Re: Our season ended like this. . . Nice mix of birds... you guys are so lucky to have full plumaged birds... Our opening season for our ducks were not to purty..

Re: Goose decoys I stick to full bodies all season and use sleeper shells in the late season... Here in Minnesota they normally fly twice a day and when it gets cold they fly once a day... a sleeper shell shows a relaxed and comfortable goose and through some active's in and away we go!

Re: Spotting Scopes Anyone?

Re: Timothy Treadwell-\"Grizzly Man\" He did more damage than good. Though it was an interesting story. I watched it on the DC also... However animals in there natural habitat untouched with human nature is how it should of been....

Re: Help me buy a new shotgun........ I got a Browning Gold Hunter NWTF gun used... it is my baby -
Re: Black Hills area turkeys I gave you the low-down... Check with Borch, he's the man! It is a totally do-it-yourself hunt with all the public land and the unbelieveable scenery is well worth it. The elk migrate to the lower elevations and there is antelope, deer (muley/wt), mountain lions, TURKEYS of course...you name it! $85 for non-resi tag... lots of land....

Re: Open Letter From Jimmy Houston My personal feelings are if you are going to consider yourself a "pro" outdoors person and are going to represent companies you need to be ethical, consious and take responsibility for any actions you have done. Being a role model is a huge responsibility and being one with a big name people will use any situation to either destroy or put you on a pedalstool... It is a nasty world indeed but a price you pay to hold a position as Jimmy Houston does in the public eye. I think we all would like to know what really happened that day but only God knows and the people who were there. The truth will always come out no matter what... For those of you who didn't know... Jimmy has broken rules and regulations for no hunting lic. in the past and was found guilty... no one's perfect....yet I don't feel it is ok to have role model's for our future hunters (youth) that say hey it is ok to break rules and regulations and take deer unethically. Click here to see an Illinois charge from Jimmy: http://www.judici.com/courts/cases/case_dispositions.jsp?court=IL075015J&ocl=IL075015J,1999CV126,IL075015JL1999CV126D1 I understand that hunting shows need certain shots but whatever happened to fair chase?

Re: How did you stay focused in school? HS, I went through the same thing last year in college. It is tough and hard but you need to figure out a game plan and strive to be successful.. I made myself go to class, I made myself study, I made myself get extra help if I needed it.... You have to put the effort in if you want to have a future... I had worked in Wildlife and Fisheries in the summers through the DNR. I found out without getting my Biology degree I will be stuck in the same bracket of salary and will not be qualified to work on projects I want to. The harder you work the faster you will get done. School is very important and especially when you look at how much it costs... use it to your best advantage and try-try-try.... There was a time and still is times when I let hunting overturn me studying or doing homework but that is were as an adult you have to manage your time and your hobbies and realize that we all aren't capable of hunting 24-7 and making a living.... Good luck and I can really relate to you.... been there and it is tough... I don't care what anyone says!

And do you have to get them something???? (Oh yeah and keep it clean because this is a family friendly place!) He's not a fuffy fuffy kinda guy either... but I know he will appreciate anything from me... ???? I was thinking an acrylic goose call but maybe want to keep it under $100.... HELP....thanks

Re: David Blanton in SD I have met David before and will be attending the SD Sportman's show too. David is one of a kind. I love the way he incorporates hunting with his family and God. Very inspirational....

Re: Ban Jimmy Houston It won't let me sign it

Re: High fenced Jimmy Houston has a lot of explaining to do....We don't need people like him in the hunting industry. Set's a horrible example and makes me sick to my stomach. He has lost all respect I ever had for him. I say enough is enough.... this is getting ridicolous... Whatever happened to Fair Chase?????????????

Re: YOUTH DAY IDEAS.....PLEASE HELP I would ask conservation orgs. and the DNR about coming and setting up a "Station"....I have helped out with youth projects for the last 7 years of my life... I really enjoy it! Here are a few ideas: Have a dog trainer come in with labs and show them that, trap shooting, archery club came out with some outdoor targets with animals and balloons on them and shoot them with bows. Have them mix a food plot mix in a cup and tell them about that. You can offer trap shooting--shell reloading--set up a place to sign them up for firearm/bow hunters safety through the state/DNR.. put up a treestand and have an adult help them get into it.... put goose decoys out and field lay-out blinds and let them sit in the lay-out blinds. Have a zoo bring some raptors (birds) out to show the kids... have a mock shed hunt with prizes.... Hands on stuff is what usually excited the kids and keeps them interested. I would maybe have a booklet made and they need a stamp from each station to participate and then once you have all of them completed turn it in for a drawing for a nice price or something ???? There is so much to do! Let us know how you fare...

Re: Wisconsin Thanks guys! I really need a surplus tag as this hunt means the most to me this spring.... It's with my Dad who started me in hunting when I was a baby!

Re: CSI-Murder with a Bow I don't find that much of a positive advertising for our hunting/archery industry... Quote from the Bowtech site info: (You couldn't buy advertising like this if you tried and there may be a lot of folks asking "Where can I get a bow like that?" the day after the show airs".) I really don't think folks will be asking where can I get a bow like that that caused the murders on CSI!! Yeah horay and zippy do da day! And if they do they are probably they type of people you want to run from.... I remember seeing on on the new Dukes of Hazard Video that caused explosion and was aimed towards people.... not a good idea... its bad enough we hear about kids finding guns and people shooting each other with them.... I don't want to have to start reading in the news bows are the next "it" weapon.... As a personal example... a person infront of me about two years ago at Cabela's buying a crossbow and then asking the cashier how to operate it... yes that scares me... RUN! Bows are for archery shooting and to hunt valid species with NOT humans....

Re: Wisconsin Buffalo County.... do they have surplus tags? I think I am more bummed because this was the turkey hunt I had planned with my Father
