed him to the nearest hospital, which was about 20 miles away.He had a heart attack and got immediate open heart surgery. On this ocassion a few of us did finish out the weekend hunt. Fortunately both my Grandpa and the land owner lived, but I doubt the situation would have been much different had the outcome been worse.
  25. Re: Wyoming success Congrats and welcome!Looks like a great trip.
