Re: Any Success in NY Today? Nice Buck...congrats! The opener was REAL slow for us in 3H. It was the 1st year of antler restrictions (3 on a side to be legal). Doe tags were only given out to preference point holders of 3 or more for gun season. With AR's and no doe tags, the pickin's were mighty slim. There is a load of yotes, only one went down and ALOT of bear sign, scat and tree scratches. But we saw a sign that said bear left, so we went home 2 of our party decided to get primitive, they entered our land from the swamp, via canoe. Got in very quiet. A buck snort wheezed so close to my buddy that he almost dropped his gun in the swamp. He never heard one soo close before and soo loud. No shots, but plenty of laughs! We are going up again to 3H tomorrow for the weekend. Good Luck to all!

Re: Phrases that boil your blood [ QUOTE ] not to many things get me going but it really erks my taters when some one goes "man just look at those horns!" or "I cant wait to get my hand around those horns!" Whitetails do NOT have horns! There antlers b/c they are shed every year. Rhinos have HORNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/ QUOTE ] Ahemm...Are those whitetail antlers ever gonna fall off again?...No right? So they have become horns That don't fall off. I corrected a fellow hunter and he explained to me that way. He said thats Hillbilly way The phase that gets me is... "Not me Dad, I don't know what happened"

Re: Updated: Family Hunting Accident I hope he feels better and gets well soon.

Re: Check out this muzzleloader That IS progress. Welcome it. It is still basically a smokepole. A MAGNUN one at that! Price is the only thing that will hold people back. What I believe one would pay for is ALL the Research and Development that they put into making this beast. They have to get it back somehow. Besides do you think the materials in that gun warrant that price tag? You pay for all R&D and some profit too.

Re: NY Gun Hunters Good Luck everyone and hunt safe! I'll be off tomorrow for 5 days in region 3. There are antler restrictions in this area(bucks with 3 on one side are legal), so I anticipate the buck take will be down being it is the 1st year for the AR's. In 2 years there will be better bucks. The doe tags are scarce in this area also. I look forward to just being around the fire with good friends. Have a great time people!

Re: jim shockeys american pioneer Ok...heres the report. I was sighting in my gun today. I started out using the powerbelt 223gr w/ballsitic tip in front of 90 grains of shockeys gold. I had inconsistant accuracy. I was all over the paper I went back to the T/C 350gr maxi hunters. Accuracy was better, but should've been much better. This was at 100 yards. I put a T/C 1.5-5X32 hawken hunter scope on it and it should've grouped better that it did. One thing good, and bad about the powder. It did shoot very clean and loading it shot after shot was easier than if I was using pyrodex. The bad. The powder seemed to stick together in the measuring tube, and I really needed to make sure all the powder made it into the barrel, instead of just tipping the speed loader and pouring it into the barrel. I went thru 25 shots and got frustrated with the poor accuracy and put the gun away I have the barrel soaking in foaming cleaner right now and I am gonna try again next week with a freshly cleaned barrel to dial it in with. To be continued!!!

Re: Lets see your gutting knife This is a custom made gutting knife. It was handmade by a operating engineer who was in charge of maintenance for ALL the heavy equipment at the Ground Zero NY clean up. He made knives for a select few. I was one. His name is Greg Nolan. I picked out the antler for the handle, the rasberry wood and brass inlay too. The finger grooves are measured for my hand. This is a true custom. As soon as I use it...I clean it right away. It has not looked this shiney since it was made. The blood ph changed the color of the High Carbon steel, it is much darker now.

Election day is coming as we all know. We MUST do our part to keep pro gun , pro hunting and outdoors sport candidates in office. Do you have any idea of the HAVOC the dems will wreak on sportsman/women if they take control of the senate or house? Say bye bye to all your semi autos, yep, even your 10/22, and get reay to have number serialized ammo so they can track it. Thats just the beginning... Thats where we come in.... Click hereNRA-PVF.org to find Pro Gun candidates. The Dems ARE the BOOGEY MAN! Keep them away!
