Stealth i 450 and external battery
nemodeerhuntersneighbor replied to kyarcher's topic in Photography & Video
You don't have to. I know that they recommend taking batteries out when not in use, but if you leave them in you can switch to them when your external battery needs recharged and keep your camera rolling. One thing I have noticed with stealth cams is that when using external battery the battery meter on the display doesn't work. You will check it one time and it will say full battery and come back after a couple days later and only a handful of pics and it will be dead. So it's good to have some extra batteries with you when you check it or leave them in. -
My 2006 Buck.....Case Closed!!!
nemodeerhuntersneighbor replied to jerdanmagic's topic in Deer Hunting
Man that is one great mount. Your taxidermist did a heck of a job. -
Any more pics of him. It's hard to tell in this pic if his brow is split or that is his G-2. Regardless a buck with that kind of character would look great on anybody's wall. That's a heck of a buck even for kansas!!!

Looks to me like the biggest one in the top picture is closest. The other deer may have longer points but the closer one is more symetrical and has more mass. He is going to be one massive mother. Looks like short brows though. Any more pics of him? Any from last year? Are the bottom 5 from south of town about 3 miles?
-
I have him right at 150" gross at the time of pics. He has a little more horn to add too. I think he'll gross in the mid 150's with a net about 150". Great deer, Good luck.

I haven't been getting hardly any pictures between my 3 cameras the last couple of weeks. I did get a couple of decent bucks though. I had been seeing lots of deer to but went looking tuesday and didn't see of anything. I guess the with the hot dry weather they are moving really late or hanging close to water holes. I had been seeing this buck with a bigger deer. I have 2 pics of this guy but I can't get a picture of the bigger deer (I have one where you can see what i assume is the bigger deers butt and that's it). I had been seeing these next 2 bucks from the road but it was right at dark and they were always about 1/2 mile off. To far to judge very well. It is out in the middle of nowhere where cornfields make an L with a bean field next to it. So I drove a fence post in the ground and put my camera on it and put some salt out. Unfortunately the bigger buck didn't come close enough to see his rack good.

I am 99.9% sure this is the same buck. He made an exceptional jump in antler size. Another year of this much growth and he will be a dandy. Anybody think its the same buck? His brows and beams have the same shape as last year. Also his left G-3 is shorter than last year Also the last pic is of the buck that was with him. Great young buck. This year Last year Other buck

Here are my first pics of bucks this season. Things are looking up this year b/c they all are going to have 10 points. Most of the bucks around here usually have 8.The buck in the first 2 pics made a nice jump this year. The last pic is of him last year. Another year and he might turn into a real good one.

Re: Corn-good I think We had some corn in 2004 that got a hard frost on it a couple of nights in a row in mid april (during turkey season) and it made it through. It looked pretty bad for a week or so but it came out of it. Its probably gonna turn purple, then the ends of the leaves will turn brown, but I bet it will make it through. We even had soybeans outta the ground at that time and they made it to.

Found the Match!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nemodeerhuntersneighbor replied to nemodeerhuntersneighbor's topic in Shed Hunting
Re: Found the Match!!!!!!!!!!!!! Measured it on google earth. Actually it was .80 miles. But our area is pretty open so it isn't that far. I saw 2 bucks in december that I had pictures of over 3 miles away in november. So although I found the sheds on my hunting spot who knows where this buck will be next year. -
I found the match to the shed i posted pics of last week. Found it a week later and 3/4 of a mile from the other side. With a 16" inside spread they gross 154" plus sheds have 12" inches of nontypical points. These are the two biggest sheds i have found. Hopefully I'll cross paths with him next season.

FOUND THIS SHED TODAY. IT IS MY BIGGEST EVER. FOUND IT RIGHT AT DARK, SO I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH TIME TO LOOK FOR THE OTHER SIDE. YOU CAN BET I WILL BE SEARCHING HARD THOUGH. HAS 5 TYPICAL POINTS WITH 4 NT POINTS. ABOUT 78" OF TOTAL ANTLER. I HAVE HAD TRAIL CAMERAS RUNNING SINCE JUNE (IN FACT I JUST TOOK ONE DOWN TODAY ABOUT 250 YDS FROM WHERE I FOUND THIS SHED) AND HAVE SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS IN THE AREA AND I HAD NO IDEA THIS DEER EXISTED. I HOPE HE HANGS AROUND FOR NEXT YEAR THOUGH I'LL POST THE OTHER SIDE IF I FIND IT.

