  1. With as much mass as he had he probably woulda been around 160
  2. Yeah he definitely tore him self up. Ashame, he would have been a hoss.
  3. I have posted pics and video of him previously. He isn't a booner but he is an awesome buck. All my pics and vids of him are about 10 yards from one of my stands. Cannot wait until september 15th.
  4. Here are some pics from my cameras in the last week. Some of the bucks I've already posted and some are new.
  5. Unfortunately not. I applied for an Iowa archery tag and got denied for the 3rd year in a row. In the end I'm not to upset about it, considering how late our harvest is going to be and my wife and I are expecting our first child at the end of november. I was stressing out wondering if I would have the time.
  6. Yeah and rye will spread and takeover everything too. Can be very noxious especially for farmers. But if your farming for deer its probably ok.
  7. I found that it usually takes about a year to establish a salt lick. They will really start digging out a hole the following year after you put it out. It's like they like the salty dirt rather than the block. Then I just put one block in them every year to refresh the licks. I have some that I've had for 7-8 years and get thousands of pics every year of deer using them.
  8. It is a scoutguard. I have 2 of them and I love them. They are great cameras and they fit in the palm of your hand. Check em out
  9. What do you think this buck would gross? I've included pics from the last 2 years too. Here he is last year And the year before
  10. In my experience nothing works better than salt to bring them in during summer and early fall (early october). It usually takes a couple years of putting salt out until they will make a "lick". I have found they work better in places where water can stand once they get the hole dug. After a rain they will flock to their salt water hole like crazy.
  11. Heres more videos of the buck I've named splits.
  12. Heres some fresh video from my scoutguard camera. If you havent seen one you have to check them out. They're really good cameras.
  13. about 160" or a little more with a 20" spread.
  14. 2 different bucks. The first one is a clean 10. The other one is a nine w/split g-2s.
  15. Here are a couple bucks I had pics of last year and they had avoided my cameras all season until the last couple of weeks. I am hoping he might grow enough to gross b&c next year. I don't have good enough pics to age but he is 4 or 5 i think This year Last year This year 4 1/2 yr old Last year 3 1/2 yr old
  16. I had it set on burst mode but he must have kept on walking cause that is the only pic of him
  17. Hard to judge real well from this angle but give me ideas on gross score. I can't really tell what is going on with the end of his left beam, can anyone else?
  18. I agree with shockwave. You need to be closer to the bucks bedding areas. Mature bucks don't move much in early season during daylight. They will usually wait till dark to hit the food sources. I experienced this a couple of weeks ago. I shot a 4 yr old at the very end of shooting light as he came out to some beans. I heard him snap a branch off by rubbing it several minutes before he came out into the field. He was staging up in the woods a little ways back before he hit the food source. I would have my stand farther in the woods but I was right on the property line so I couldn't get any closer to the bedding area. So if you know where they are feeding and where they bed you can intersect them. Only this time of year you have to be closer to where they bed rather than feed in most cases.
  19. Sure looks like the same deer to me. Not all deer make big jumps from year to year. Looks like he added some mass and maybe spread, and tried to grow a ninth point. I have several pics of deer one year to the next that kinda stay the same size. As far as score you are pretty close. Your buddy is WAY off!
  20. Yep it was a rage 2 blade. Love them. I tried the 3 blade rages last year and didn't have much luck so I tried the 2 blade. Shot 2 deer already with them and they both ran about 75 yards.
  21. I usually don't see many nice bucks in early season so when this guy stepped out at 15 yards last night I had to take him. Most years I probably would have let him go this early in the season but since we haven't even started harvesting crops I knew I wouldn't be able to go hardly any during the rut. I think he's a 4 yr old. He weighed 162lbs after he had been gutted and caped. So I think he would have been 225lbs or more live weight.
  22. I posted a pic from an excite. Look for my thread titled beautiful under photography and video forum
