Re: Getting Permission Part 2 oh sure he dosnt know me from the next guy i guess thats the real world though. I will keep tring on these farmers maybe someone will give me a break. I have been hunting public land for the last 15 years and am tired of the little racks i would like to see at least a mature deer but not that many to be had on public land i have hunted. I hunt long and hard on stand all day and not see anything for a couple of days i know thats hunting but i need to change up things before i get burned out of hunting

Well A week ago I posted about getting permission to hunt a farm that backed to the farm i was hunting. And well didnt go well i called the guy up on the phone because i live in florida and he lives in maryland where i hunt, The land owner owns a couple thousand acres wich he farms for buisness. I called a couple of days ago and he was not there i left a message and he didnt call me back. So i tried again tonight and he told me that his hunting "lease" were all taking, so i asked if any where coming up soon he told me not for at least two years, Funny because i did some research and found in the newspaper last year he was complaining about the deer eating him out of buisness, but it sounds to me it makes him money as well. but anyway i thanked him and said sir ill try back in 2 years thanks for your time. he then replied how did you get my number? I said i found it in the phone book...then a pause he says ok bye. What do you think, I was realy bummed out i have seen the bigest deer i have seen in the woods on his property next to the one i hunt, thats why i was wondering out baiting because its legal in my state but have never done it because i mostly hunt public land and it is not legal on state land.

Re: Baiting what do you think? its legal in my state on private land

Is baiting deer with food for hunting or is this like cheating?

Re: Why so many poor shots this year??? I think that shooting a deer is part of hunting, making a good shot and a bad shot is part of hunting. You can try to make it sound like you did it all right quick and humane but the fact is you are hunting and who says that hunting is perfect the anti would like to hear that we stick em and let them lay or they suffer, but the fact remains that deer do suffer when they are not taken as quickly as we like. This is hunting, its legal so why are we so affraid what the antis are thinking?? We try as good hunters to do better but evryone make mistakes and should try to do better. As for bragging rights should be saved until you got that deer in your hands

Re: Thunderheads vs others Shot placement...shot placement ...shot placement.. That needs to be understood, I used thunderheads and had them plaing and 20 yards 2 inchs high to the left. I switched to spitfires "mechinical" and they fly like a feild point for me, they put a huge hole in them also. this year i shot a five pointer and it cut a rib in half with my spitfire. complete pass through now thats power. It cut the rib with a blade not the point. Thunderheads work well also but i wanted complete accuracy for as i put it earlier shot placement!good luck in your choice

Re: trail cams??? I am unsure if i should leave them out im afraid a buck might rub his antlers on it, if he smells something on it that he does not like. I have them out and like the pictures. Its like hunting to me when i get a nice buck or two on the camera

Re: hunting scrapes I hunted a scrape line and got a 5 pointer this year, I believe that hunting scrape lines works great. The deer come back to the scrape and smell them to see whos been there. The buck I shot this year, 5 pointer was smelling the scrapes when i shot him

Re: Getting Desired Permission... I sent the owner of the farm I hunted last year a fruit basket and he was as happy to see me as I was to see his farm this year, My problem is I get all tounge twisted when i talk and get nervous, might sound like a idiot, I dont think a letter will work I dont want him to have to pay to call me

Ok I need some advice. I Hunt a farm that is mostly feild and was lucky enough to take a deer this year on. I would like to hunt the farm that borders this property. I asked the owner of the property that I do hunt for the name of the neighbors, and he told me. He owns a couple thousnad acres in the area in diff. spots, I did some research and found an article where the owner of said desire property, that i would like to hunt says he has a big problem with deer eating his cropps. Now I would like to ask for permission but I live out of state and is it rude to call him at home and ask to hunt his land. I was thinking of saying i was hunting on your neighbors land and couldnt help but notice the deer are coming from your land and would it be ok if hunted your property also, I would like to hunt there in bow season only and hunt a 50 acre patch of woods that borders the farm i am already hunting, does that sound rude or should i aproach in another fashion???? please help? i need some good advice
