  2. This Buck is the first deer I ever killed with my bow. I don't know about elsewhere, but here in oklahoma Oct. 3 is a little late for them to be velvet. He is a real trophy for me. My girlfriend took the pic of the doe from right underneath her, you can even see the ladder of the stand as the doe sniffs it. She really thought that was awsome. anyways enjoy and keep the photos coming.! sorry forgot the pics http://www.realtree.com/img/500/medium/Doe1.jpg[/img]]web page http://www.realtree.com/img/500/medium/Deer_4.jpg[/img]]web page http://www.realtree.com/img/500/medium/Deer_3.jpg[/img]]web page http://www.realtree.com/img/500/medium/Deer_2.jpg[/img]]web page http://www.realtree.com/img/500/medium/Deer_1.jpg[/img]]web page
  3. Re: Head shots?? I guess i'll just shoot them behind the shoulder then. I just thought if it died right there it would save the hassel of looking for it . Thanks guys
  4. One of the places i'll be hunting this weekend has a large number of coyotes which we all can agree hurt the deer population. I was wondering about where to shoot them. Almost all of my deer shots are lung shots which means they run off and die but that doesn't mean i want to chance wondering through the woods looking for a half dead or wounded coyote. So i thought about shooting it in the head which would mean almost instant fatality if i punctured the scull. So my question is do you think my arrow will pucture the scull. My shot will probably be about 20 yards. I shoot a G2XL at about 67 LBs with 55-75 shafts and 100 gr 3 blade broadheads. Any opinions of advice would be appreciated.

    TICKS???????

Re: TICKS??????? Hey that panty hose trick sounds like a good idea i'll try it next time since i hunt alone so no one can laugh. I have found that by just using a good spraying of OFF works great too although you smell awfull so it's not great in hunting situations. And as always check EVERY part of your body as soon as possible so they don't have as much time to get burrow in.
  6. I just ordered an avery power hunter in max-4 and a dozen GHG wieghted keel mallards. Just curios about the equipment everyone else uses? My list goes like this... 6 GHG FB Canada Geese 12 GHG oversized shells w/motion stakes 12 Redhead canada shells 12 water keel Mallards 12 GHG wieghted keel mallards Avery Power hunter Charles Daly 12ga. 3" Just waiting for a good weekend to head home from school and start looking for birds. I got permission to hunt a new field this year, it is a winter wheat field with a low spot that holds water almost year round i haven't had a chance to check it out yet but i've been told that it has geese in it almost everyday. I have downloaded about 20 topo and aerial maps to get me started scouting and keep track of hotspots. I almost can't stand the excitement.
  7. Re: Trying to hide a layout blind Be careful with that indoor out door carpet it has quite a shine to it if it is sunny and may flare birds I leaning more towards the camo just for a base layer and to break up my figure a little more. But still can't figure out how to hide in winter wheat?
  8. I'll am buying an Avery power hunter in a week or so and can't decide if i want the camo version or the khaki. I'll be hunting a lot of winter wheat fields and cover is limited. I thought about buying the winter wheat version of the killer weed but the photo in cabelas looks a little too light green. Any suggestions about hiding in a green wheat field. I have though about using the tall grass next to the fence line to stubble the blind, it wouldn't hide me in the wheat but would look like a pile of grass in the field. I should also mention that i will be hunting grassy embankments next to creeks and ponds too, but stubbling the blind there shoulnd't be much of a problem.
  9. I shoot 12 gauge 28 inch barrel with winchester 3" #2 for ducks and BB for geese, with most ideal shots between 20 to 40 yards and further. I would like to purchase one choke to best fit my needs. I know you need to try different choke and load combinations but i have not found any that satisfy my liking What should it be? Patternmaster, Terror, or the dead zone by primos? I am open to any suggestions
  10. Around here we have mostly small ponds scattered thoughout the countryside most have a few ducks one them thourghout the year like the one i hunted all last year. But I noticed that the drainage ditch behind my house, maybe 10 yards wide and 6" deep, was like a highway for ducks. Granted i'm in town and can't hunt here it but if i could I'm talking a limit in an hour easy! So it made me rethink my statagy. I finished printing of topo maps all around my home town. Now most of them won't hold water all year around but a few will they, will be my focus. Now i just have to find some friendly land owners and oil the o'll 12 gauge. Anyways i was wondering what kind of waters ya'll like to hunt? Lakes, rivers streams, ponds? what have you had the most success with? Thanks for the reply.
