NICE !! Congrats, with the Flintlock at that ...
-
Now that's a dandy of a first deer ,, Congrats Allison ...

Yeah, I thought twice and hard about taking that shot, knowing the issues I've had with the powerbelts. The sad part is that they are darn accurate most of the time, this is why I say the bad shot was most likely me, and I got real lucky the end result. I've heard great things about the Hornady and the Barnes rounds. and some good things with the Federal Bor Lock MZ. I may even play around with loose powder instead of the pellets.

Thanks everyone, and will be trying as many possibilities as possible before next season. All of the suggestions are noted and will be tried.

Joe I have been using the .270 grn Platinum Power Belts with 150 grns. of triple seven. My 2014 doe was about 70 yrds away and I put one perfectly behind her shoulder and she took of like she was shot from a canon. Good thing there was some snow on the ground or I wouldn't have found her. When I did she didn't have a exit wound, and did I mention she only went about 150 yrds. but it's the route she took before she expired that made finding here tough, THANK GOODNESS for white snow .. lol

No rest Al, free hand shot. This is something I practice with the rifle and the ML. I sighted in my TC Triumph out to 200 yrds. using a bench rest and I was consistently getting 1" to 1.5" groups using 150 grns. of triple 7 and a 270 grn. Platinum Power Belt. I surely must have pulled the shot bigtime, can't blame the setup for that bad shot it was all me. The issue I have with my setup isn't accuracy it's penetration with the Power Belts, obviously when you spine shoot an animal penetration isn't going to be a issue, but a body shot with these Power Belts seem to be a problem, atleast with the previous 2 deer I shot with them. What really has me baffled, is that TC recommends Shockwaves and I can't ram those dang things down my barrel, I even snapped a range rod in half trying to get a second shot down the barrel. So I've stayed with the power Belts for ease of loading but have been worried about penetration. I have yet to try one of two that I'm interested in .. and those would be the Hornady XTP Mag and the Federal Bor Loc. These will get there chance very soon now that hunting season is over here in VT.

Well, I didn't get a chance to change anything up this season as far as trying a new setup, but did have some decent results. This Doe walked out with one other. I watched them for quite some time to be sure no bucks or yearlings were tagging along behind. They were a distance off and not browsing my way, so I ranged her at 180 yrds. and knew I was good out to 200 yrds. my only reserve was the round I was using after a bad result the year before. I decided to give it a go and zero'd in on her just behind the shoulder and pulled the trigger, when the smoke cleared she lay right where she was standing. After rounding up my stuff and walking up to her did I notice the shot went high, hitting her in the spine killing her instantly. But, still disappointed in where the round hit ... I really need to look into something else for next season. She field dressed in at 130 lbs.

I run the FREE version of AVG and find it very effective ... http://download.cnet.com/AVG-AntiVirus-Free-2015/3000-2239_4-10320142.html

I highly recommend AVG and Malwarebytes, they work well together and both offer FREE versions. I've been using these two programs for years and have never had a problem with either.

Yep, dang upgrades ran everyone off, and I think general daily routines have become more complex these days for folks. Good to see you popping in tho, hope things have been good for you and the family.

Here's the latest on Dakota ... ~~Today was Dakota's 65th day in the ICU. He had a pretty good day today. Not as feverish and seems to be stronger today. Did a little playful arm wrestling with him and he is showing more strength! Stood up a couple of times (still with the help of three people) but can't stand yet on his own. Tomorrow they will perform a white cell tagged scan to see if they can find the source of his fevers. If they can't find anything after this test, they will perform a bone marrow biopsy to check for any kind of cancer. His spirits seem a bit better today as well. Please pray that the doctors are able to find the cause of his fevers and that God will take them away. Also, please pray for encouragement, comfort, peace, strength, and even joy for Dakota as God carries him through this trial. Thank you!

This is the latest on Dakota as of this week .... From his Dad ,, " Hello friends! Dakota has had a tough week overall. He is still on the ventilator with his trache and is experiencing ICU delirium (confusion, hallucinations). His arms and legs are getting small as he has lost lots of muscle mass and strength. He is very discouraged again and just wants to go home. In spite of all this, the docs say he's slowly getting better. Jennifer and I feel like we're getting a little hospital crazy, too. Please pray for us as we all are feeling like we are in a funk right now. Dakota will wrap up eight weeks in the ICU tomorrow. Please pray that he will have a better day tomorrow and that God will give his body more strength. Thanks! "

Wild Parsnip and Giant Hog Weed are just plain nasty and can ruin your summer in a big way. If you com in contact with the stuff immediate wash with soap vigorously and thoroughly. This stuff is super hardy and hard to get rid of ...

If I remember right William, the Federal BOR's run about $24.99 for 15 rounds. I haven't decided wether or not I want to switch to the loose Triple 7 yet. I definitely need to find a better bullet for the Triumph,,, I've heard a lot of good things about the XTP Mags.
-
I'm thinking of giving the new Federal B.O.R. Lock MZ Bullets a go ,, just wish the cost was abit lower atleast for the initial try out .... Any opinion of these bullets ??? https://www.federalpremium.com/products/muzzleloading.aspx

I will post this update on Dakota here for everyone to read .... along with some additional info. ~~Dakota is off the ventilator and his breathing tube is out! Please pray that he will not need to use it again during this stay! He is sitting up in bed and watching DVD 's. Not able to eat or drink anything yet until they retrain him how to eat and drink. He can't wait for his first glass of water! Also, I've been asked to share again the link to Dakota's GoFundMe site. A huge thank you to all who have been able to contribute! Even more important are your continued thoughts and prayers for Dakota and our family! Special thanks to our very good friend Carol McKee at Hockey605 for creating and updating this site. We are truly blessed to have friends like all of you! ~~ http://www.gofundme.com/dakotacase

This is my .44 Mag. I mounted this Simmons 3x9x40 scope on it years ago, the high rise see through mounts are a must.

The one thing I've always struggled with is math, I was never able to retain the information that was being taught to me. My other subjects were great just math and some science skills for obvious reasons ...
-
I'm OLD .. lol This is first time I've heard that analogy ... I actually thought the answer was 26 the first time it was presented to me.
-
After some help with this math problem, this is the answer and how it was solved ... Again, I HATE MATH ... The answer is 21 This is how to solve tis problem ... 8x6=48 now divide that by 3 and then add 5 = 21
-
I totally suck at math and need the answer to this problem .... any help would be great. 5 + 8 x 6 / 3 =?

Congrats on the Gobbler Mollyann ...

What an awesome gobbler, CONGRATS Al. If it's one thing I've learned from reading about your hunts, it's to be patient, especially when the bird goes silent, and not to over call. ,,,
