  1. Re: O-Ring Replacement Ya I know to replace them every year but I have only had the gun since Aug. and I shoot it about twice a week. I also clean it after every outing thats when I noticed it was bad, after saturday's duck hunt. I was hoping to get one soon in order to take it out in the morning (tuesday). Thanks
  2. I was wondering if the O-rings on my Remington 11-87 are the same as the o-rings you can buy at a hardware store? and if so what size? I would perfer a factory o-ring but I can't get in touch with my gunsmith and I was wanting to go duck hunitng in the morning. Thanks guys.
  3. Re: What\'s your favorite steel load? I used to shot Xperts Hi velocity #2's but this year I am shooting kent 3" # 4" and remington 3" #2's 1 3/8 oz and have been really hitting good. I really like the kents but it is an hour drive to get them.
  4. Re: Hey architects/engineers/designers... JERAMIE!!! I myself am heading down that very path. I am a senoir in college working on a Civil Engineering degree. Your nephew should focus very heavily on math and physics. They are the basis of every class I have taken. As for programs. He needs to learn AUTOCAD. Every engineer I know uses it and I wish I knew more about it than I do, but that is one thing I am working on. I hope this helps and wish him the best of luck
  5. Well sat. was the opener for zone 2 here in Oklahoma I took 2 other guys out with me and we ended up shooting a 3 man limit!! I've had pretty good luck so far this year. I have limited out both opening weekends. I hope this keeps up and it will be a great year. We shot quite a few widgeon some gadwalls 3 greenheads and 2 ringnecks. We took pictures but I did not have my digital camera so I'll post the pictures as soon as I get them developed.
  6. Re: Opening day in Oklahoma(pics) Ya them ringnecks are fun to shoot but a real pain to clean. Oh well a limit is still a limit no matter how you look at it !!!
  7. Well last saterday was opening weeking for about half the state. Did pretty good, a buddy and I shot a 2 man limit in no time a all. The only problem was out of 12 birds all but 2 were ringnecks! (I hate ringrecks!!!). Anyways tomorrow (11-4-06) Is opening day for zone 2. I have a pond ready that is loaded with wigeon right now. should be a good morning. Here are some pics from last weekend. How was everyone else's opener??
  8. Re: .22 Magnum opinion I have one that I have had for a couple of years now. Mine is a clip load and it shoots great. I have never put it on paper and measured the groups but I can hit my 2" siloettes at 150 yards very easily. Here is a picture of mine
  9. I just looked at the bass pro flyer and the have the readhead brand goose shells for 50$ that usually sell at $80 bucks. I have some of these and they are ok, good for adding mass to a spread. Personally I perfer the Avery shells with some motion stakes, but I guess it is what ever the wallet(or wife) allows. Last year I filled the bottom of 6 with foam to make floaters, and they work pretty good. Better than $60 for 4 floaters Anyways just thought I would let everyone know in case they needed some new shells They look like this
  10. Re: Remington 700 CDL I personally onw a 700 bdl. that I have been working on. Heres a suggestion, buy a cheaper 700 say an ADL and spend the spare change customizing it. New stock Trigger Job Steel Bedding Quality optics And end up with a gun that shoots better and still looks good. I bouhgt a 700 bdl and this is where it is to date.
  11. Re: Mosquito with a Cannon? I also shoot a 30-06 but I dont deer hunt with it because I don't gun hunt. I feel a .243 is a great deer killing gun just my opinion though.
  12. Re: Does anyone have plans for a shooting bench? I built one for the farm this summer. I'll try to make it out and take some pictures in a day or two.
  13. Well with the season right around the corner I am looking at some gear that might be helpful. So I was wondering if I could get feedback from some one that has one or has used one. Avery makes an adjustable length decoy retrever that extends out 18 feet. It looks like this. The only rating it has on the cabelas web site is from a guy that says the ends break easily. Does any one have any experience with anything similar to one of these. Also for anyone in the market for a new duck call, I just bought my girlfriend a Primos Yo' Sista and it sounds really good, I am thinking about buying myself one. As for the girlfriend sounding good, she stills needs a little work, but she is making progress. And if you live any farther north than Oklahoma Please send me a few banded ones
  14. Re: Duck/Goose calls As far as duck calls go most say a double reed is easier to blow than a single reed. But personally I think they are both about the same. I do perfer the sound of a single reed to a double but double reeds are also softer in general. As for goose calls if your just going to go out ocasionally buy a flute you should just about master it in 10 min. But if your like me and really enjoy practicing your calls than I would suggest the canada hammer II. The only goose calls I have ever blown are the Canada Hammer II, Primos honky tonk, and a goozilla. The goozilla is also an easy call, but I love my canada hammer II, plus its only $13. I hope that helps, and remember I have only been calling for 3 years and am in no sense an pro, but I do consider myself pretty good. Also if you know someone that has calls already, ask if you can blow thiers, nothing is worse than spending money on a call that you will never use.
  15. Well tonight I went out to pattern my 12 ga. with some loads I had left over from last season and was pleased with most of the results. Out to 30 yards I maintained nice dense and evenly distributed patterns with #2, BB and T. But when I moved back to 40 yards the patterns were still ok but I would like to see something better. I was shooting Winchester xpert Hi-velocity loads, so I am thinking about trying a slower heavier load like the remington sportsman with I believe 1 3/8 ounce. My question is since my gun only came with one choke (modified) I am thinking about buying an aftermarket tube that will produce tight patterns at about 40 yards with standard steel goose loads #1-BBB. I also plan on buying a basic factory IC ($13) becuase most of my duck hunting is fairly close. Does anyone have any experience with after market choke tubes at these distances with these loads?
  16. Re: Barrel Stickers/Decals Well I guess I didn't look hard enough cause I found a couple tonight. "Macks Prairie Wings" "Widow Maker" "Meat Stick" I also found one made by Browning That changes from black to an Americal Flag when the barrel get warm.. How cool is that!!!!!
  17. Does anyone know where I can find a decal that will fit down the barrel of my 12 ga. I have seen them in a lot of hunting videos but I can't seem to find any on the internet. Thanks
  18. Re: Takem 6 The hunt in SD on the Takem 8 is a great advertisement for the Benelli Nova. Steve has more trouble with that gun as it keeps freezing up and jamming that he has to use his buddies 870. It is just a fun looking hunt.
  19. Re: Another test for the fellow Oklahomians !!! I know its okies Just thought the other was funnier. I have to know its suppose to be okies, mom is from Muskogee !!! I love that song.

  21. Re: my waterfowl project update.... Sounds like it should work well. Can't wait to see pics when it's full.
  22. Re: my waterfowl project update.... Are you going to dig a pit or build a permanent above ground blind.
  23. Re: my waterfowl project update.... I assume the pipe in the middle is for draining, but how do you fill it? Do you just pray for rain? By the way it looks great. I can't wait to build my own some day. Good Luck
  24. Re: Takem 6 I bought it off ebay. Takem 8 has a lot of canada hunts which stinks cause there are hardly ever birds flying like that here in oklahoma. But there are some hunts in s. Dakota where the weather is FREEZING COLD and they are some awsome hunts in my opinion. TAkem 7 I believe has the second day of that famous Dakota duck hunt but I can't remember. Guess I'll have to watsh it again
  25. Re: Anybody trap crawfish? No ...No... No... I set it in the creek. The creek isn't very deep. And the racoons just reach down and pull them out weight and all. I guess I need a bigger weight.
