  1. you won't be field dressing much without your knife...
  2. while i don't know much about this bow because I have never shot it.. I could guess about some things just by looking at the specs... it is definitely a speed bow with an ibo of 345-350fps and a brace height of only 6 inches... which could also mean a harsh draw cycle... i shoot a hoyt maxxis 31... the smooth draw cycle is what influenced my decision to purchase that particular bow the most.. that and zero hand shock... pulling back 70 lbs feels like pulling back 60 lbs which is HUGE when you think about it... it may not be that bad when you are practicing, but when that buck of a lifetime steps out and your adrenaline starts pumping and you feel weak in the knees... i don't want to have to pop a vein when trying to simply pull my bow back
  3. cool lookin' bow!... shoot straight!
  4. smaller bucks weren't spooked by the larger decoy?
  5. just wondering guys... what broadhead are you sold on and why?
  6. stories like this make me sick... it really is a sad way for such a monarch to go... how could you illegally kill something that magnificent and be proud of what you did?
  7. you could also just smear on some black face paint..
  8. here is a pic of the trophy taker rest I was telling you about earlier... let me know if you are interested.. it has been shot maybe 20 times... not a scratch on it
  9. right now i have a QAD ultra rest pro hd rest on my maxxis and i love it... i just shot my best group ever out at 50 yards today with it! 1.5" @ 50 yards!.. i was impressed with myself!.. as for a sight i i have a truglo extreme sight on right now and i really like it.. i just wish it had more pin adjustment.. i am probably going to invest in a spott hogg at some point... and my stabilizer is the enhancer 2000 3" version with an x coil attached to top it off... i liked the x coil by itself but added the enhancer 2000 for a little more weight... there are a ton of options out there... just ask around.. but my personal opinion.... dont cheap out on the rest.. get yourself a good quality rest
  10. cool set up... glad to hear you like it!
  11. yeah i think you pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one... i drive past a large cornfield every day on my way to and from home and i have seen birds in that field just about every day... i have seen 3 gobblers in that field strutting still so i still have hope.. i have a second tag, but i really would like to get my little brother on a bird
  12. Now we are getting too technical.. thats almost as bad as the lady that spilled mcdonalds coffee on herself... if the products dont work at all and they say they do then yes those companies are in the wrong... but when you get technical about wording you're just lazy and trying to make a quick buck
  13. honestly it all comes down to personal preference... i purchased a hoyt maxxis this spring because i wanted a top of the line bow and hoyt puts their bows through the ringer so you know the bow will last year after year... a bow that will toughen out 1000 dry fires is impressive... after saying that... i got a chance to shoot a lot of bows this spring before i decided... the hoyt turbohawk is a great bow at a reasonable price.. its basically the alphamax with a cast risor instead of a machined risor.. it shoots well and is very smooth... i also liked the pse bow madness... i felt good with the bow in my hands and it shot well also.. both the pse and the hoyt turbohawk retail for about 600 or so... give or take... get out to your local archery shop and shoot some bows and see what feels good in your hands!
  14. good to hear your wife is into the sport of hunting as well!.. congrats on a good bird!
  15. thats a great deer.. congrats!
  16. if you dont mind me asking.. how do you go about asking a land owner for permission to hunt their property? did you do it as a complete stranger or did you get to know them first?
  17. that is awesome! i taught myself how to turkey hunt in the spring cause my dad works mon-sat and you cant hunt on sunday in PA... anways.. taking your first spring bird is something you will never forget... i bet you're hooked now!
