    Worst TV Shows

My 11 year old daughter started to update me on the bachelor a few months ago since her mother (my ex) watches it. Stopped her immediately and said not only do we not watch shows like that - we don't even speak about them. I'm happy to report none of the shows listed have made their way onto my television screen and never will. Sports, Disney, National Geographic, and occasionally the news is about it for my house. I did watch the swamp people and mountain men one time. The scenery was okay I guess - they had to make up the drama which had my eyes rolling.
  2. Exactly what I do! Cam pics of does / small bucks feeding with or near cows - have never seen a big buck with them. I see them in the thick stuff on the side of the fence cows are not in. Find a creek or low area.
  3. Thanks everyone, hope he gets harvested this season so we can find out. Crazy that this deer is about 400 yards from the city mall.
  4. Looks like a great way to spend a December day!
  5. This is one of the coolest trail cam pics I've seen in a while. It's my buddies place and I generally only hunt it a few times as the area is only 20 acres and a lot of pressure causes the deer to hit the road. Anyway, I was asked what he'd gross - I thought 160 at first, but his 3's are so long I'm wondering if I am undershooting him. What say ye?
  6. Going to think about putting that on my facebook page - lol
  7. Awesome! Loving that look
  8. I do most of my archery hunting in October and early November so it doesn't effect me all that much. However, when i get the money I'll probably buy one and try it out. I've never used a crossbow and always enjoy adding something new to the hunting equation.
  9. A bit surprised. The half season compromise is dumb though. Do it or don't. Gov. Quinn signs crossbow bill :: Prairie State Outdoors
  10. How do you find hunting land? Try new things and make new friends and always ask around. For example - go to church and join a men's club. If you get a place, do not be complacent. Always look as if you do not have anywhere to go. Chances are that you'll only have the spot to hunt for a short time. Also, if anyone asks, there are No deer where you hunt
  11. Favorite hunting show Anyone that has big game hunting on at the time. Prefer camera shots from tree stands.
  12. Bought my son a traditions ML for about 100.00. Put a Cabelas Alpha series scope on it. Sale price was about 125.00 but i see now it's 150. It's a reliable scope but if you want something under 100 bucks I'd look into the Powderhorn series. On sale now for 50-75 bucks at Cabelas.
  13. Adam, sorry to hear that. William, State Farm is all I know about. They had a student discount, antitheft, and multi-line discount (I have my house insured through them and get a discount). I paid 1200 a year for liability in the late 80's and paid it myself -still had several wrecks. My daughter is 11 and 16 will be here before you know it. I was thinking about a big vehicle for a first car, but was wondering if a mid-size with good handling, airbags, and high safety rating would be a better choice. I know it's a pain parking my F-150 in the city and getting around tight spaces. Not sure if bigger is safer in urban areas? Might lead to more fender benders which will jack rates up too.

    CO Shooting

CO Shooting This mass murderer was looking for an easy target. I see why some might want a movie theatre to be a no carry zone with it being so dark, but that's exactly what drew his sorry butt to the theatre. He was looking for a place that was a no-carry zone where he could kill many people and not got shot while doing it.
  15. Happy Birthday Steve Beilgard I'll have to agree 100%! Hope ya win the lottery
  16. So you're funny AND smart! LOL Where is that young lady anyhow? She's missing out on a lovely discussion! LOL
  17. I look for creative ways to get away from the parking areas. In one area I use a boat to access the hunting ground furthest from the road. I have a short walk and when others park and start walking in the deer head in my direction. My latest strategy is to mark areas with my GPS on my computer at home. Avoid roads and I look for hillside flats. The GPS takes me to the areas.

    Dang...

That sucks! Will continue to pray for you Chris.
  20. Welcome mam and all other newbies, since we are commenting on avatars, be warned that 92xj's avatar is very misleading. He's really a 90 year old man with big thighs and hatred for Ducks. I've been here 4 years now and have never had a problem and really like everyone. Just keep it real and tell it like it is. You can make fun of me all ya want by the way.

    Tomorrow

Glad it's over Steve! Here's to hoping those crabs are extra good this year!
  22. Doc, I'll just comment on the bullet. I too have been researching the ability of my Remington 700 BDL (in 300 ultra mag) to take down an interior Alaskan Grizzly. It's consider by some to be a bit light for big bears as your 270 appears to be for Oryx. I've decided to use it because I'm proficient with it. The swift A-Frame seems to be the way to go, but I'm going to practice with it before making the final decision. Currently I use the scirocco for black bear, but plan to try the swift A-Frame. If I can't hit where I need to I'll move to a Barnes TSX or perhaps the Nosler Partition.
  23. I have two. A Remington Genesis and a Traditions. I have a Nikon Buckmasters on one and a Cabelas Alpha series on the other. They both are very accurate (I've only practiced out to 100 yards and can hit a grapefruit every time - unless I jerk). Both guns and scopes cost me about 500.00 total. Perhaps over time and further distances the higher priced ML's will show their worth, but if a 175 dollar gun gets the bullet where it needs to be at 100 yards then that's all I need. I've shot CVA as well and it was accurate. I think you can expect most any ML to be very accurate at least out to 100 yards.
