  1. He might touch 170...i am stuck around 165ish....but its not about the score....when you sit in that stand all day in the cold and then he steps out last minute.....
  2. I got this guy monday morning, our rifle opener. He is almost 20" wide, and carried mass very well throughout his main beam. I am absoultely thrilled over this guy, i have already taken him to the taxidermist.
  3. I used to shoot 3-d, but got out due to me not having enuf money to feed my habit....but Now i just shoot for hunting, which is fine for me but anyways...I shoot an 07 Bowtech Commander, fuse stabilizer, trophy taker drop away, and an extreme sight....My problem is, I consistantly settle in on my target high....like at 20 yards my 30 yd pin is perfectly sitting where i want the arrow to go, and i always have to fight to get it right, and it goes on up all the way to the 50 yd pin..... i know its not mental, i will close my eyes after i center the pin, calm myself and open to find out that my 30 yd pin is hovering right in the x ring....Am i sick?? is there something i can do...my draw length is correct, i have good form, I shoot with guys who are nationally ranked and they say my form and everything are fine....so what the heck am i doing wrong?????
  4. Well today was one of those days I have wanted for some time. No homework, out of class at 11am, all day to do nothing. I did not really want to go hunting so I grabbed my Mt. Bike and went to a local park to ride for a few hours. I took a cross country trail, I always see rubs back in there, and know it would be a great place to hunt, but it is city property and no hunting is allowed. So I am riding and i see a smallish buck...keep riding for like 20 yds, stop my bike and a doe stands up, then right behind her stands up a REALLY nice 10 point, Then two REALLY nice 8 points stand up, then a 6 point and a smaller buck walk up from my left towards the gaggle of deer, The doe calmly walks off with the ten, and all the rest following in order from biggest to smallest. Saw a total of 8 different bucks in a span of...oh i say 45 seconds. I am going to go hunting this weekend so hopefully i will have some more luck like that. He was a 130ish buck, the 8's were 120ish. It was cool to be that close to them.
  5. a friend of mine here in WV uses....ummm...things that are his wife's...he only can get them once a month....and he has good success with then when the time is right. I will NOT do that, but i just figured i would add that in there...if you look at the chemistry of urine, there isnt much difference between ours and theirs....
  6. Trial and error, i have been cuttin up my own deer now for years. Get some FREEZER PAPER, Plastic wrap ,freezer paper tape. Cut the meat off of the deer after the carcass cools, place it in plastic wrap then in freezer paper, i never knew of this trick until i ate some of my friends deer meat from last year, it was 8 months froze and tasted the most fresh i have ever eaten. Make sure and always label your meat, kind of cut, year taken, etc. There are some good articles on the internet on how to do it yourself, it will take a few deer to get any good, and after you do it, you will know that your deer was processed correctley, cleanly, and CHEAP!!!! Good Luck!!!
  7. Get the canon. You wont be sorry, i had a kodak, was unsatisfied, then i got my canon, never happier.
  8. I have read somewhere that urine between animals (human Included) detects sex, health, difference in carnivore and herbivorous, and stage in breeding/ willingness to reproduce.
  9. I hope someone in the right place gets to read this post. I am a member of a much smaller forum here in West Virginia, our guys have been posting about it, and i am glad to see that it made it up to this much bigger website. Lets keep pushing it up the chain...
  10. I shoot them out of my 2007 commander, they shoot right on with my fieldpoints, no complaints there, they are noisy in flight...they have a whizzing sound with them. Have never had an animal jump my setup, but i can hear them...espically when there is stuff for the sound of the arrow to bounce off of. I love them though, resharpening is pretty easy and they hold a good edge. Good luck with them!!
  11. I have used the older ones and the newer ones. I shot them out of a bowtech stalker 4 or 5 years back. They shot pretty much the same. I have found with broadheads that the better my bow was tuned the better all my broadheads have shot. I have since moved on to montecs....my dad swears by thunderheads, he has taken many many deer and a pope and young black bear with them. Great broadheads, good luck.
  12. My best studying is done from a double bull blind. Never had a deer sneek up to me either...just lookup every few minutes and scan the area...out of a treestand i am just there to hunt. in the blind, i can get away with more.

  20. Re: 4x4 blocks The local shop where i live got bored one day and wanted to see what the block would stand up too, shooting a fixed thunderhead, they shot a block for 20 minutes, approximately 15 shots (two people). They had a hold size of a baseball. It took 45 minutes with the 4x4. They have an origional block, that only gets field points....the strap rusted through before we got a pass...took a ratchet strap fixed it and they are still shooting it. Moral of story, use field points.
  21. Re: Don\'t shoot a Drenalin... Same thing happened to me when i bought my switchback xt. Shot it...bought it ten minutes later.
  22. Re: Weight Lifters Backstrap, deer burger, trout, tuna, thats the best source of protein you can find. Better than those nasty shakes
  23. Re: helicopter ride Until you've rode in a Blackhawk in a warzone and lived to talk about it you've done nothing. They are cool to ride in, personally i like to keep my feet on the ground.
