  1. Re: Question on choke constrictions AJ, for that range and game, I agree. Mod works well for the #2s but I open it up some more when I use the Ts, just works better for me that way.

    Another move coming?

Re: Another move coming? Good luck Finn, wish you make the grade. Let me know if you get to Wright Pat, I got some good friends over that way that may get you onto some hunting. Dang TSBH, that is a can of worms. In my MOS E-6 is the bottom, if you got time in grade when you get out of the Q, you get your 6 there. Alot get there packet and the next officer on stage pins there 6 on. My sener como guy is about to pull up and move on, that opens a E-7 slot on my team. The state has a list of the E-6's as a 18E, they go to the first one with time in grade and serves and the most points. If he would like to move to my team, then he gets the slot and rocker. They do this till they get someone that will take it. Lucky for me, my team is not with the main Co. and is 3 hours from it. So, when he jumps ship, it looks good for me to get my 2nd rocker next April. We are a li'l rank heavy, the first shirt is a E-9 and the CO is a Maj. and the low life E-6 is like the Pvt. Oh well, the pay is great.

    Base Closures - BRAC

Re: Base Closures - BRAC I know that Sen. Bird is smoking mad about the 130th being on the block and I do not like the thought much myself but we will still get our C-130s to jump from some ware. Like TSBH said, I still have my job and they will also if they would like. Only thing I have to say is some one with more stripes then I made this up.

    Going to be down.

Just found out that I will have to be going away and the day is when my wife gets her sheep skin, for all the work she did the last few years in College, yes she is not happy. Soon as I get back from this trip, I will be getting my shoulder cut on. Dr. said that if they can do it with the scope, should be only 2 weeks off but if they open me up will be up to 6 weeks at home. I don't know if the wife and boys can put up with me for 2 weeks let alone the 6? This shoulder has cost me one jump allready and we have 3 more on this trip. 2 of them would be alot of fun, CH-47s, about like jumping a ballon but with a li'l forward through. I hope I can get back into it before Sep, then I will lose $150 a month. Frank.

  10. Re: Turning 30....advice needed You can do like my wife, she turns the No.s around and that make's you 03. Just enjoy life, it gets faster as you go.
  11. Re: Vegetable gardens? I am getting a late start on it this year, the only early stuff in is cab, brock, and that stuf. My shoulder has not let me get the stuff in, going to have my oldest son till it up and see about getting it in next weekend. ( I think my shoulder is getting cut on the 6th) Mommy told me, with me gone so much now, she was not going to do such a big one. We don't use chems on our stuff and she sells at the market on Sat.
  12. Re: 2005 memorial Day Message to Army Soldiers I wish to add the familys to this, I did not know just all that they go through till I had a wife and boys. I realy feel that my wife has the most important job of us all. She keeps the 4 sons going, the house and bill up and my spirits up and though all this she is allways there when needed. God Bless the familys and I can not tell my wife just how much her support of me means to me. When looking at our jobs, I know which one has the most meaning. Yes, my job is very easy when looking at her's. Frank.
  13. Re: My friend needs your prayers On the way.
  14. Re: Graduation Present Grats on everything, that is some great shooting. My Dad and Cousin love there 25-06, they are using the 90 gr Sierra HPBT GameKing and it is a great Yote and Deer load. I have yet to see them shoot a deer and not get it. I am loading this bullet in my wife's .257 Rob and it is great on deer and yotes. BTW, they are using IMR-4350 in there loadings. Good luck on the hunting and shooting and get your butt to COLLEGE now that you are still in the learning mode! I went back after 9 years and the hardest part was getting back into studdy mode!
  15. Re: Cutting the stock down? My wife is 5'1" tall and I got her the youth stock with the R3 pad on it and the fit is good for her. The stock can be had for about $35 from sits like www.midwayusa.com or Cabela's. Just something to look at, That will also give you the full stock to put back on latter.
  16. Re: Gun Safety in Schools Sparks Debate I take guns to schools alot, it is a pain to put on the dog and pony show to the school bord to let us but the kids make it worth the effort. A few weeks ago, I was part of a SF A-Team that lade out for a High School JROTC class. I also do Civil War Living History and have had a real (Made in 1861) 12# Bronz canon and all my Cav. arms at the schools. I know we can do this in Ohio and WV and some friends do it in other states also. Yes it is a big pain to get the school bord to let us but again, the kids make it worth it.
  17. Re: Gun Safety in Schools Sparks Debate I know that in Wood Co. WV in the '70s all 7th grade went though a hunters safety class and had to shoot a .22 rifle and bow to pass for gym. They also so showed you just how much damage the guns could do. For $.10 you could shot a clay bird with a 20 ga. I had alot of fun in this class and one of the game wardens became a good friend of mine from this class. I think that by teaching a kid how to use a gun right is going to go a long way in letting them know what a gun will do and alos how to keep a gun from becoming a statistic. One thing I think was missed by some here is that it is a elective class. I wish they would have it in more schools.
  18. Re: Bad news, knee is wearing out. Wish you the best in this, I lucked out, Dr. said my shoulder should be fixed with the orthopedic surgery. Hope to get that done first of the month so I can go west mid June. Won't get to jump in but still get there with the boys. Hope things get better, I do know that when Grandpa got his hip done it was the best thing for him, was up on it that same day. That was done in 1990 and I know they have done alot with this sense. Prayers for ya. Frank.

