Re: LAZY SLOB HUNTERS You did the right thing. NOw as another poster posted, WATCH YOUR BACK... A person stupid enough to poach is stupid enough to do anything. Keep the OObuck by the door It would also be a good idea to bring a vid cam with you when your on stand, so if pots pand pans start banging or all of a sudden they start cutting the grass to spook the deer. Thats harrassment. Was that story in the local paper? Thats the way to shame poachers...In my eyes, they are right up there with EVERY OTHER CRIMINAL the jails are full of.

Re: Anyone try Doc\'s deer scents? Hey Ranger...My son and I won some of those Doc's deer scents at a 3-D shoot the other night. Browning put their name on it, so how bad can it be? It states that there is a combo of 2 does urine in the bottle. The same kind of scent decoy can be made using a dual tiered drag with 2 different scents on it. But I guess you don't have to that with this stuff. I have never seen it before either, but since we won it and it was free, I'm gonna use it. The prizes for the shoot were bought at Gander Mtn, they must be exclusive for this scent(s), never seen it anywhere. Good Luck!

Go check out Hate mail This is on www.crowbusters.com Some of these people don't have a clue.... MY daddy always said" you can never tell a stupid person that their stupid"

Re: Deer are rubbing already! * PICS * If its the deer we think it is...he is out of velvet for about 2 weeks now. The smaller bucks(spikes) are still in velvet. Seen one tonite. From what others have told us, the rubbing buck looks to score somewhere around 90-120" This is who we think it is making the rubs.

Re: DETERGENT FOR WASHING YOUR HUNTING CLOTHS!!! I like the sportwash also. MY wife complains when I use the dirt scented stuff(Knight and Hale) in the washing machine. So I do the wash when she is gone and I let her figure it out That sportwash works great on MANY other things also. If you have kids and pets...sometimes things get on the carpet that are not supposed to be there(barf, pee,doo doo ect). The sportwash works great in removing those stains and smells. My wife has let other mommys know too about the capabilities of sportwash. Good Product. They(ATSKO) make a good boot waterproofer also. Snow Seal its called, gotta heat up the boot with a blow dryer and rub the waxy stuff in the leather. It works REAL good.

Re: Food plot protection? Take a look at spinning pin wheels and shiny wavy decorations. Place them and hang them around the plot. They keep birds and deer out until you remove them. The constant movement of these toys spooks them. Give it a shot, for a couple of bucks.

Re: New York DMP\'s HEY LI Hunter...Are you gonna hunt that Wertheim preserve at all this year? They opened it up for the 1st time since 1947 to hunting. The only catch is you have to shoot 2 does before a buck, can only get in woods 1 hour before light, no trail markers, no leaving tree stands, no trimming of branchs, and complete orange for the firearms portion(1 week). If you can deal with that, I'll send ya the info. Those are too many rules to deal with for me.

Re: Mathews String Suppressors This thread made me go check my string silencers on my Outback. They are OK, but showing signs of wear. I have to order replacements before they go. Thanks guys.

Re: Grip advice for Mathews owners, if you have not... I seem to have no problem with my Outback grip...so far(fingers crossed). The ones on archery talk, are they wood also or some composite material? Are all the Mathews grips the same?

Re: Scrape Info Thanks for sharing that info. Come to think of it...I never did see scrape on a slope or incline. Cool info.

Re: New York DMP\'s DEC said they were gonna give out 40%less DMP's this season. Look here Deer mgt permit chances I guess it relly depends upon the area you wish to hunt. I got 2 DMP's in 3R, where I live, and if you are lucky enough to have land to hunt in 3S, then you can get all the DMP's you want. Good Luck and hunt safe .

Re: Some help needed for the disabled in NY I'd like to help out, but that is mighty far for me. From where I am, 40 miles north of NYC, thats almost in Canada! Maybe I can donate to the cause. Let me know if I can send something in support.

