  1. Maybe you should check out your next closest State and see if they offer better opportunities. The stupid IL season is why I didn't buy my tag. I moved her August 10 due to my wife being in the Air Force. After further investigation of the turkey season(s) I smartly decided to save my money. Coming from NY where season is the entire month of May and you can hunt anywhere in the state with your License and Tags, I don't understand why they operate like this. I'm vacationing to NY for the opening week for 8 days, even if I don't drop a bird it will be worth it cause I'm not dealing with IL retarded regulations and seasons.
  2. Congrats on the bird. Sounds like you got a golden piece of property in your hands.
  3. Great job, little light on the weight but I hear southern birs are smaller than norther birds.
  4. I'm looking for a listing of the Illinois fishing season. The only date I can find is for trout on April 2. Can anybody help me out with a link or dates?
  5. I'm looking for a good recoil pad to replace the stock on my Remington 870 Express Magnum 12 gauge and on a youth 870 20 gauge. Any recommendations??............ I was looking at the Super Cell pads from Remington.
  6. With the NY opener a little over 30 days away, I'm more excited than every other year. I will be hitting the woods with my wife for the 1st time and can't wait to see how it goes. She hasnt hunted for several years due to being enlisted in the Air Force. Anybody have any tips for hunting with a spouse? Can I treat her like I do others lol.
  7. Great 1st bird. I love it when they come in like that and you don't even have to call. Congrats to you both!
  8. Magnum referrs to magnum loads such as turkey loads. You can shoot 2-3/4 and 3" shell in your Express Magnum. With Remington guns, Super Magnum is the 3-1/2" capable shotgun.
  9. My wife didnt have this incident happen but when she was at the gas station, she got out to pump her gas and while she was pumping she heard her doors lock. Her keys were still in the ignition so the only logical answer I can up with was somebody has the same frequency as her truck and thats what locked them. Now reading this I am glad I have manual locks on my truck and will not be using the remotes to lock the doors again. Thanks for this information.
  10. Looks great and congrats on the trophy.
  11. Looking for some good spots to fish in or around St Clair County Illinois. Anybody know of any locations open to public?
  12. Stock fiber optics on my Mossberg 835 and Tru-Glo Magnum Gobble Dot on my Remington 870. I prefer the Tru-Glo's over the stock Mossberg sight.:gun2:
  13. My Off Road ride is a 2007 Can Am Outlander 500 XT EFI. With it's Viso-Lok 4 wheel drive system it goes anywhere.
  14. My 2000 Chevy Silverado has some ABS issues going on. Whn I apply the brake and am at low speeds (< 5mph) the ABS engages for a second or two due to rust interfereing with the sensor contact point. I was told that I need to replace the sensor and clean the hub. My question is...... what do I use to clean the hub and how do I go about cleaning it?
  15. I would look to see if there is a pet cock (gas shut off) on it for starters. Is it fuel injected? Call the dealer where you got it, should fix it at no cost.
  16. Heres a stock photo of my Turkey Slayer.... specs on mine: Mossberg 835 in Realtree Hardwoods Green HD with a Primos Tight Wad choke. When afield it's loaded with Federal Mag Shock 3-1/2" #5's
  17. Great sucess with that bird. Glad to see the '11' season is off to a bang and has the birds floppin.
  18. I use a HS Strut Palmers Hoot Tube. The best way to sound like an owl is blow "who cooks for you.... who cooks for you alllllllllllll". Yeah by reading this your thinking, Seriously...?? WTF. But it really works and sounds like the owls tone. One of the best things to learn is the laughing hoot. I have not done it yet but it sounds awesome and doesnt leave you with the same old tone.
  19. I use a NEF Handi Rifle in .204 Ruger with Hornady V-max in 32 grain. This gun is very cost effective and straight shooting for a person new to yotes. Also use my Mossberg 835 with buckshot for they close up dogs. :gun2:
  20. Yes Strut 10 you do have a problem!!!! The problem is they are crammed in a tote and not in a display case where they can be proudly displayed of yours and others viewing pleasure.
  21. I own a Primos Ol Glory and Ol Betsy and both work great and have brought in several birds, male and female. I also own an original Quaker Boy Majic Touch, which I have to admit was tucked away in the vest for years and not used. But last year it made its comeback by calling in several toms. All 3 are slate but it depends on what sound you like. My advise is go to your local hunting shop and play with a few calls and ask what their best selling pot call is, then BUY ANYTHING BUT THAT CALL!! You want to sound different so you will be that "new" hen in the woods. If your call sounds like everyone elses it may hinder your perfomance. Happy Call Hunting!! :gun2:
  22. Don't waste your time with emailing Wally World. Cabela's sells a ton mre than they do so thats how they come they can sell them cheaper.... BUT... if you figure in the cost of shipping from Cabela's with their cost, then figure the cost of sales tax to the decoys at Wally I'm sure they will either equal out or be a smidge less than Cabela's. As for the inflatable, from what I have read the only benefit is they hold their sape better than foam decoys.. but just weigh the options: 1- How easilly will they puncture? 2- they tend to have a higher shine than foam; ie will glare. 3- Do I wanna carry an extra sack to tote them around in? 4- What if I shoot them? foam wont pop!! Just ask yourself alot of questions and maybe inspect a few to see if they seem rugged enough for your use. And even research them and check reviews, Cabela's and Bass Pro may have reviews of them that will enlighten you on more. Happy hunting for decoys. :gun2:
  23. So it's not good for the entire spring season, just 1 of the 5 ?? Where I'm from in NY the turkey tag allows me to hunt the entire spring season and kill 2 birds. Whats the bag limit in IL..... 1?
  24. Im looking for some info on turkey hunting in Illinois. From what Ive read there are multiple seasons comprised in the spring season. Is the license good for the entire spring season or just for one of the sub seasons? The ILDNR site doesnt tell much so am hoping you guys can help.
