Stone Cold

Well this must be my time to share the wealth with the fellow hunters around me! Last year if you all remember a buck was killed by a guy across the field from me. I had trail cam pictures of him. It happened to me again! A distant family member got him! This is the buck that I call Shank! He was a 6x3 and I had a bunch of video on him from past two years. Here is a clear video of him and then with Dave who now is the owner of him. Congrats to Dave and I am proud of you my friend! This is his first ever bow buck! My hat is off to him!

Thank you all! Not a stud but will take since that is the first deer worthy of drawing back on. I should of let him walk knowing that there are some bigger ones out there but I am on my last week of vacation. I also am thinking back to when I passed before and never got a buck that year. So your danged if you do and danged if you dont. I still have one more buck tag so I can hold out for a wall hanger. I will be out tomorrow morning, Friday morning and evening, Saturday & Sunday morning and evening, and then Monday morning. I go back to work after that and will only make it out on the weekends. I will get a few more deer due to seeing some every time I go out just no wall hangers yet. My trail cam are getting them at night but nothing during the day. I will be swapping out trail cam memory cards tomorrow to so I will post anything good!

Team 3-Counting Tines Stone Cold 8 Point Buck 11-5-12 30 Yard Shot

Yesterday morning was a great morning! I had a very huge 8 pointer come in about 6:40 am and my stand popped so he just looked up then walked around me after about a 10 min stair down. I then stayed standing up and I kept hearing grunts across the river where the big 8 came from. I turned back around to see another smaller 8 standing at 50 yards. I then grabbed the bow and figured that he looked good enough for first blood of the year. I shot him at 30 yards with my bowtech destroyer 350! He ran about 50 yards into the wooded timber along the river. I then had another smaller buck come in and he was hopping in the CRP and came to where I shot the 8 and did a 360 and then went around me. A little bit later I then saw 4 does with a smaller buck heading my way. They came in so fast that I misjudged the doe and shot under her. Clean miss and off they went. Here is my buck and video of the little buck turning around. That video was taken with my iphone 4 "2nd to last picture"!

My two big fellas are still hanging around at night! Here are the videos then a picture of Mr. Freak who has now became Mr. Freakless! He broke off all the three main beams on the freak side of his rack. Now there is nothing on that side. He was now taken off my radar. Here is MR FREAKLESS!

I have came up with a name on this buck! His name is now..... SHANK

I will be out this sat and sun all day. I have to get in all I can since I was told today that a surgery is coming for a torn tendon/ligament in my right wrist. I hope to hold him off till after season but we will see.

I want a name for this fella and not sure what to name him. Help me out please. First one is a picture and second one is a video that you can watch.

Went out this evening with my buddies grandson. He ended up seeing some does and yearlings before I did across the field. They never got to us. We then saw two on the way out. Here are pictures of his first ever hunt.

I agree. I passed on a few littler ones last year and ended up not getting a buck at all last year. I did get two does. I have 7 shooters running this year so that is a plus. Not even the ones that my camera has not taken pictures of so I hope that it will be a good year. I want one for the wall this year.

Well I could of shot a very small yearling but I passed. I had three yearlings and a huge doe but she did not give me a shot. Better luck later. I gonna try to get out in the morning if the storms dont hit to hard. Here is the picture of the yearling with my iphone when the little fella was walking out away from me.

Going out tomorrow after work. The hunter south of me shot at Mr. Freak and missed so I hope he comes back.

Yesterday was one of the best hunting days I have had in a very long time. My daughter joined me in the stand and while in stand we saw our first deer together and it was a dandy buck but it was about 100 yards away and going away from us. On the way out from the hunt I got to the road and here was three big bucks with three does heading to the property that I hunt. If they only came in earlier. It was just nice to see deer this time. Here is our look and then us in the stand. My buddy across the field from me ended up getting this big boy a couple days ago and brought him by the house when he got him. He is 15 points and neither of us has ever seen this deer in our area. Hope more of his buddies come around just like him. Congrats to Jason.

First sit had two does at 30 and 50 and the 30 pegged me before I saw her. She did not really spook but would not let me grab my bow without her looking at me so no shot given when I was able to get ahold of my bow. Here is what I got on camera though:

Congrats Jesse! Tomorrow is opener for us here in Illinois but I will not be out until Wednesday.

Good luck Jesse and anyone else that is hunting. My season starts Monday but will not be out until Wed.

I have not checked my cams since Sept 12th and will not be back in there until my first hunting sit of Oct 3rd. Bring it on!

Here are a few video clips that I have got here the past couple weeks. One nice buck then a VERY nice 4 pointer. I had a 6 pointer that I shot and lost years ago that was the same as this 4 pointer. Words of advice to my team. I have four cameras up and three of the four had 5-10 photos on them. The fourth one is over some acorns and there was 87 photos. You know what that means, get your stand over some acorns. I have one on this spot and can not wait to get out there. It is where all my bucks are going. If you have acorns get over them!

Here is a new fella that just showed up and he looks good to me to shoot. This area is covered in acorns and they are hitting them really hard right now.
