    Who has today off?

Yup today was our holiday. I took off Friday also to beat the traffic north to our country house. It was a great 4th. Thank you to all of the Vets who have made that possible.
  3. You Spit Norm...? Spit???... Never figured you'd say that about me or any forum member on here Union or NOT...WOW. I'll take the high road on this one...you'd spit huh???:poke:. I went through a 5 year apprenticeship, got a college education/ Assoc. deg (at night after work), make a decent wage for here in NYC, and bust my butt every single day I leave this home. I ain't living no life of luxury rolling in the dough. In my trade and all construction trades in NYC especially( the worlds largest market)...if you are not a good worker you don't work, period. I earn every penny I make, feel no guilt over it at all, and our Union is signing more contractors to working agreements. These contractors don't have to sign, they know they can draw at the drop of a hat from a large talent pool when they have work and lay off without issue when they have no work. My family is covered 100% medically(kids til 23 when in college), optically and dentally. Great salary. I have a two pensions, an annuity and a self funded 401K. All of my pension contributions are percentages of my gross wages. So the more I work, the better I do when I retire. So Norm...Tell me why I should bite this hand?
  4. I stand by this statement.

    house progress

William....ANYTHING I can do to help. It is looking just great! You guys will have a marvelous home to enjoy and grow into . Sweat equity to the 10th power there William. I see you are leaving lots of slack to work with at the elect boxes . It is easier to shape them that way. Looks like time for those devices huh? I have a box to pack;).
  8. Oh Boy...sorry to hear that Joe . My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family Joe.
  9. We are not allowed fireworks here in NYS. So my sons and I do something even better. A few of our dandy evil rifles comes out of the safe and we celebrate by shooting the day away. Target ,skeet and steel plates. Happy Independence Day!
  10. Not all unions are the same my friends. The one I have belonged to for 26 years has done real well for myself and my family. That is the IBEW Local 3 NYC. I am a journeyman wireman. 5 years of electrical school and a 2 year associates degree in Science. The college degree is necessary for promotion to journeyman. How many construction trades have college educated workers with degrees? There are no guaranteed jobs in construction unions. You don't work hard/ good or craftsman like, you don't work. What my unions does is secure a fairs days work for a fair days pay. The contractors we work for do not have to agree to be signatory with the union, but they KNOW we turn out the best and most highly trained electricians in NYC through our apprenticeship program. Unions built NYC and as far as I know. That place is standing tall. As was mentioned in a previous post. There is about 12% of the work force population that is unionized. How can 12% of anything be a detriment to the rest of the work force? Also...every non union worker is treated better(wages/benefits) by there employer because of the ground work laid down by unions to protect ALL workers. My union is not perfect and I know that. I have had lots of unemployment. That is the economy. My family and I also had medical benefits for 39 weeks after my last days work. Where are you getting that? But understand this...unions were born because of the abuses done to workers. Now if we can trust all bosses and owners to play fair...then there would be no need for any type of labor organization...right? No company would ever screw a worker(s) right? Everything a boss does is upfront and fair for the worker right? That is why collective bargaining helps workers get a fair wage for a fair days work. Not all unions are the same. As far as scabs go...they are just looking for work. All of this is being orchestrated by the corporate lawyers. Honeywell is union here in NYC. And for the record...I always vote conservative.
  11. Great pic! Take lots of 'em...they do grow up fast .
  12. This is a great victory...BUT...for how long? I am sure it will challenged again, heard and possibly over turned because if the liberal idealism being put into place by this current administration. Remember...BHO still has another winner to place on the Country's highest court. Time to clean house come November and support those who support you.
  13. Hello Jack...Good Luck with the truck;)
  14. I am thinking about taking Friday off and getting a head start on traffic headed north of NYC for this weekend. My sons and I will be headed up to our country house/deer camp to celebrate. A few of our favorite guns will get a work out on the 4th. My Rock River M4, my Romanian AK and a new toy the kids got for Christmas a GSG5 in .22lr. There will lots of Axis deer on the grill and NY venison also.
  15. Happy Belated B day Brownie...
  16. That is outrageous John. But with this current administration, laws like this can get by when the highest court in the nation is stacked with liberals and activist judges.

  22. Yes, the Commander in Chief should NEVER be criticized. But this President is making folks all over, do/say things that they have never did/said before about the leader of the Free world. I have no doubt the General will land on his feet after he gets his walking papers. .
