  1. Re: Mechanical Broadheads??? Which One??? Nothing flies as true as a mechanical...no tuning nessa. ALL 3 of the Mechanical type heads I have used have performed flawlessly. They are all 100gr... NAP Shockwave("o" ring type), NAP Spitfires and Wasp Jak Hammers. All one arrow, died within sight. I was impressed with the penetration of the Shockwave 2 years ago. I made a less that stellar shot and hit the front shoulder...it went thru BOTH shoulders and a good chunk of heart, and half the arrow was thru. These expandibles opened and penetrated shoulder bones and collapsed this buck on the spot. The only time I have ever sat a deer down with a bow. I feel all the bugs have been worked out of expandibles and they are reliable killing tools. Sure nothing relieves the mind of worry better than a fixed head. It always open...but dead is dead. One broadhead don't kill more than any other. If the archer does their job, mechanical broadheads will do theirs. For the record...I keep Spitfires in my quiver.

  4. Re: Switching from Compound to Traditional...... I've been sucking up the info guys...keep it coming...I'm thinking about going traditional myself and appreciate the ifo being given to BlueJay. I'm thinking about the Bear Kodiak and the Martin Savanah, the Mathews Heritage is out of reach price wise. That would be my 1st choice. Gander Mtn had some on display. Looking for a bigger challenge and I think traditional is the way to do it.

  6. Re: It seems like a draft is just a matter of time Rangel is a Piece of S%$T...a cheap sensationalist and headline grabber. Problem is Rangel is in charge of the budget and finance committe, if he blocks funds for our troops, then the remake of us pulling out of Vietnam is bound to happen...Remember the US got a democratic congress towards the end of vietnam, the troops were denied money for the war effort , we were fighting with hands tied behind our backs and Pol Pot waltzed in and killed every free thinker he could get a hold of and some. So instead of Pol Pot, we got some other Haji Towelhead playing that role. If we don't support our troops every which way we can, we are sending them to their doom, not just poor kids Rangel, rich ones too. We can't fight a war with flowers. JEEZ! I can only imagine if Kerry got in the White House..., now we have Hillary to worry about.... might be time to move to Switzerland. Atleast they trust their people give their citizenship FULL AUTO military guns and ammo for those guns and ask them to practice year round...they are the standing army. Maybe thats extreme moving out the USA, but us sportsmen have SOME time in for ourselves the next 4 years with this liberal puke congress. Rudy and McCain are no good for guns either But McCain is a lesser of the 2 evils on that issue IMO.
  7. Re: Howard Hill DVD, The Last Wilderness I just ordered another one of Howard Hills DVD's "Hunting and fishing with the bow and arrow" Another Ebay purchase...but I got this one alot cheaper than the other one I bought. Got this one for $11.95 The 1st one 17.95+ship. Looks like I will collect all 4 of his DVD's. I will give a review of this DVD after I watch it. "Tembo" is the next one, it is about an Elephant bow hunt...with traditional archery gear...a LONG BOW! Check out Howard Hill if you don't know who he was... He is the Father of American Bowhunting... Way before Fred Bear, Ben Pearson. The Nuge for one...always says when he draws his bow " Howard Hill, Fred Bear and Ben Pearson" Howard Hill is right up there with "Ishii". Now don't tell me you don't know who Ishii was? Come on....

  9. Re: ATV Add-Ons I have a 03 Yamaha Kodiak 4X4 400, After market goodies... double gun rack, thumb extention for throttle, hour/rpm meter and just put on today as a matter of fact one of those BENZ Silent Rider ATV silencers. Will be putting tires on soon.
  10. I have a 03 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4X4. Great machine, it does all I ask and I use it good too. I just got one of those Benz Silent rider ATV silencers. I had to cut my exhaust pipe a bit, to weld an adapter on and bend the brackets to make it fit the rack( was not happy about the bending part, but the instructions said you may have to bend it), but I got it on all OK. When I started it up, right there it did not seem any quieter at all, but the pressure from the tail pipe was now almost non existant...lite puffs. I am gonna need to hear it run from a distance to determine if it was worth the money. I got it for $120 brand new, my buddy owns a bike shop and I can get off road stuff to at cost. It retails for $180, so for what I got it for I'd figure I give it a try. Anyone else have any experience with ATV muffler silencers?

  12. Re: Mr. 3 leg. Non typical anter are truly unique...they are my favs. Congrats to Gramps! Those rear legs have soo much to do with the antler growth. I have burned 2 tags in the past on injured deer. One buck with a rear leg injury last year and a doe who was hobbling this year.

