How many people are going snow goose hunting? If so do you hunt over full-body or windsocks or sillouettes? Do you hunt water or fields? What state and how many snows can you take in a day? I am hunting SoDak this year. 20 birds a day and we are doing a mix of full bodies and windsocks.. Good luck Here is a taste of some I saw in Missouri early January...

Re: Unbelievable I can justify being mad and embarassed (I am human and I have emotions) as a simple phone call to another CO if he wasn't positive the status of a Scoter being taken in SoDak would of cleared everything up vs. him confisgating it and calling us and creating an unneeded situation. I think it is great he is doing his job and yes everyone makes mistakes but if you are going to uphold a job/title as a CO and as a hunter it is your responsibility to know your species and what is applicable to harvest and what is protected....Technically it is his job to enforce the rules and regulations but if he doesn't know them or how to handle situations when he doesn't know the proper regs then how can he properly enforce them... Anyways the situation is dissolved and that is all that matters... that Scoter is back at the taxidermist and is going to make a beautiful LEGAL mount!

I am putting together a 1st Annuall All Ladies goose/duck field pit hunting weekend in Rochester, Minnesota for the fall of 2006.. Arrive December 1st, Hunt the 2nd and 3rd.....head home after hunting on that Sunday... I am working on making this as cost effective.. I am looking at around $300 per person... which includes the hunt, lodging, and your non-resi lic. I am working on food and we will be staying in these brand new lodge cabin... During the evening we will have huge dinners (elk, venison, goose, duck).. and have seminars on goose and duck calling introduction, creating the perfect spread field and water and game cleaning and preparation and shooting instruction.... I am really excited about this event! There will be only a limited number of hunters allowed for this. If you have any questions or are interested in this please let me know... email me at [email protected]...

For those of you who know me know I am a college student finishing up my Bachelor's in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology with in hopes of becoming a Conservation Officer or a Biologist. Well... this fall season while hunting waterfowl in SoDak we were water hunting and a beautiful drake/bull White Scoter came in and my friend shot it. So off to the taxidermist it went--obviously! It was beautiful and all by itself. Well sometimes the CO's go to the taxidermist to inspect what has been brought in and make sure it is legal. Well this particular CO confisgated the Scoter and said it was illegal and called my friend up for a summons to meet with them. Well we couldn't believe it... We are very-very ethical hunters and know our laws to a "T"... So we contacted the CO with the laws and regulations and he apologized and returned the Scoter... I have never been so mad and embarrassed for the CO... Unbelievable...

Re: Calling birds before season. I don't call before the season... I do scout and look for signs and possible groups as they are easy to follow where I am from because there is so much farmland and small woods they travel from woods to woods in a particular vacinity... I wouldn't smart them up... Sometimes during the season no calling is the way to go (don't laugh I am serious)... just my opinion though...

How long would you say on average it takes for you to get your deer field dressed before loading it up to be hung? How many of you cut out the tarsal/scent glands or leave them? If you cut them out do any of you every use them for scent when you are hunting??