When will the deer start feeding in my plot???
Adjam5 replied to AvonLKHunter's topic in Land & Wildlife Management
Re: When will the deer start feeding in my plot??? Your lucky that they haven't eaten it to the ground and didn't give it a chance to take off and root. Certain forage is not palatable to deer and other animals until the after the 1st frost. I planted Northern Forage , and in it were turnips that push out of the ground at the 1st frost and they become very sweet...which is an attractant. There are a few types of seeds that become better tasting when they freeze. Give it time and they will come...thats gonna be the only green patch soon. Most everything else will die and turn brown soon. Then that will be the hot spot. Good Luck! -
Re: Acorn crop is awesome this year!!! I agree...the akins(redneckese) for acorns have been mighty plentiful around here. I have some REALLY old red and white oaks here. They both are giving a big mast crop this year. I had to take down a few oaks to open up space for a clearing behind my home. But they weren't old ones. I understand that an oak has to be about 50 before it gives off acorns. So I didn't hurt the mast crop at all. The trees were only 20-30' BIG ACORN CROP HERE IN NY too.

Re: Snappers and Blue Cocktail anyone? Hey I'm Joes Dad. Cocktail Blues are 1 pound to 2 pound bluefish. They can get up to 30 -40 pounds. They also put up an incredible fight. When they feed the striped bass just swim under them and eat the fish that falls from the frenzy. They are extreme predators and when they feed, its like a shark frenzy. They are a VERY oily fish and not too good to eat unless they are prepared special. I grew up fishing mostly salt water, but its been a while and I got lazy and forgot that these fish have big sharp teeth and are VERY aggressive. The last few years we have been doing alot of fresh water fishing and those fish don't have teeth that are too big or dangerous. I went to pull the hook out of its mouth and it took a big bite of my finger...YOWEEE!! I chucked him back into the water hook and all. This wound I suffered is extremely dangerous to me...It is my trigger finger! My bow, my gun...even pick my nose with it. I can't have that finger out of action I need to be more careful around little fish

Re: A Different Tred Barta How about a hunt with Tred and Uncle Ted Nugent? Who'd have more testosterone pumping? I like Tred and Ted and the way they get their message accross. JEEZ if everyone was the same, what a boring world this would be.

Re: Some help needed for the disabled in NY THe Savannah page wont load on my PC. Where is the location of this hunt?

Re: Favorite deer calibers IN NY State woods a shot beyond 100 yards is extremely rare. So I use my trusty Marlin in 30/30. As a back up rifle in case it breaks or drops...I use a Mod 70 in .308.

Re: has any one shot the carbon arrows. Take a look at carbon express. You can find them at Walmart. About 4 bucks a piece. Make sure you get the right poundage for your bow.

Re: Box Stand designs? Thats different. You pack some food and water and stay up there til the season ends. Heck, scent won't be a issue and the poo poo has to pile up quite high before it becomes a problem

Re: Box Stand designs? Take a look at this site. It has some pretty good ideas. Deer hunting stands

Re: Who got you? I grew up in NYC, no hunting opportunities there in the big city. WE had a summmer home that we used to shoot skeet at with Grand dads .410. I have that gun today. That was my 1st introduction to guns and shooting. Fast forward... Summer of 85, my cousins husband who is a big hunter invites me to his cabin to hunt. I take the course and go...I LOVED IT! I loved it soo much I now own a Lifetime Archery license and a lifetime Sportsman license for NY state. I went 6 years without tagging a deer. After that...I get 2 sometimes 3, 4 and 5 some years! I started bow hunting about 4 years ago when taking deer with the gun became too easy. I looked for more of a challenge. Did I ever get one! The bow is now my preferred weapon for deer. Next is a yote and turkey with the bow. Anyway, my cousin and her husband got divorced, it was a messy one. So my Uncle issued a edict of not to interact with Gary at all...he was out of the circle And you know once your out of the circle ...your out! I haven't talked to him since the divorce in 96. But since then, I moved to a NYC suburb 40 miles from the big city(deer in my backyard), I have gotten my 3 sons ALL into the outdoors. 2 of which have taken their hunter saftey courses. They have bows, pellet guns and we shoot our bows just about every night after dinner. My dream one day is to do a hunt in Alaska with all my sons.

Re: Clothes outside, or out of bag? I wash them in Sport wash 1st, then earth secented detergent. Let 'em hang out on the deck for a week or so. I also clip those earth scent wafers all over my body when I hunt.