  14. I posted a while ao that I ordered and got a Howard Hill DVD on Ebay. "The Last Wilderness" 90mins I have to say it was the best $20 bucks I ever spent. There is some really great footage of one of greatest archery hunters of all time. The camera work was a little crude, but the nararation(sp?) by Mr Howard Hill himself was awesome. They catch a bobcat and coyote fighting, Mr Hill takes the cat while they are fighting, then takes the mate of that bobcat a few minutes later. They catch a male and female bear fight til the death, male wins and he puts the 3 toed male bear on his hit list , because by killing the sow , it left 2 cubs abandoned. Mr Hill is out collecting specimiens for a museum, so he is out in Wyoming hunting to accomplish that. Later in the DVD Mr Hill gets that 3 toed bear with the kill on camera. Great stuff. This man was TRULY amazing with the longbow. He takes rattlesnakes and lots more with his bow. This may be old news for fans of Howard Hill, but by chance, someone who bowhunts might come accross this post and look up just who this man was, and what he did for the sport of Bowhunting as we know it today. For those that don't know...He did the archery shooting in the old movie "Robin Hood" starring Errol Flynn. He makes me want to go traditional and hang up the Mathews! There are 3 more DVD's I understand. It looks like I may have to get the other 3 too!
  15. Re: Your State\'s Rules and regs book No problem...it IS chock full of info.
  16. Re: Your State\'s Rules and regs book [ QUOTE ] The little comic-book sized pamphlet that NY hands out with the licenses is really only the highlights of the total environmental conservation laws. I once saw a copy of the law in its entirety and it consisted of two volumes that were about 1.5" thick each. I wonder just how many states provide the law in it's entirety to individual hunters. Doc [/ QUOTE ] Doc here is a link to the ECON laws of NY among many others. Laws of NY
  17. Re: What type of bullet do you shoot?? Speer 150gr FN Grand Slams in my 30/30 and 160 gr Nosler partitions in my 7mm mag
  18. Re: Your first set-up? It was 1989, and the bow was a Bear Whitetail Legend set at 60lbs. It flung these HUGE tree trunk aluminum Eastons XX75's. It too had those brass pin sights with bright paint on them. I still have that bow and lend it out to a friend the last 2 bow seasons to get him into it. Its working
  19. Re: 10/22 factory stock, factory barrel and flash These are individual items for sale. Not the whole gun. The factory stock, the factory barrel and aftermarket flash suppressor. I upgraded my 10/22 with a heavy barrel and different stock, and these parts are what is left over that I don't need. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
  20. Re: Eagle Nice Pics thanx for sharing
  21. I just got in the mail Saturday the Howard Hill DVD that I found and ordered on Ebay. Its called "The Last Wilderness" I can't wait to watch it. It is I believe one of 4 Howard Hill DVD's. I just find Howard Hill absolutely AMAZING and crave his video tidbits that are shown time to time on many outdoor shows. He is one of the fathers of Modern archery. We all owe him a debt. I'll let y'all know how the DVD is as soon as I get to watch it. I have NO doubt it wil be good
  22. Re: Road Hunting Done Right ?? I think it has been established that you have to be off the road to shoot. While it is NOT a method that MOST of us use to get our deer, it is legal in NY. Provided all the details that were given are correct. I compete with people like this where I hunt in NY's 3H WMU. I don't feel that that kind of kill is what hunters are all about. I think that kind of hunting is for people who do not want to put their time in to get a deer. Thats almost cheating...IMO. I hunted hard this year during NY's gun season, following antler restrictions too(3 on one side). Seeing no shooter bucks at all. So by the 3rd week of gun season we started doing drives. On 2 separate drives, this black jeep cruises real SLOW with the windows open by all the wooded area we are driving. I felt like a target and in danger . I stopped moving when I saw them and hid behind a tree. I had no idea if they were gonna shoot the does that were behind me that I passed on. Binocs came out he window, but no shot or gun. Scary huh?...the next day that same vehicles occupants shoot a huge 10 pter. They were roadhunting the last few days and nailed the big one in the area. How can anyone compete with hunters like that that use a vehicle to do all their leg work? Those are killers siezing an opportunity...not hunters. I don't care how bad you need the meat. I dislike that kind of hunter personally If you have ever been spotlighted at sunset by a vehicle during deer gun season, while you were walking out of the woods, you might not like roadhunters either. Thats how I feel about roadhunters.
  23. Re: Realtree Roadtrips??????? Roadtrips...Just keep doing whatever your doing...we are watching and we are liking. Michael Waddell...keep laying the smackdown on those bucks and let those Bemans and Muzzys EAT! I know they prefer venison
  24. Re: Got The Drenalin Set-Up Today Good luck with it...I hope I can buy one soon.
  25. Re: Disposing of an old computer I think there is a whole lot of mercury(bad) and gold(good) in them PC's. Where I live in NY, one has to bring the PC's and any electronic equipment to a county recycling facilty. Monitors are LOADED with poison for the earth, so if at all possible make every effort to dispose of that old PC in the most "green" way as possible. If its going into the trash, I'd take out that hard drive and ventilate it at 100 yards with my AR-15 Or give the hard drive the hammer treatment, come on...how many time have you wished you could take a hammer to the PC?