    Remembering.

Was helping my Team Sgt. load up for the day, when he said " it has been 3 years now!" One of our own was killed in Afganisan on this day in 2002. They are having a jump today for the memery of Gean, I know he is watching over us and just wish to share this with you all. I know his wife, kids and family will remember but I think we all should remember. Treestandhunter, is doing a great job in keeping this in our thoughts. Thanks. Just needed to share this with my new family here. Frank.

    ... I LOVE YOU...

Re: ... I LOVE YOU... Thanks for the reminder, I will get to do this tonight for Mommy. I don't get to see our boys though, this is the first time that Mommy and I have got a weekend alone for a long time. I will keep you all in my prayers. "If God will see you to it, God will see you though it!" Frank.
  21. This is one of my Pashions and just thought I would get something going. First off, I started hunting with BP in 1974 and fell for it then. In 1994 I started shooting Yanks and yes feel hard for it too. Something about the smell of smokey wool and looking at a blue wall marching down on you and the blast of canons to get the blood going. OK, that said. I have rifles in .45, .50, .54 and .58. I shoot a Cook and Brothers repo, in .58 on the field and at NSSA shoots (North South Shooting Assoc) but what I shoot most (live rounds) and hunt with is a CVA side lock .54 with a 410 gr, Union Minie ball with 82 gr of Goex powder. I also like the hand guns, Reb. Cav. is GREAT. So lets see ware this goes. Frank.
  22. Re: Getting Started I know that this is exstream but last year (at a reenactment) a friend of mine blew powder in his hand and face from the way he was loading. If you are loading and have the time let it set a min before doing so but do not take the cap off!!!! This will let air (read O2) back into the bore (that was used on the last shot) and if there is still a hot one in there, will set off the powder. Black powder is not lile smokeless, it will flash, instead of burn. Yes, this is not what we do as hunter but something to look at. This is a great sport and I have been in it the last 30 years, just be worned, it is addickdiv. Oh ya, shooting Yanks (or Rebs if you are into Blue.) is a rush. gess you can tell I am in to the side locks myself but my son has a .54 in line. Just get out and have fun.
  23. Re: Noriegas of the North? Buckee, we have about the same thing here, just look at the North East and west coast. How they can vote for who they do is way past me??? I do not wish to start a fite, Heck my beloved state (WV) has had to of the ones in the senet for most of my life (I am 43) and I can not stand Bird or Rockafeller, but Bird has pulled alot to keep my job. I still would not vote for him.
  24. Re: I said my goodbyes..... You got it for him and the family.
  25. Re: first muzzle loader Sorry for your luck, smokepoles are adddddddictev. I like my side-locks but oldest boy got his first 2 deer with a in-line. So get out, shoot and get hooked.
