Heh. Keep that white crap up there to yourself. If it starts snowing here too, then it's all your fault.

That's great!! Congrats to your daughter! Those .270's sure do put one heck of a hurtin on the deer. That's what I shoot too.

My fiance (total disaster here on RT) lives in Nova Scotia and at times there's a delay on our cell phones, but usually the land line isn't that way. Justin called me on break the other day when I was at work and there was about a 10 second delay and yes.... it was SUPER annoying.

Definitely have to use those in the trail cam photo contest whenever they have one again! Great pics!!!!! :D

Luck just wasn't in my favor this year. Between not seeing any deer, the weather not cooperating, and work getting in the way, it's just not my year. I didn't enter last year, but the year before, I did, and brought home an 8 point for the team I was on. No such luck this year, not even an 'ol doe. Like I mentioned before, I'm totally depressed about this fall even though I have had an awesome season getting to shoot my first ever fox squirrel and tons of seaducks. I feel like I've let you guys down and I'm really sorry for that. :(

Here's a big West Virginia welcome to ya! Lots of great folks with tons of great info! You'll be addicted to this place in no time!

I just made 2 loafs (loaves? LOL) of zucchini bread yesterday and 1 loaf is already gone. Talk about good. Mmm. I would rather bake than cook! Banana bread, zucchini bread, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter blossoms, oatmeal raisin cookies, homemade cheesecake... you name it.

Yup, I went and saw it last night with my sister and a few friends. We went to the 9:10 showing and needless to say I wish I would have went to an earlier viewing, while there was still light outside. LOL!!!! There were many times when I wanted to close my eyes or scream, but managed to hold back. LOL! Overall, like mentioned above, Will Smith played a great part in that movie, but I wouldn't expect any less from him. Great acting. I'd give the movie an A- or B+. Not many "scary" type movies get that kind of grade. I'd recommend going to see it. Good remake of the 1971 movie, Omega Man!

I had been a member of the RT forums for a couple months and talked to Shaun_300 pretty often. One day he asked if it was ok to give another RT friend of his my MSN info so we could chat. Come to find out that friend of his was total_disaster (Justin) on here. Justin and I talked as friends for about a year online and on the phone and then I went up there in March '07 for a couple days and we totally clicked in person as well. Since then he has been here to visit a couple times and I've stayed with his family several times as well. This past October when he came down to visit, he asked my Dad if it was okay to marry me and Dad gave him the go ahead. We hope to get our house sometime next year as well as get hitched. It's great being with a guy who enjoys doing the same things you do... and before him, that wasn't the case for almost 6 years with my ex. I really was blessed to meet him and couldn't thank Shaun enough. :D

I'll stick to bait bags and playing with the lobsters that need to be banded. IMO I'm too clumsy to be around that rope, but I guess you'd get used to it after a while. Be careful Lewis!

Better you than me..... LOL!!! I hate snow....

Just a thought, but is it legal in your state to keep a live raccoon in your posession? If so, fatten it up, then shoot it later on and make a nice hat.....

Ah man. Both of my parents have diabetes and take pills for it along with the byetta shot. My mother has dealt with it since I was born and Dad just got diagnosed in the past few years. As long as you eat proper and take your meds, you'll be just fine! Adjusting to that will be the hardest part!
-
Be careful Lewis!!! I'm worried sick about you and Justin....! I'll be checking on here tomorrow to make sure you made it back okay. So be sure to PM me or something!
-
Lewis... I didn't get to see you this past time I was up to see Justin... I'm still mad about that.

Hey now, why do you have to be a single lady to judge? I can window shop... just not buy. LOL! C'mon fellas, post em up!

I would hunt around home if I had anywhere to go. The place where we hunt is an hour and a half drive away. Like I said, hopefully I'll get to go the end of this week. Saturday at least anyway. Btw - we had to use 250 ft of rope, pulled with the 4 wheeler to get that buck up over the side of a mountain. Should we have had to pull that by hand, we'd still be down there trying to drag it out. LOL. It was straight up and down.. walking down to the deer with the rope I slid half way on my butt. Walking back up was a trick in itself too. Keep your fingers crossed for me fellas.

Congrats to everyone!! It seems as though I'm the only one who hasn't shot one yet. I went 3 days last week (last monday was opener for rifle season) and the only opportunity I had to shoot a deer in those 3 days was a button buck which I'm definately NOT going to shoot. Hopefully I will be able to get out on Friday and Saturday which are the last 2 days of rifle season. I must say that I was really shocked I didn't even have a chance to shoot a doe. We're usually getting ran over with does and this time around I haven't even seen one!! I know there are several bucks still running around so hopefully one of those will hit the dirt. I need a pep talk or something... I'm super depressed. Also, another thing that makes it worse... is my Dad shot this big boy on the opening day of rifle season, only 150 yards around the side of the mountain from me. I'm super happy for him though... but I must admit I was extremely jealous. LOL! Here's me with the deer..... too bad he didn't come around the mountain to me instead.... :(

haha! thanks RC! Justin and I got out in the woods on Friday evening and Saturday morning and did a lil squirrel hunting. His first time squirrel hunting ever and me as the guide! We got skunked on Friday evening (overcast and windy) and on Saturday morning Justin shot 3 grey squirrels and lost one. Justin was tickled pink! We saw plenty of deer! On Friday night there were 15 deer in the field, but it was too dark to see if there were any horns in the bunch. On Saturday morning we almost got ran over by 7 or 8 does and fawns. Sooo there are plenty of deer around! I'm excited for rifle season in November when I get home from Nova Scotia! Hopefully everyone connects with a huge buck this fall.... I have my fingers and toes crossed, and prayers said for all! btw - I'm excited about my engagement.... but I'm afraid of spooking the deer this fall if the sun is out and it hits my new ring. BLING BLING. hahaha

Congrats Kyle!! Are we all invited to the wedding?!

Got out and went squirrel hunting this past weekend and was lucky enough to kill 5 grey squirrels and 1 nice big fox squirrel (my first one ever!) that I took to the taxidermist this morning to get mounted. I was the only one out of 4 of us that went to get their limit. On Monday morning we headed back to the woods and only ended up with 5 squirrels between the 3 of us. I only got 1. Ah well, I had a great time even though it was over 90 degrees outside both days we went. No pics unfortunately, we had to get those squirrels skinned and cleaned as fast as possible. While walking through the woods I saw plenty, plenty, plenty!!!! of deer sign. Lots of trails wore out all over the place. Only found one rub on a tree as big around as my pinky finger. It's still early though for all that. We're expecting cooler temps later this week so hopefully that'll kick things into action! We saw a small 4 point in the front yard at my cousins house eating under the chestnut trees and that was the only buck for the weekend. Plenty of does for the stew pot though, so if anything else, I'll get a doe like I said in an earlier post. Y'all keep your fingers crossed for a nice buck!!!!

Congrats!!!! I read every word of your story and absolutely loved it! I bet you almost bust a gut when that ball shot out into the field! It'd be awesome if you knew what those deer were thinking when that happened! LOL! Again, great story!
