Re: Disgusted w/ Ted Nugent I haven't seen the bean eating show, but, I'm sure that network forked over some B I G $dough$ to Uncle Ted to do these shows. Ted Nugent is still a outspoken proponant of our sport, for that we all owe him thanks. Wether or not he sold out... is the REAL question. I'd take the money and run too, just use some of that to help less fortunate people like Uncle Ted does

Re: Where did you meet your better half? Got my 1st apt at 21 and had some family over. I needed a can opener to open the coffee can for my guests and I did not have one. So I went next door to my neighbor and asked to borrow one. My future wife answered the door, she was the babysitter for my next door neighbors. That was 21 years ago, we are married now almost 15 years and 3 sons later. Hey! We made Squirrelhunter91, he was our 1st! He was the prototype We still havent worked out the bugs yet...

Re: MY last weekend as a whole man Good Luck with it all Hang tough, no pun intended. Heres a funny one along these lines... We have 3 sons, and before our last ones birth, we talked about her getting tied after the delivery, the last was anticipated c section. I sat there with my wife thru her c section( the Dr kept telling me to sit down, I kept looking over the curtain to see what was going on) and after the Michael was delivered, the Dr started the tube tying. The nurses were hushing me out of the room, I stopped and leaned back in and said " Hey Doc , while your under the hood... heres a extra $20... put a few extra stiches in there will ya?" With this stupid grin on my face... My wife grabbed whatever she could grab and launched it at me, I bolted from the room. I think my wife is STILL pissed about that one, that was 9 years ago.

Re: NORTH AMERICAN WHITETAIL TV!!!!! [ QUOTE ] Does a post for the show appear every episode? Did you see the deer with the lumpjaw and that huge growth? [/ QUOTE ] Yup I saw that one, it is amazing that animals willingness to survive and carry on with and amazing growth like that. It had to be close to 1/3 of its body weight, but it did not seem to interfere with the normal movent that deer do.

Re: safety harness question I agree with Tedicast, most of the free harness' they give away are junk. Unless, as he said; its a Summit seat o the pants type. I have the Hunter safty system tree stalker vest harness, it is convienient to put on, but I have seen some video of a guy testing it, by falling out of a tree and the pressure that the hunter safety system puts on this guys thighs and grion area is unbearable! He roccomend the set of the pants. He did the same test with the summit harness and was able to stay there and talk while he was hanging from the tree. With the Hunter safety system vest, he made a VERY quick effort to get back into the tree. I went back to my Summit Harness. Good Luck!

Re: Surviving Nuge I have only watched the show a few times. They hollywood the show a bit, but Uncle Ted is the best as far as promoting and telling the truth about OUR lifestyle of hunting. NO ONE gets the exposure Ted Nugent does to represent OUR sport. He may a bit hard to swallow for some, but that has always been his cutting edge.

Re: New Rifle What Do You Think? Good luck with the rifle, but you better put a recoil pad on that or something....300winmag...OUCH!!! Remington makes fine rifles, you have a good gun.

Re: camouflage for rifle ... camouflage film I have never heard of theat company tar-jac. They are in NY too! They seem to have everything a hunter could want as far as patterns go. I could not find a price on what they do.

Re: Tag\'s keep going up Gentlemen...you must petition your game commission to institute lifetime hunting licenses in your state, and buy them. That way you will be insulated from future price increases( if that is you are financially able to do it). My 2 oldest boys recieved lifetime sportsman licenses when they completed thier hunter ed and archery course when they turned 12 years old. My youngest son(9) will get one too once he takes his courses. I also have a lifetime archery license in NYS, in addition to the Lifetime sportsman license, it has already paid for itself in the 11 or so years that i have had it. It amortizes real quick with the way tags go up each year. Look into it...

Re: Agressive little garter snake... [ QUOTE ] you would be agressive too if i stomped my foot on your neck huh...i dont see why people are so afraid of snakes...?? [/ QUOTE ] If he was stomped he wouldn't have wiggled away I had it in my hand for a few minutes( I caught it didnt I?) and it kept snapping at me. I wasn't about to see it if could bite me, so I put it down, held it with my foot , told Joe to get the camera and take a few pics. Don't worry... no snakes were harmed in the making of this post

Re: First fawn pics [ QUOTE ] Great pics Joe. That doe being drug down nursing those fawns looks pretty close to the doe I think either you or your dad posted pics and asked about a while back. [/ QUOTE ] Those pics of that scrawny doe were from our other house in upstate NY, Sullivan county. This doe and her fawns are here in our primary residence in surburban ,NY Rockland county... BTW, we have some pics of a few does where we saw that sickly looking one and the does looked better than the last time we got pics of them. Who ever said she was run down due to birthing , most likely was right. They look a whole lot better now.

Re: Took AJ\'s advice... [ QUOTE ] Joe, did you lap your rings too, or just used that to align your rings ? too_ [/ QUOTE ] Joes dad here... We just alligned the rings with those 1" aluminum dowles I had spun up at my friend motorcycle shop. They were Extra high weaver style bases(from Tapco) right to the flat top reciever. We did not lap the rings, or purchase or rent a ring reamer So the REAL title to this thread should be... Took SOME of AJ's advice We went thru 500 rounds of .223 last weekend, the gun is shooting good groups(2") out to 100 yards.... thats all we are looking for from this gun right now.

Re: Mama Mia!! Suburban Bucks!! From what I understand...Texans correct me if I am wrong , but a Texas heart shot is a bullet right above the tail and driven up into the vitals from behind.

Re: THOMPSON CENTER THUNDERHAWK 50 CAL. F/S I have one of these, they were the 1st I believe of the in lines ever made by T/C with a striker type bolt. The original configuration took a #11 primer, they sell a conversion if you'd like to use the newer 209 primers. I have a 3 digit ser# on mine, Stainless w/ syn stock and bought it somewhere around 1989 or so. The Firehawk is its brother, only comes with a wood stock, The ThunderHawk I think came in olny synthetic. It is a good shooting gun and it is a T/C, you can't go wrong. Someone should scoop it up...good luck

Re: Front sight removal from an AR No, I did not remove the front sight. When we got the scope, it came with rings, We put them on just for fit and to see how the rifle will lokk with the glass on it. Those rings were standard rings. We ordered some extra high rings from Tapco, took AJ's advice on scope mounting and we got 'er done. With the extra high rings and 6X being the lowest setting on the scope, we could not see the FSB at all thru the scope. So it was not an issue yet.... We are looking at a gas block made by Yankee Hill (out of PA), ever hear of them? It is a 4 sided gas block that has 4 picatinny rails on it. A bipod would be welcome and a Surefire flashlight would come in handy for yotes at night My sons and I were up at our hunting cabin the last 5 days. We sighted the AR in dead on at 100yards. His scope is capable of soo much more, but it is uncommon to have a shot in the so. zone of NY more than 100 yards. We shot 7 different brands(PMC,Hansen,Win, Rem, Federal, Wolf and some Lake City suplus) of 55grain FMJ ammo in it, 1:9 H-Bar and would you believe it shot the cheap junk ammo the best. Yup the Wolf stuff grouped like hand loads...go figure My kids had a ball shooting that gun this weekend and it was only perfect to shoot it on July 4th. Thanks for asking... Anthony

Re: N.y./conn/pa/ jersey get-together? Hmmm, 3hours, I thought it was much farther than that. I will have to give it a serious consideration then. 3 hours ain't too bad.
