Re: Local poachers caught These guys poached alot of deer.I knowed of a guy that poached deer but he didnt kill ver buck he seen he would kill the does as well.But the reason he poached was to feed his family they were realy poor I dont even no how he bought shells for the gun.I know poaching is poaching but should this guy have been reported.

Try backing of your corn pile about 75 yrds or so once the deer figure out that the corn is put out by a hunter they will scent check the area for hunters I had deer do me this way .When I backed off corn pile I seen 5 diffrent bucks in one evening and shot and missed one of them.The very next morning same stand I had shot at buck from he came rite back in again this time he got to close 18 yrd shot .

Re: How to get deer in the open Deer are by no means stupid ok some mite be.I killed two does out of a ladder stand over my fedder.I found rubs about 60yrds from ladder stand across from my ladder stand.I hunted out of my climber on this rub line.Boy did I learn alot from the deer that morning.I saw a doe and spike come around the hill on the side my ladder stand was on they stayed in the thick cover .They got 45-50 yrds form the ladder stand and stoped and started looking dead at my ladder stand .They stood there for 10 minutes or so just watching to see if I was there.Then they moved out on the feeded and then left.I'll be dang gone if a 3ptr came same way they did and did the same thing the spike and doe had done.They learn hunters patterns just as we learn theres.Ever one say hunt diffrent stands what do you do when limited to so much hunting land.

So what your saying is its ok for guys to break the law by not wearing there hunter orange.And I guess you have never hunted thick cover and have object move at a distance and think to be a deer and scope it and its not even a deer.I guess I just must be dumb a?**

Re: Make a plate of food for the deer I use about a 150lbs of 10-10-10 fertlize.I rake The leafs out from under tree all the way out to edege of the tree spread my fert.Then I take and cover it back over with the leafs I rake out from under tree.

I was hunting some public land one yr .Heard something comeing I could make out a brown object comeing my way started looking at it threw scope .It was a guy deer hunting no orange on and was wearing those brwn carheart coveralls.Why would any one be stupid enough to do this .I mean come on its rifle seasone and your hunting a animal thats brwn I would think brwn is the one color I would stay away from during this time of yr.

I hunt on what is supose to be private property but ever body and there granny hunts it.I been useing a few tricks to swing the deer in my direction.Most of the other hunters in my area dont no what oak tree look like exspecialy white oaks.After deer seasone has come and gone I start rite away getting ready for next seasone.I start in feb by putting fetlizer on a bunch of white oaks I hunt .The reason for doing doing this in feb is the tree sap hasn't went back up the trees trunk yet this is what will carry the fetlize to the limbs. White oaks only have crops ever couple yrs So I fert red oaks as well and any other nut trees that deer will eat.I even got a couple Honey suckle patchs I fertlize.This makes the food sorce more apealing to the deer .By the time deer seasone comes around the other hunters dont have a clue what you have done cause all fert is soaked in ground.If you try this you will notice a diffrence in the amount of acorns a tree will produce .The deer love them to they will walk rite by a unfertlized tree to come to the ones you fertlized .You can fertlize any food sorce to make it more apealing to deer .I thought this mite help some other hunters out .If you guys have any other tricks start posting.

I think I'm am better hunter than the people in my comunity.I'm no trophy hunter I will pass on smaller bucks .I think alot off my success is knowing the way deer move in the woods I hunt.The deer I hunt change there movements when rifle hunter hit the woods.I have seen the way they change there patterns and it helps me to get on deer .Some of areas dont get deer movement at all during bow seasone.But soon as rifles go to poping I were to be.I have see deer bed down and let hunters walk or ride rite by and the hunter never had a clue the deer was there.They are a smart animal but I am so familar with my property that I can honestly say I could put any one on deer in my neck of woods.I think knowing the woods in my area like the Back my hand is what makes me a great hunter.

I live 5 mile out in the country on 15 acres.This year they wasnt much of a acorn crop here in ky.I have a big red oak that sits rite of the corner of my house it about 10 yrds from the corner.I have hunted like crazy with a bow this year I come in one nite from hunting and there is four does standing under this red oak I just lowerd my head and went in house cleaned up.Next evening came in from hunting they was back again.On the next evening I pulled my recliner next to the window got a pepsi and remote and set in for a evening of deer hunting.I had set there about 2 1/2 hours when my dogs started barking.I got up looked out the window.The deer were coming rite past my dog lot.I got my bow and went into the garage I already had the side door opened about a foot .Four does walked rite past the open door 5 yrds went to the red oak and started eating I let them get setteled 20 yrd chip shot largest doe hart shot out of my garage in tank top shorts and flip flops .She went 20 yrds fell over thats what I call red neck deer hunting

I have same thing on my 15 acres were I built my house there is a deer trail 5o yrds from back door .The trail is a foot wide and 3 inc deep goes entire length of property.I wanted to see when the deer were useing the trail and put trail cam out .The first nite I got 18 deer came threw the trail at 1:30 a.m to 3:45 a.m .Same thing the next four nite give or take a deer or two.But the deer just wasnt useing this during legal shooting hours.

Re: \" Times They Are A Changing \" I worked at a summer camp teaching archery and hunter safety.Most of the kids were from the bigger cities most of this kids had never been in the woods or never even seen abow before.By the end of the week they were all shooting bows guns and driving boats I had more fun watching this kids than when I went to the camp.There is somany people out there that dont enjoy the outdoors they dont no what they are missing out on.

Re: Shot the new Mathews Drenalin I got the switch back xt and love it.I dont see how it can get much better.I give $650. for my bow the guy at shop told me he would trade ever year for my bow and $150. to stay in the new line of mathews .But I love my xt cant get much better. OH yeah did some one say something about a bowtech I couldnt hear for that junkey Hoyt shooting so loud

I shoot the 4 blade muzzy 100 grain and love them I can shoot mine out to 50 yrds.Thats just goofing off in back yrd they fly good for me .One thing that sold me on muzzy is you can replace blades in seconds .They are a tuff broad head I shoot a steal drum with one passed threw one side and made dent in other never hurt head put new blades in it and hunted with it.

Re: How much weight I hurt my wriest last year torn tendeins and legmits .I switched in the spring from a bow shooting 60-70 lbs to bow shooting 50-60 .I went with the mathews switch back xt I have it set on 56 lbs I have killed 3 does with it this fall had 2 complete pass threws the one that didnt pass threw was a spine shot.As far as yardage go's I shot the bow out to 50 yrds practicing in back yard.I have 3 pins 1st pin is set for 17 .5 yrds I can shoot from 5 yrds to 22 yrds with this pin.2nd pin is set for 26 yrds it will shoot dead on from 26 yrds out to 31 yrds .3rd pin set at 35yrds will hit dead on out to 40 yrds.all these yardages was with laser range finder .Buy droping in poundage it helped my shooting better than before accident.I was very impressed so was my friends .

Re: is cva muzzleloaders accurate I have the fire bolt 45 cal magnum I shoot the 195 grain power belt bullet with 100 grains of powerdex I wouldnt be afraid at all to shoot at a deer at 150 yrds I have killed several deer with this combo it is unreal what they will do to a deer.I took my sites off and put my scope flat on barrel it is a shooting out fit.And it dont kick at all I let my friends wife hunt with it she shoot it 6 or 7 times just getting use to gun she want weigh 100lbs soaking wet no recoil
