  3. Don't know if you guys have seen it but cabelas is running a 1 day only sale on the Hitman blinds with snowcover for $149..........That is a heck of a deal. Too bad I won't be near a cabelas that day. I would buy one in a heartbeat.
  4. We are driving back for 1 day from the lease to do the family thing then going right back...............If it weren't for the fact that family is coming from AZ and CA I wouldn't even show up.

    Updates

Haven't taken out the boomstick yet. Birds are few and far between. I have seen 2 groups at the lease on the slew. 20 or so Canada and about 30 wood ducks.
  6. I'm no pro dale but most mornings where I sit when the sun starts to warm the cold earth you get the upper thermals. If the wind is right it will carry your wind up and away. I've killed alot of deer downwind of me but of course I wasn't on the ground either.
  7. Yes sir.............Started season with 6 tags.....Got 1 buck tag left and I'm saving it for a big boy.
  8. Nope.............I try to get between bed and food. Normally food they are in right before daylight and right after dark. If you can get between food and bed you can catch them moving to and from food..............See alot more deer that way. Locate a pinch point and cut them off.
  9. I'm starting to believe November 14th is my lucky day. I met my wife on November 14, was in the hospital waiting on my son November 14th, and then there was this November 14th. Sunday evening we hit the tree late after moving stands all day and repairing feeders the cows we weren't supposed to have destroyed at the lease. Evening was slow til about 5:15............A doe came out at 30 yards and I had promised my sister I would put one in her freezer. Figured now was as good a time as any. Let is fly and sat down thinking I missed her while I reloaded an arrow. Saw her run and stop 60 yards away.............Crash. About a minute after the crash I hear something else moving. By now I'm thinking I made a bad shot. Here it comes walking.............Steps in the open and there's a shooter buck at 40 yards. Couldn't get a shot so I grunted at him a few times only to watch him walk off. Grabbed my phone and texted my wife he was headed her way to get ready. When I hit send I looked left and he was coming fast. He walked behind a tree right in front of me as I stood and drew as fast as I could. He walked out at 8 yards and I watched the short flight of the arrow disappear behind the shoulder..........Judo Chop:chair:. He trotted about 40 yards, death wobbled, and fell over dead. That might have been the most exciting 5 minutes of hunting in my life. My biggest bow buck to date and a nice fat doe to fill my sister's freezer. 8 point 155 lbs and the doe weighed 105.
  10. Yep it was a good day for Okieland..............We also showed we will not put more people out of work for a half thrown together plan to toss more money to the schools.
  11. I do both.........On public land I normally gut where they fall. That being said we are so overrun with coons, opossums, and other critters thatI have gutted one in the morning. Walked into the stand in the afternoon and the gutpile is gone. I've never had a gut pile still there the next morning after an evening kill.
  12. Yep, Had my lifetime since I was 11...........I'm 29 now.
  13. Gave the 1st doe away..............We are fillin the freezer. Normally eat 3 a year at my household...........plus 1 at family get togethers. I do smoked quarters, straps, and all kinds of stuff for get togethers. I normally give 1 to my sister a year and 1 to my neighbor. Also I still have a freezer that is empty...........LOL
  14. Doe#2 from opening week.............. Alyssa's 1st.............. and the WAR PAINT.............
  15. What its all about................. Hunted with the Cookie monster in the buddy stand yesterday......... What is my PH looking at up there? Sugar caught her................
  16. So far I've got 3 does with bow..........Missed 1 at 45 yards I nicknamed "Haircut" because I shot right under her. My wife has found her archery addiction.....she had her first deer in front of her last night at 20 yards and never could get a broadside shot. She also missed a big doe at 30 yards with smokepole on Saturday we spot and stalked from 400 yards. Got my daughter on her 1st deer during youth rifle last weekend. She locked up on a big doe early that evening with her at 35 yards ..........subsequently the same doe my wife missed at 30.:gun2: She better not make that mistake with me...........:boo: Favorite stand at the lease.......... Where have we seen this before????????? Can it be.........What is that white dot thru the trees? Pic taken from where arrow was....... Well I'll be it's doe number 3!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I would let him go if I was on the lease hunting. Public land he would get an arrow. How old do you think he is? He looks 3.5 from that pic. Another year or 2 and he will grow alot.
  18. My wife killed a buck last year with hers and my daughter killed a doe with it last night. Sweet shooting litte .243.
  19. LOL, I was fixing to say did he buy another one?
  20. God Thermocell All else is subject to change yearly!
  21. Man Dan what a awesome buck...........What are you gonna do the rest of hunting season? LOL
  22. Same here Jeramie............My wife has been so thankful. Normally I drive her nuts.
  23. How can I put this.....thwack, thwack, thwack, thwack, thwack, thwack After I was out of arrows I would load them all up and feed some hungry folks. Its population control not ethical hunting.
  24. Gotta agree with Dwin...............There is no way I would even pay $1500 for it. I shot the carbon matrix and as well as it shot there is no way I'm paying that much either. In a few years when the guys that have them want the next big thing and will sell them for $300 I might give it a try. My $500 Turbohawk will kill them just as dead..........
  25. Call it what you want. Your right I'm not shooting across a 100,000 acre lake and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. However the spot we hunt most of the lake is around 3 miles across. Wind rarely blows toward the bank. I do shoot a full choke so hopefully it's either hit or miss. Maybe you missed the last sentence in that quote you posted......"not many crips with a full". Everyone has cripples...........fact of the matter. Either way if they fold and land and the wind is blowing 20 to 30 mph it doesn't take long for the ducks to reach where it's 20 foot deep and out of range of a pole there is no way to get to them. Your reply hasn't set right with me since I read it. People wonder why newbies and long time forum users don't stay around anymore. Call me unethical...........that's fine. You got guys out there that poach and guys out there that shoot and leave game laying. I hunt what i feel is ethical. If you don't like the way I hunt take it up with scott and have him ban me. Otherwise why don't you do what a mod is supposed to do...........support the forums, prevent arguements like this, and promote discussions.
