  1. It has been starting to creep into my mind the last week or two. Been catching a few of the new seasons of hunting shows here and there,so that gets the wheels turning a little bit. I need one more full day at the farm to get my stands tweaked and lanes trimmed and I'll be set.
  2. My cousin bought one of the $80 recurve style ones for his kids about a year ago. He says for the price it's decent as long as shots are closer. If I remember some of the reviews had the limb tips breaking off, but that is a replaceable part. I spent a little more (about $275) and got a Barnett Recruit compound for my kids and it's been flawless so far.
  3. Sounds like a great trip and a lot of memories! Man, that is a crazy amount of animals for the time you were there. Holy moly....wildebeest and impala look plentiful lol.
  4. I'm a Slick Trick guy. I switched to them about 4 or 5 years ago, and haven't been disappointed yet. Really like the design and 4 blades.
  5. I am in as always. Once again last year we had people sign up for the contest never to be heard from again. That's kind of a pain, but overall I look forward to the contest every season.
  6. I live in Highland, IL. I'm about 30 miles from Frank in Bethalto, and about 45 from Effingham.
  7. Man, big difference between that and a rear tine tiller lol. Like you, I'm surprised they weren't sold out after having them priced like that for so long. That looks like the same tiller my father in law has that I use for my food plots.
  8. Man, that is a big TV lol. I'm going to say $789. It's kind of funny....my father in law called me last Thursday asking if I could come by and give him a hand installing a new TV. I get there, open up the back of his SUV, and the thing takes up the whole back end lol. He went from a 42" to a 65". It's a Samsung LED smart TV, I think he gave about $975 for it.
  9. It's drier than a popcorn fart here. High was 99 yesterday and supposed to be the same today. Man I hate summer.
  10. Man, that place looks amazing! Can't wait to see some trophy pics.

    weapon of choice

I usually upgrade my bow to a newer model every five or six years, but without a doubt would rather bow hunt than gun hunt. That being said my old Winchester 1300 pump 12 gauge has been my go to deer gun. It's the first firearm I ever bought myself. I bought it from a buddies dad when I was 18. I'm 40 now, so 22 years of dropping deer and being abused, but the thing has never given me an ounce of trouble. For things like squirrel, doves, and pheasants I have a Browning A5 and Remington 1100 that I love to pull out and shoot.
  12. Summer is in full swing here.My daughter had a softball tournament all weekend.....it was 96 Friday, 97 Saturday, and touched 99 yesterday.
  13. Man, going to a Stanley Cup final would be sweet! I've been to a few first round playoff games, but never been to to a game in a deeper round. The Winter Classic is in St. Louis at Busch Stadium next season, so we are definitely going to try and get tickets for that. Congrats to the Pens! They were a team on a mission and outplayed the Sharks all series long.

Looks great Frank! Your taxi does some nice work. Looks like you send him a fair amount of work lol.
  15. Looks like I was wrong...the Sharks live to fight another day.
  16. LOL I thought all the hockey fans left this place. My Blues made it farther than I expected them to this year. After they lost to the Sharks I was kind of pulling for them to win it just because, like the Blues, they have never won it before. The Sharks have a tough hill to climb to get back into this series. I think tonight it will all be over though.
  17. Man, that's tough. I know one day the ground I hunt on will most likely be sold. My grandpa hunts there, my dad hunted there, and now my kids hunt there. I spent a lot of weekends with some of the best people I'll ever meet, and made memories to last a lifetime. I don't think it's going away anytime soon, but I could see someone with more money than sense offering a boat load of money and making it hard to say no to.
  18. The high here yesterday was 52. I actually had to kick the furnace on, which is nuts being it's the middle of May. I'll take it though. Hopefully this is a sign that we are going to have a cooler than normal summer.

    Sir Tristan

Nice! Your going to need an addition just for your mounts lol. I have a nice spot for my shotgun buck from last season, but after that I'll be a little low on space too.
  20. LOL 92? Didn't you just have snow like two weeks ago lol. We haven't even hit the 90's down here yet this year. We had 60-70 mph straight line winds come through with a storm over the weekend. Lots of tree and roof damage around, but luckily none to us.
  21. Sweet! I flipped through the photos on the webpage....looks like it should be a great hunt. Good luck and be safe!
  22. Ha! I seen that posted on another forum and was like "what in the world is that suppose to mean? lol. It took me a while to realize it was May 4th.
  23. That's about as good as it gets! Memories that will last a lifetime...congrats!
  24. We road hunted ditches in South Dakota a few times for pheasants (it is legal to road hunt small game there.....not from a vehicle of course), but that is quite a bit different than big game. To my limited knowledge I don't believe it is legal to road hunt big game anywhere. Even if it was it wouldn't be my cup of tea.
