That's great to hear William. Better watch it or those darling daughters are going to be outshooting their "old man".

    Hunting Room 1

Looks great! You have a lot of taxidermy hours wrapped up in those rooms! When do you want me over for a game of pool?

    WOW

Shhhh.... Look.. look.. (where?) at the top of this thread. Oh yea I see him. That's one heck of a 10-pointer. Click. ..... .... BOOM! Dang I missed ya Frank. Congratulations.
  4. We've got some names up there, time to cast your vote! I think I like: The Waddle Whacking Feather Spreaders the best. I also like Final Roost.
  5. I just found out today that in addition to the B&C and BTR, there is yet another scoring system strictly for smokepoles. The Longhunter program by The National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. Min score is 130 for typical whitetail. Anyone ever entered a deer in this program? I took my 7 year old daughter out shooting yesterday for the first time. Started with just a cap, then 40 grains, then up to 70 grains which is what she'll use this fall on deer. I was impressed with her shooting ability at 7. Doubt she'll get a 170 B&C, but a 130 isn't out of the question. I think she'd be tickled to get a certificate if they have those.
  6. Here's another one from F&S. I did even worse on this one. http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos/gallery/kentucky/2006/07/how-judge-buck-can-you-guess-score-these-10-bc-trophies
  7. Cool game. I got a 40. Missed big on the smaller ones. Knew those below 120 were not shooters, but missed oin the score by more than 5.
  8. I became a life member about 10 years ago. I bought some recipe books and books on hunting different species when I first joined. It was like a book of the month club as everyone has mentioned. I then decided not to buy any more and really don't remember if I had to call or whatever, but I haven't received anything from them (except my monthly magazine) for about 8 or 9 years now. I believe the lifetime membership was 300.00 and that included a leather jacket I wear every winter and still wear. As far as durability it has held up very well. It was a smart move for me, but then perhaps I was just lucky?
  9. Sounds like one of the better deals going! Thanks for the link! Looking foward to hearing about your hunt in October! >Frank

    Church Shooting

Well, the church was the one my dad goes to and he knew the paster that was murdered fairly well. I'm glad his car wasn't working today. I believe the gunman tried to kill himself with a knife after his gun jammed. I read he was taken to a local hospital and was never a threat to other church's this morning. Tragedy can come at any time for anyone of us. Glad I know me and my family have a heavenly home where we will be safe for eternity.

    Church Shooting

My Bible study was interrupted this morning as police were warning local church's that a gunman had shot people during a Baptist church service in Maryville IL this morning and had not been caught yet. Don't know the specifics, but my dad goes to church at a Baptist church in Maryville, but didn't today because his car is broke down. I'm not sure if it is the same Baptist church. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29582081/
  12. Thinking about trying pig hunting in late December. Not particular on the type of pig. I have a travel trailer so lodging and food isn't necessary. Not sure if public ground hunting is feasible or trying to find private land owners that want the pigs off their land. Seems like a lot of land owners are fed up with their destructive behavior and might welcome their removal? Would travel to MO, TN, KY, Eastern OK, Northern MS, AL. Any suggestions?

    The KAT

You sure have a way with picture Steve!
  14. I thought you hunted naked Gary:confused:
  15. Since our hunts in IL end at noon I never carry water. My list: Turkey vest with: mouth call (rarely use) slate call (number one call for me) box call (on windy days) digital camera cell phone owl locator call knife head net mosquito spray license/tag about 8 shells Shotgun on sling Small flashlight on hat Padded knee gun rest Backpack with 3 folded decoys (1 jake, 2 hens) Binoculars with harness (may leave them behind this year) I bought a thermacell last year, but have not used it because the temps are generally cool enough in the mornings that the bugs are not too bad. I wouldn't say this isn't real light, but I have no problem walking 5 or more miles with it up and down steep hills. The decoys are very helpful where I hunt and worth the haul.
  16. Yea, it made a heck of a mount! That Prariestateoutdoors site is pretty informative. Had to bookmark it.
  17. Sounds like you may be trying to open a newer MS Word file (2007) with an older version of MS Word? If so you can download a conversion file from MS. What type of file are you trying to open and with what software?
  18. Great looking gun ya got there Luke. And souunds like an even better wife. I'm happy for you. No doubt you'll see many years of exceptional shooting!
  19. Went out this morning and saw plenty of sign, but not one shed. I was surprised not to find anything.
  20. I know you all have been waiting with much anticipation so here's the final "official" score: Gross: 131 inches Net: 129 & 2/8 inches Looks like everybody overbid on the Gross. However, NY_Bowhunter14 was the closest with a guess of 133. So get your spear sharpened and your game face on because now it's time to go back 1 million years to the Pleistocene era with your trusted guide Gary. 92xj, you were closest to the net with a guess of 129 so if NY_Bowhunter14 backs out you're next in line. For the rest of you, thanks for playing and better luck next time.
