hey guys, just wonderin what y'all use for the big game animals. i just bought a Browning BLR in a .300 WSM today, i like it cuz i'll use it both for deer and i'll use it when i start moose hunting.

Re: Gun for Son depending where you hunt, the .243 can be great of horrible, the .24 calibres are too light if you are shooting through any type of brush. they are excellent however for field hunting, i would reccommend the .308 or 7mm-08 if you are hunting where there is the possibility of obstuction with brush. hey lads, my brother and i bought new rifles today. I got a Browning BLR .300 WSM, and he got a Browning BLR in a .270 Win. both beautiful guns, the wood on his is slightly lighter than mine. some neat features on them too!! My dad has had a BLR in a .308 for years and has never had a problem with it. So my bro and i decided to get BLRs as well. I used to use dad's Remington 700 BDL .300 Win Mag, i fell in love with the magnum calibres so i decided to go with the short mag, i have heard nothing but good things about things about them. the shells are neat, the casing width are based on the .416 Rem Mag and they are about the same length as a .308. Anyone else here shoot the WSM?

Re: What city and state is everyone from? I live in Arnprior, Ontario... 25 minutes west of Ottawa. But i am in college now, in Belleville, 1hr 45mins east of Toronto. we have 3 inches of snow here and its -7c (19f), a foot at home, and its -13c (9f) there!! cant wait to get the skidoo out!
