  1. Re: Takem 6 Barnie Calef is no longer the host for the takem series. I have takem 6,7,8 and this years takem 8 Steve Bierle is the host. Barnie is still hunting with them on a few hunts but he is in the background. And I agree he was a great host.
  2. I was at the bass pro in Broken arrow the other day and they where playing takem 6 on one of the TV's. Looked awsome. So when I got home I ordered it off the internet because they didn't carry it on the rack. Just got here to day I can't wait to watch it this weekend. It also came with Duck calling 101 and Goose calling 101. What a deal. for $6.99
  3. Re: Primos\' Bow Hunter\'s Vest Here is a pic of the Fanny pack I carrry I usually have my pistol on the belt also.
  4. Re: A dilema, Advice needed...(long) I am suprised no one has mentioned this yet but have you talked to her about it so she knows exactly what will happen when you take her out. Just pop in a hunting video and after one of the shots ask her how she feels about it. And remind her that it will be alot different in real life.!! Good Luck.
  5. Re: Anybody trap crawfish? I made a trap for them awhile back and set it in the creek behind our house with a can of bacon grease in it. It is almost impossible to keep the coons from dragging it off. I got tired of looking for the trap the next day and gave up. I have had better luck using a net right after a big rain when the water gets up into the grass a little bit.
  6. Re: My Remington 700 project It is a 30-06 I usually shoot winchester 165gr. soft points but am going to sight it in this time around with remington 150 gr. core locks. By the way does anyone know if the winchester ammo is still made in the good ole USA?
  7. Re: Can you do this... Here a good one for ya..!! Calculate the the height to which water will rise in a soil deposit consisting of uniform fine silt. The depth of the water below the ground surface is 20 meters. Assume the surface tension is 75x10^-8 and the contact angle is zero. The average pore size is 0.004 mm. Good Luck
  8. Re: My Remington 700 project Oh ya sorry, I was also steel bedded and the barrel fully floated. and it is still the factory trigger. I took it out once since I got it back from the gunsmith and put two shots through it to see if see was anywhere close to where it should be. Nope. With the sweet rolling down my face and getting into my eyes I figured my time at the farm was better spent fishing. When it cools down I'll sight it in. I'm also anxious to use the new shooting table I built. I'll keep you posted.
  9. My general rule of thumb is to buy a new gun every year. So far I've been doing pretty good. I have only missed one year in the past 5. And when you have a "YOU DON'T GET RID OF GUNS" rule they are going to add up fast. Here is this years lucky #1. Remington 11-87 Enjoy.
  10. I finally figured out why I was having trouble loading pics (files too large). So here it is. I have had this rifle for a number of years and finally decided to do something with it. I put a boyds thumbhole stock on it and also had the trigger lightened to about 2.25 lbs. It doesn't sound like a lot but it took all summer to get the stock. I ordered it on may 18th and it finally got to the house the 1st week of August. The trigger started out pretty good with no creep or overtravel but had about 6.5 lbs of pull. Next summer I plan to put a new scope on it. Not sure what just yet something in the $300 range. I would also like to have the bolt rejeweled and a tacticle knob installed. Anyways enough yapping heres the pic.
  11. Re: Primos\' Bow Hunter\'s Vest I also use a fanny pack. I have added a few things to the belt though, like my sheath knife, folding saw, and an extra pouch for more used items like calls once i get into the tree. And id works great just strapping to a nearby branch.
  12. I friend of mine recently bought a .357 Smith and Wesson with a 6" barrel. MANN thats a nice gun. So I started thinking, I need a Revolver. I was wondering what everyones opinion is on other brands specifically the Taurus and Ruger .357 Revolvers. Thanks guys.
  13. Re: Cheap New Remington??? I have a Charles Daly and yes it did break twice this last year but they fixed it for free and payed shipping and handling both ways. All of the charles dalys purchased after a certain date have a liftime warrenty from what I understand. Am I happy with my gun, Sure , Would I buy another CD, for the money get either an Rem 870 or Moss. 500.
  14. I am currently thinking about trading my ruger p89 9mm for a Tuarus 24/7 40 cal. Is the 24/7 a good handling gun? I am looking for something a little smaller and/or slimmer than the p89. Any suggestions?
  15. I found this on the web the other day and thought it was cool. http://www.shooterready.com/ Click on "VIEW THE DEMO" version and follow the directions. The highest I have scored so far is 86.
  16. Today President Bush came to our campus here at OSU as our commencment speaker. I was pretty cool they showed Air Force One on the news landing at an air force base in another town. Then thirty minutes lated there were six Marine Helicopters flying over the staduim. I was very close to the front only about 60 yards from the President during his speach. There were security everywhere we even had three sniper teams on the roofs. Probably the closest I'll ever get to the President. It was a really neat experience. Just thougth I would share !!
  17. Re: homemade tree stand With the price of steel these days it is just as cheap to by the $70 ladder stands at wally world than spend $80 on 1" square. Granted it is thinner walled tubing but hey it makes it that much lighter.
  18. Re: This forum is bad news... I agree. I also think we should have it shut down every semester during finals week I am haveing a really hard time studying for finals!!!!!
  19. Re: Fallin Skies 3 I'm with huntn4bucks on this one. I saw Fallin Skies with some buddies and we didn't even finish it. Just not my type of hunting video. Don't get me wrong I like the shooting. I just like to watch duck hunting not just duck shooting!
  20. Re: America\'s Slap In The Face?! That just goes to show our leaders that they do not respect our country and therefore should not be let in.
  21. Re: Scared of Physics... I had Physics I and II over here at OSU. Physics I is easy and you should enjoy it but Physics II deals with electricity and magnatism, good luck with that. But as long as you keep up on your homework and ask plenty of questions you should be fine.
  22. Re: Getting Work on a Rifle Well the muzzle brake and trigger are to help me be shoot the gun more accurately. And for comfort I want a more vertical grip than the current stock provides not to mention I would like it to be more durable. I guess I am not trying to make the actual gun more accurate just more "user friendly" But I will take your advice on pillar bedding the action. But why float the barrel instead of glass bedding or pressure bedding?
  23. I am planning on getting some work done an my rem. 700 BDL 30-06 this summer and am looking for some suggestions. I plan on having a muzzle brake brake installed and having the barrel re-blued, the trigger weight reduced to about 2.5 pounds and am also planning on putting a laminate stock on it to replace the wood. Is it possible to shoot factory ammo and still have a highly accurate rifle? And is it still nesscary to bed or pillar bed the barrel since I will be using a laminate stock?? I don't plan on starting this transition for about a month so I am open to suggestions and any ideas you guys have. thanks.
  24. Re: Carpenter bees Dad has a lot around one of his sheds and he keeps an old tennis racket hanging near by, and if I didn't know any better I'd think he enjoys whacking those little buggers!!
  25. Re: I-----HATE-----DIAL-UP!!!!!! I have cable hear in college and it is fast. We get a special deal $20 for the first 5 months then $40 a month for the next 4. divide that by two people and it isn't too bad and on a good day my connection is just as fast as the T1 the shcool offers. Now If i was just 150 yards closer to campus I could pick up that signal for free!!!
