Ok, let me ask you this. What bow would you suggest that runs $450 or under. I want a new bow, not a used one. I know that price range is limiting, but those are the resoursces I have.
Now the opinions are rolling. Thanks guys. This is what i was looking for. Kat and Redneck: I can def. go up to the 60#er, that is not one of the reasons I'm considering the ultra light. It's actually one of the major factors why I don't want it. I prefer to shoot at least 55lbs, however this bow seems to get plenty of speed and performace at 50lbs.
Thanks guys
thanks
My dad bowhunts in Michigan for 2 weeks out of the year and they used to play Fred Bear by the Nuge when they were in the trucks going to check a deer and when coming back into camp they had it blaring (letting the others know there was a kill). I fell in love with the song and starting reading about Fred when I was 17 or so. I am now 22. I have a 1968 copy of the archer's bible by fred bear and have read it. I have a small collection of Bear bows and don't really like to buy anything not associated with that company when it comes to bows. PSE is the only company that has pulled at my heart with the 26" X-Force SuperShort. That is one fast sweet looking bow. I currently shoot a Browning just because I ran across a good deal at a yard sale, but I am ready to buy my first brand new bow. All the ones I have (7 currently) are used. This will be my first bow purchase so I want to get opinions and then shoot it and make sure it's the one for me.
i wasn't looking for the cookie cutter answer of "go try it out and see if you like it"
this is a site of bowhunters (many experts and pros) and I wanted their opinion of this bow.
I am not new to the game. It wasn't like i was going to go and buy it in the box without shooting it.
It appears noone has shot it, therefore no answers to my question.
well i have shot the truth 2 and want it, but can't afford it. I would also love to have the x-force SS but can't afford it either. I had decided to keep my bow until this one came out. I think i can manage it and if it feels the same as the truth 2, i'm gonna get it. I held the young gun and liked it. I am ready to shoot this new one, but don't have anywhere to shoot it up here. Spring break starts friday. Maybe i'll go to Archer's Advantage when I get back to Little Rock.
no it is not. yes it maxes at 50lbs but the youth/women's would be the truth 2 "young gun"
Bow is almost exactly the same but the ultra light is faster and a 1/4" longer and has a higher brace height.
the idea is to get close to 300fps without the 60-70lb draw weight.
and i figured half of you guys hang out at archery shops since we have so many pro staffers so i wondered if anyone had picked one up off the shelf and shot it. It came out in January and if I weren't up here at school I'd go to my pro shop and shoot one
scent blocker and scent lok as well as x system
I choose the cheapest scent control i can.
I have boots from walmart made by survivor with "scent mask"
Scent lok is too expensive. I have whitewater scent controlled coveralls that i got at an outlet store. that's good enough for me.
well at least until i get the bear truth 2 ultra light
I have a browning rage
Limbsaver S-coil stabilizer
Tru Glo sight
peep sight
limbsavers
string silencers
whisker biscuit
It isn't as fast, but it has all the other features as the regular truth 2.
It's $379 and I'm thinking about getting one with my tax return
Anyone shot one? Your opinion? (Please no get a mathews, hoyt, PSE, etc. posts)
well this is my kind of thread. I have a fred bear "cub", a fred bear super kodiak, a fred bear F-325 crossbow, a fred bear whitetail hunter, a fred bear whitetail hunter II, and a Fred Bear whitetail Jr. (girlfriend's bow set at 40# max)
Now it's time to find a big daddy! Haven't seen a good buck since muzzleloader season in October, but I know there is a nice one in the area (well nice for me, nothing compared to the bucks posted on here everyday )
