Started really smoking when I was in the military (18 years old). I was a pack every 1-2 day smoker for about 5 years. I also chewed a lot. I quit smoking in 1994 when my gradnfather passed away. He was a minister and had tried to get me to quit. I went through non-sincere attempts that would last a week or two but would start back up. I had a lot of respect for my grandfather so I decided to stop as the last thing I could do for him (and me). I'm proud to say I haven't had a smoke since 1994. I continued to chew until 2001. I was under the most stress I had ever had in my life at that time and thought I "needed to chew" more than ever. I was praying to God to help me through the stress and decided to let Him get me through and not the chew. I made it through the stress and haven't chewed in 8 years now. It took major will power and a belief that my body was not in control. That my mind would control my actions, not a drug or physical cravings.

IL. has their issues as well. I've sent out several letters to legislators, I comment on web articles, I spread the word locally, what other recommendations do you have doc?

Just make sure the couch doesn't go under them.

I assume you can't see more than 20 yards once inside? Perhaps things open up near the creek? Try to find a place you'll be able to get a shot from 30 yards or more in at least a couple directions (preferably on a deer trail). Also think about the wind and have a few different locations picked out so you can move depending on the wind.

True Chris and Gary, but it sounds like smack is bringing up a change to the rules that had been in place that creates an avenue for unequal treatment of employees. A lot of people can't leave their job because they don't like the new rules. I'm not at all an advocate for drinking and driving, but I do think the same rules should apply to all employees. For instance, I work for the state. Shouldn't all state employees be held accountable to the rules? I'm not saying that rules are never in need of change, just that all employees should be held accountable to them.

Shouldn't have different rules for employees. What people do on their own time shouldn't matter unless it harms others and/or it effects their job. For instance, if a counselor for victims of sexual abuse commits an act of sexual abuse while on vacation from work. Well they may have been a model employee for 20 years, but yes this once mistake should cost them their job. Drug/alcohol use has more grey area because one can argue that it doesn't hurt anyone. Some people may be better drivers with a 0.09 blood alcohol level than some with a 0.07. However, only the 0.09 person gets the DUI and repercussions.

Ever so often the planets line up just right and things like that happen. Thanks for sharing. I'm not much of a bass fisherman, but hooked a 5 pounder one day which was truly incredible. I never realized bass could jump so high out of the water. I can only imagine the excitment of hooking 10 pounders.

My dad used to skydive a few years ago. He tried to get me to do it, but I have to wait until my kids are grown and don't need me as much. Looks like you had an intense, but good time.
