  1. yep my girl has killed both of her deer at 135 yards (same shot on both deer, just a year apart) with that gun. However I want to add that I had always used the winchester 150gr silvertips and had great success (all but 2 of the 11 i have shot never took a step after the shot) but switched to Leverevolution 2 years ago and couldn't hit consistently. Missed 2 deer in a row and switched back to the silvertips. Tried and true and cheaper too.
  2. made a quick trip to walmart and like always I ended up in sporting goods and saw a Mossberg 535 in 3 1/2" chamber for $257!!! It comes with 3 (maybe 4) different chokes which is what my mossberg 500 and Remington 1100 are lacking (as well as the 3 1/2" chamber) I just might get that one and save some dough
  3. i don't know but the Remington 700 VTR is one sweet looking gun. It has drawn me since the first time I saw it. I want one in .308
  4. kara and i with an 8-point Kara with her button buck from this year Kara's first bass Kara, the dove hunter Kara's first deer! First ever hunting experience for her. 5 dove in 12 shots! She had just passed hutner's ed that summer My baby with my 8-point First squirrel! First time i convinced her to go sit with me in the stand
  5. killed 11 of my first 12 deer with that very gun
  6. they have no recoil and no power. I know a lot carry them, but i have always thought of it as a gang banger round. I think a .22 pistol would be better than a .380, but that's just my opinion as far as original quesiton, I'd go with the 9mm. Cheap to shoot, plenty of power. I personally have a Glock Model 22 .40 cal, but wouldn't want my girlfriend shooting it.
  7. yep seems to fizzle off about Valentine's Day here in Arkansas
  8. if the class is like arkansas' you might get her a small automatic pistol to take the class with. Here, if you qualify with a revolver, that is all you can carry, if you qualify with an auto, you can carry anything. Just something to keep in mind. Cool gun by the way. My girl would love it! She wants to get her CCL soon
  9. no need for a slug barrel. That's for those illinois guys with no rifle season . This gun will be used for turkey and dove, and perhaps ducks if i ever get the time/money
  10. well i shot it on saturday for the first time trying to sight it in. It kicks pretty good! I shot 6 rounds before I got it dialed in where I wanted it (previous owner had it pretty close) and have a big bruise and a sore right arm. Then I got out the Mauser 7mm (7 x 57) and it hardly kicks at all. Lot more fun to shoot that one.
  11. that's how i am leaning right now. Doubt I will spend the extra 100 bucks for the camo. I like it, but am looking to spend under $400 because I am getting a new bow too
  12. Sportsman's warehouse here in Northwest Arkansas is closing too.
  13. Dad just bought me one of these! A Savage 111 chambered in 7mm Mag! I'm pumped! my uncle's friend CJ was selling it and gave us a pretty good deal so Dad jumped on it. He called to see if i wanted it and i said i did but we didn't need it and i didn't have the money. he called back a day later and told me he got it. Very pleasant surprise to say the least!
  14. bought my girlfriend the Rossi .243 youth combo for $200 and got what I paid for. It's a piece of crap. Single shot and it won't open if you shoot winchester ammo in it. Have to shoot Remington out of it. She had a misfire at a deer and we didn't think anything of it until my cousin called to see if we had had problems because they got one for his nephew and it had misfired six times and they sent it back to rossi. Also you can put it on a leadsled and still not get good groups at 100 yards. The gun is a joke. Very disappointed.
  15. going to get one of these two guns for turkey season..... what say ye?
  16. went and shot the Martin Saber and it is my new favorite as far as what's in my price range. It's a sweet looking bow and seems pretty fast. I looked at the Mission by Mathews but didn't like the way it looked so I didn't shoot it. They didn't have the Truth 2 Ultra Light and I still want to shoot that one, but the Saber is currently the leader in the clubhouse.
  17. found the Diamond Rock for $340, I already have a quiver, a rest, a stabilizer so don't need to pay for the package. I have a lot more options than I thought.
  18. will check it out, my dad has a Diamond Edge. I like it.
  19. just saw the Diamond Razor Edge. It is fast, sweet looking, and in my price range. Is that the one you meant Kat?
  20. that PSE stinger is a cool looking bow and pretty fast and cheap. i like it! def. going to shoot that one.
  21. the black ices that i see are $650, where is the one you speak of? as for the mission, i like the speed but it looks pretty boring to me. I know that doesn't matter when it comes to killing deer, but I want to have a cool looking bow. as for the ebay comments. Afraid of getting a lemon. I buy stuff on ebay all the time, but don't trust it for things of this nature. I have looked around on there a lot and found some pretty good deals. i really appreciate the input though. I will print this thread off and look at each bow at my local pro shop over spring break. Maybe I'll change my mind on some of these. I am trying to keep an open mind even though i have a picture in my mind of what i want.
  22. yeah just look for cracked limbs, doubtful that your boys at the pro shop would've overlooked this. Beyond that just shoot it, see how it feels, and don't use their (previous owner) setup. Get it customized to you