Re: Shedding Early In Missouri, Any MO Sheds Found? It is still early yet. There are 4 bucks in this picture and all of them have both horns. I have pictures of 7 different bucks that haven't shed yet on this camera in the last couple days (Date on picture is wrong). Although I saw 4 one horns about a half mile from here, I think it would be better to wait a couple more weeks.
-
Tonight I saw about deer, 11 of which I know were bucks. 7 bucks had only one horn, 2 had full racks, and 2 (one was very bid bodied) I could tell were bucks that had shed both horns. There could have been some more bucks that had already shed both horns. This is really early here, most bucks carry their horns well into February, and quite of few into March. I really don't like to hit it hard shed hunting until after Feb. 15, but after tonight I am itching to go NOW!!! I probably will wait until it warms up and the snow melts though. Anybody else in Missouri finding any sheds?
-
The bucks are shedding pretty early around here this year. Usually most will carry their antlers through a good part of february, and quite a few will still have horns in march (I've saw a couple with horns as late as April 10). I usually start shed hunting hard in late feb. but I might have to hit it a little early this year. THIS BUCK HERE HAS SHED BOTH OF HIS ANTLERS AND IS PICKING ON A FAWN. THE ONE HORN BUCK IN THIS PIC HASN'T SHED HIS OTHER HORN, ITS BROKEN OFF JUST ABOVE BASE. HARD TO TELL IN THE PICTURE BUT I HAD HIM AT 30 YARDS IN EARLY NOVEMBER AND HE HAD ALREADY BROKEN IT OFF. NOT SURE IF THIS IS 3 BUCKS OR ONE BUCK AND TWO DOES. THE BUCK IN THE MIDDLE HAS ONE HORN. HE DOESN'T LOOK TO HAVE ANY BIGGER BODY THAN THE OTHER 2, BUT HIS NECK LOOKS BIGGER.

What is the most times in a row you will hunt
nemodeerhuntersneighbor replied to 125py's topic in Deer Hunting
Re: What is the most times in a row you will hunt I have about 15 stands so I don't like to hunt one more than 2 days in a row. Depends on the time of year though. Early season I usually don't even hunt any 2 days in a row, but late season it doesn't bother me. -
NOT REALLY BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT. MUST HAVE BEEN SHAKING ITS HEAD REALLY HARD WHEN PICTURE WAS TAKEN. KINDA NEAT, AMAZING WHAT YOU GET PICTURES OF WITH TRAIL CAMERAS.

Re: bean fields I see alot of deer feeding in soybean fields this time of year. Soybeans are 38% protein so they are very good for deer when its cold. I have cut soybean fields next to my food plot of standing corn and clover/chicory and I see just as many deer feeding in the soybeans. Winter wheat fields seem to be your best bet, though. It is the only thing green this time of year, as long as its tall enough, they prefer it.
-
Shot this buck yesterday evening (1-2-07) as he was working his way into my food plot Shot him at 40 yds. I didn't find him until this morning, he was about 1/2 mile from where I shot him. I shot an even bigger buck earlier in the season(hit him square in the shoulder bone) that I lost and I was really relieved to find this one!!!!! I got the trail camera pic on Sept. 5. I hadn't seen him or got any more pics until yesterday.

The deer are moving extremely well....
nemodeerhuntersneighbor replied to Hillbilly's topic in Deer Hunting
Re: The deer are moving extremely well.... I have been seeing really good movement the last couple of days. I saw two mature bucks Wednesday night, one of them was with a fawn doe so I think secondary rut is going on. I have always heard that deer move better this time of year when its cold and theres snow on the ground, but we had snow on the ground here in MO for 2 weeks and there was nothing moving. Now its 55 degrees and they are moving really good. The best that they have moved since before rifle season. -

Here are some more bucks from November and my first pic of a bobcat. I have yet to see one in person but my brother in-law saw this same bobcat about 1/4 mile from where this picture was taken. The picture of the buck during daylight was taken right in the middle of our gun season. I went and checked my camera about 5 minutes after this pic was taken!! He was with 2 other bucks and a hot doe that I didn't get pictures of but I saw them about 50 yards from my camera.

Here are some more trail cam pics from October. The biggest buck I have posted in my other posts but these are from different days. The first 4 pics are from cuddeback excite, the rest are from a stealth cam stc-wd2x. Both are over scrapes. I passed shots on the buck in the 3rd pic 4 different occasions with a bow. He looks like he has some potential. His right G-3 is broke off at the base. I still have more pictures to post
