  1. Congrats to you and your family Shaun! She is adorable! Enjoy it...they grow up so fast. My daughters name is also Emma.
  2. We have my daughters Recruit set up for 10,20,30. They seem to be pretty close. If I remember correctly there is only a couple of inches difference on where the arrows hit the target between 10 and 30 yards. I don't really want her to shoot past 20 yards just yet, so I just have her use the middle dot for 20 yards and in. Barnett doesn't use the highest quality scopes, and I have read about some complaints with them. If we end up shooting ours quite a bit more I might upgrade the scope, but for a few hunts a year and occasional shooting in the yard it's adequate.
  3. Some nice buck! Are those from Kentucky or Illinois? I haven't been getting squat worth talking about on my cameras yet.
  4. Hmmm....Rubio, Huckabee, then Cruz for me.
  5. LOL good stuff right there.
  6. I always look forward to it. We might only have enough people for two teams this year though lol.
  7. There are still some funky things going on with the forums. I haven't noticed any problems replying to posts recently, so thats a plus. For some reason I got a happy birthday e-mail from Realtree a few weeks ago.....my birthday is in March though lol.
  8. I'm not sure much has changed in red dot scopes over the years. I put a cheap Redhead on my Winchester slug gun about 5 years ago and it's held up well. I don't care much for the b-square mount, as it tends to loosen up over time and doesn't seem very solid. I did have a red dot catch my eye on Sportsmans Guide a few months ago, but decided not to buy it. It was actually a scope with an illuminated reticle if I remember correctly.
  9. Will do. I remember him quite well from the forums.
  10. I need to start getting ready myself. I've been so busy with the kids baseball and softball I haven't had a chance to do a thing yet. The summers passing me by.....October will be here before you know it.
  11. That's exactly what I have read on EHD also. Less water means more deer drink from the same source, plus more of the muddy bank is exposed which is where the midges live. We have had a few consecutive bad years here with dry and hot summers and EHD has really taken a toll. So far this year our temps are a little below normal and moisture is a good bit above normal. This year so far mosquitos are what seems to be worse than normal.

    Pretty cool Story

Wow Fly...that's awesome man! That's a pretty cool story. What are the odds that life's paths would lead you both to to where you are over 20 years later?
  13. I did some shift work when i lived in Minnesota occasionally. I never could get used to it, but the shift differential pay was nice. Third shift was the worst for me....I think it was 10-7. Overtime made it even worse. That was before I had a family. I don't think I could handle it now.
  14. Illinois had to do something to try and improve the deer herd. Going back through my journals I have been seeing about 1/2 of the deer I was seeing 6 or 7 years ago on the farm that i hunt. These changes being made by the new director are a start, but I'm not sure these proposals will benefit the herd too much. IMO the late antlerless seasons we have in January have had the biggest impact on the reduction of deer numbers, along with EHD of course.
  15. Hay Jeramie...it's good to see you back! I've been extremely busy myself. Who knew coaching my daughters 12U travel softball team would take up so much free time lol. Another tournament this weekend. My oldest boy (8) is starting to get into more sports too, throw in a one year old and the days get packed with stuff pretty quick.
  16. LOL you know it's bad when the most popular thread in the last month is one complaining about the forum.
  17. LOL if your looking for an argument you won't find one here. I agree 100%. I belong to 4 or 5 other forums and an issue with them is a) very rare, and b) taken care of very quickly.
  18. It's been up to about 86 here the last few days.We went from lower 60's for highs to mid 80's pretty quick. I think our normal high is about 74 right now.
  19. That is pretty wild. I can't say that I've ever seen one before.
  20. That sounds about right. My kids Recruit says 300 fps I believe, but read on other forums they were getting between 305 and 310. It smokes my 60 lb. compound I do know that lol.
  21. That thing looks sweet! Very cool trophy.
