  1. That's quick alright. I doubt I'll ever have a turkey season like that here in IL.
  2. I'm new to blind hunting, but have heard that brushing blinds in help them to blend in to the surroundings. However, I saw an add in a hunting magazine for the primos cammo blinds that stated NOT to brush it in for turkeys? Wondering why that would be?
  3. Well done indeed! Congratulations
  4. Glad to hear it worked out for you. Congratulations!
  5. Always inside regardless of boot type. I always fold my pants and bring my brown socks over the top to hold them in place while I slide my boots on. I use snake boots, about a 5 inch over the ankle hiking boots, and rubber boots.

    trophy room

It's a good problem to have. Plenty of room on that wall for another 3 years. Three bucks in one year! Wow that's an accomplishment. What states did they all come from?
  7. Alright guys, help me out.If I get a mature bird this season I'm going to get a full mount. I have been reviewing pictures on the web and can't make up my mind on the pose I want (there are so many). I really like the flying mounts, but a strutting Tom is hard to beat. There are also some nice half strutting birds out there. So post some pictures of what you like the best and maybe a short note explaining why. A couple I thought looked pretty good below:

    Chicken Pox

Had it when I was about 12 I think. Lasted 2 weeks and I must have scratched the heck out of one because it left a scar near my ear. Nasty little virus that varicella zoster.

    2007 Deer mount

    Congratulations! Looks great.
  10. Hey Gary, too bad about that completely grey nose (must have been snorting lines of salt). If it wasn't for that grey nose I'd say he's the best 4X4 I've ever seen. I love the heigth on the antlers, it's just ashame that that grey nose makes them look smaller than they really are. You taxi did a great job for sure (except on the grey nose of course). Ok, seriously I meant everything I said except my comments about the grey nose. Congratulations Gary! You did good!
  11. Nice interior design ya got there!
  12. If it was a good friend this is what I'd do: (Chuck to the shoulder) followed by... Hey "name" when you going to give me that 500.00 dollars for that bow? See how he responds. If he says, yea 500.00 right. I'd like to buy it, but have been putting ya off because I'm trying to get the cash. I'd follow by saying "hey, I want you to have it free of charge." If he says, something else then just do what you feel to be right. At least you'll know.
  13. So that's why they went extinct.
  14. Not sure, depends on the size of the bird. I've always wanted a full body turkey mount (flying) to hang on the wall. If I get a jake, I'll probably pull out some tail feathers and the beard and give them to my kids. I used to pluck the birds, but since it takes so long I may just skin it out and bake it.
  15. Can't help ya with the ammo question since I'm a handgun novice, just wanted to tell you that is one of the guns I have been reviewing and man is it sweet looking! Please let us know how it shoots! Congratulations on a fine handgun!

    AIG

I was glad to see at least something being done about the AIG bonus money as well as hearing Obama's comments. From what I've heard so far most of it will not be given back and I don't know what will be done about that?? Hopefully the death threats were "just threats" and regretable words written in haste. As much as I disagree the death threats went to far. I heard on the news that a possible tax of 90% would be instituted on the bonus money which would get a lot of it back? Sounds reasonable, anyone with news on this? I'd also like to say I feel it is essential for these discussions to have varying opinions. Many of you may get tired of hearing from Muggs, but I'm always glad to see his posts even if I don't agree with everything he says. Ask yourself one question.... If Muggs posted a question in the hunting gear room would you avoid answering or help him out with an answer if you could? My guess is that most (if not all) would help. That my friends is what is needed to bail this country out. One of the most disapointing things I've seen since the new adminsitration took office is the escelating division between democrats and republicans and their being able to work together. Unfotunatley I don't see it getting any better.
  17. I guess it is just us, but we somehow manage to make fools of ourselves at deer camp that get enough laughs we don't need practical jokes. Example: Fall asleep in chair next to campfire, boots start smoking, then a hot foot wake up call. Someone attampts to adjust the logs in the campfire and is criticised from the start. "What the h#$@ you doing?" "That aint going to do it." Then the logs fall over and out of the pit for a big laugh.
  18. The Matrix pattern does look like Advantage Gary. It's raining today so I set it up in the living room and put on an older all stars of spring. My son has his cap gun and my turkey calls. He's shot about 4 strtters already!
  19. I'll be hunting the 7th-10th on public ground. Ive been going down there for almost 10 years now. I've only taken one big gobbler, but have scored on several jakes. If I call in a jake within 30 yards, well... he's seen his final roost. Good luck everyone.
  20. Hey dog, I just spoke with the guy, he's actually a resident of Iowa and running for governor of Iowa next election! Polls indicate he's a shoe in.
  21. Glad to see you with new head gear. Four years now! I suppose you're an old timer now.
  22. I posted a comment at PSO. I think it's a great idea with a couple flaws! I think it should be changed to 5 dollars a hair (why give the does in the heard a reason to scream discrimination). I also think the money should be collected by me, forms submitted by me, and the hairs counted by me.
  23. Luke, you the one with the shirt on or off?

    SIG!!!

Your sig looks great! Nice work "as usual Steve".
  25. Thanks for the replies guys. Funny how things happen some times. I had to work in St. Louis today (near a Cabela's) and got off a half hour early (which never happens). Anyway as I drove by the exit I just decided at the last second to turn off and stop at Cabela's to see if they had any blinds up. Well they had a bunch up including the Vision. I was NOT going to buy anything! I got inside and at first really liked it. It's a good looking blind, but then I started thinking practically. Would this blind be the best for me and my fidgity 7 year old next fall. I decided it was not the one I wanted after all. The very feature that drew me to it (360 degree curtain windows) is what made me decide against it. The curtains were rather loose and in a wind might rip and be loud. I'd have to have the mesh open because I don't think my daughter would be able to see well using the scope through the mesh since it was so loose. I also imagine I'd have to adjust the window several times for her to get a good shot and that movement would bring attention to us. I know it was a floor model, but it was the only one that the stitching was coming undone on (all over). Anyway I saw another one that was on sale for 99.00 the Primos Eclipse. It had the triangle windows that I thought I'd hate. It had the noisy velcro and from the picture an ugly color. However, once I was inside trying it out it was the one I liked the most and it was only $99.99. I like how the mesh can be fitted to the window very tight or left out and open. The triangle windows that looked too small from the picture actually seemed fine once I was inside. I didn't even mind the color once I saw it in person. Anyway, I walked out with one. I guess it is a lot like a bow. You have to try it out and see which one "fits" you better. Smack, you'll have to let me know how you like your Vision and what you think of the curtain style netting. It looks great for a seasoned hunter, but I didn't think it was the best for a kid. Anyway, I think i'll try it out in couple weeks during turkey season. I'll put some seam sealer on it first because most reviews indicate it leaks.
