    What is this????

    HA!! thats awesome!!
  3. Sorry to hear this... best wishes headed ur way.
  4. These guys pretty much said it all.... only thing i can add is with pike, their eyes are on top of their heads and have no problems coming up to steal a minnow, better to have ur minnow set too shallow then too deep. ( above the weeds rather than in them). And ive always had good luck with panfish with small jigs (Marmooskas i think??) that hang horizontal instead of vertical in the water tipped with a wax worm. One other thing i do to keep the minnow down is bite (yum) the bottom half of the tail off, that way u dont need as big of a sinker. Keeps them big shiners from settin off ur flag too.
  5. Way to go on the pinnie....im jealous!! dont see many of them in central WI where i hunt.... I'd better start savin my pennies for a trip down south to get me one of them !!
  6. My dad has been using an old browning side by side with modified and full fixed chokes for years now. He shoots steel loads thru it but nothing bigger than #1's... Barrels are fine as far as i know, cant see any damage with a naked eye. Still patterns the same. I agree with Leo about the steel patterning a step tighter too... Im no expert so i cant say for sure either way on wether u should or shouldnt use it with steel.....better safe than sorry though
  7. Hardest part , once u get one of them sly toms in range, is getting ur bow drawn back without spookin em. And unless your hunting from a tent blind and have a stool to sit on, shooting while sitting on the ground is a challenge.....ive been practicing that lately
  8. Just watched the video clip.....yikes what a freak accident!! hopefully all will be well.
  9. Im gonna try an whack one with the bow this year...ive already taken my share with a gun. Should be interesting....ill have to let ya know how it turns out later in spring
  10. My vote for coach of the year went to Mike McCarthy of the Packers (and not just because i live in WI ) . He took the youngest team in the league to the NFC Championship game. I guess the old saying of cheaters never win isnt true......
  11. Haha thats pretty good!!!
  12. Thats a nice lookin spot! Deer huntin work sure beats goin to work dont it?! We are workin on food plot #2 this year so im sure there is some of that brush trimming in my future too..... now that your all warmed up....u could c'mon up an help lol
  13. Live minnows i think is my weirdest food intake... the things us ice fisherman do when the fish aint bitin lol
  14. Went to my folks house to say goodbye to one of our Springers tonite...My bright eyed Ashley dog will be heading to the Happy Huntin' Grounds on thursday. After a short but devastating battle with a tumor....its time to say goodbye. Thank u for the 12 years of memories....you will be always missed and never forgotten! Goodbye ol' girl...
  15. Looks like fun to me!! Gonna have to go down to the river myself pretty soon, finally warm enough that it may have opened up again. Gotta beat the rush of the main run!!
  16. Could be bad hatch years from too much rain or predators raiding nests or who knows what else. The property i hunt has a major river as one of its borders and during the fall/winter i noticed they spend a lot of time down in the river bottom. One day there will be 40 in a field then i wont see a bird for 2 weeks. Hope they come back for ya!
  17. I would love to see some videos of big water diver hunting. Not necessarily ocean hunting. I can count on one hand the number of Mallards i've shot in the past five years. Diver hunting on big water is what i and a lot of other folks do but nobody (that ive seen) has any good quality videos of it.
  18. I have done my share of wood splitting!! And will continue to do so im sure... Thats part of my 'farm chores' i do to help out the farmer who owns the property i hunt on. He has more logging planned on the property so as long as trees are fallin, my splitting axe will be swingin. Its a small price to pay for the hunting opportunities that i would not have if it werent for him. And it sure beats pickin rocks!!

    midnight snack

I agree 100% Us Cheeseheads know our cheese!! And we do make a pretty mean maple syrup too..... but 'cheesy' ? Not a chance:cool: lol My favorite midnite snack is bananas...or pretzels with cheese ( go figure eh? lol)

    Sand Bags

I usually put a couple of them sand tubes over the rear wheels. My ford is 4x4 but i still prefer to have weight back there for freeway driving when i dont wanna have the 4x4 on.
  21. Looks like fun!! Are those coots i see in the bottom pic? I like having a few of them around rite as shootin time opens......but we get HUGE flocks of them on the lake and if they are any where near where your hunting, the divers decoy way better to them then to your blocks....drives me nutz!! congrats on the ducks!!
  22. Couldnt care less.. Most of todays christmas traditions ie. christmas trees, presents, decorations, santa claus etc have nothing to do with what christmas is supposed to be about.

    snow started already

Comin down pretty good here now too.....its got the deer movin here in the city, saw three does in the woods behind the house just a few minutes ago. Good luck Finn!
  24. Keeping Muskies is against my religion:D..... Unless i catch a whopper that i know isnt going to survive, there wont be any 'skies in my livewell:) , and the fact that i turned the livewell into a tackle box. Them two we caught weren't legal to keep either, they were too short.
