  1. Sounds like its time to hunt the neighbors farm and get in way early. That way you are already there when they come walking in and then have a little chat with them.
  2. Congrats! Are you doing any sort of diet? If so, what? I am going to have to change mine up after this week and am wanting some ideas from others that are loosing weight.
  3. Dang right, that 6-12" drop will scare the crap out of you. I know it got my heart racing pretty dang good. As far as the tubing, I am not sure why he is surprised about it. The amount of force was insanely great. Apparently more than the tensile strength of the aluminum with a hole drilled in it. One thing he should be really thankful for, is that summit used a double shear on their bolts and a decent bolt that bent and did not shear off. As far as having the upper and lower tied together. I dont have them any longer than I can reach while nearly standing but my butt still sitting/touching the bar. If that lower falls, I dont want to have to use my upper body strength to hold myself, lower myself, hold myself while I'm trying to get my feet around the platform and then pick myself back up. I want a little weight to be held by my butt. I also tie the top end of the tether high on the stand so I can reach it while sitting on the bar, that way I dont have to use my feet for really anything but leveling the platform out when I reel it up by hand to get it clamped on the tree. It might make for short up and down motions but I would rather take 10 more moves to get up or down the same distance and not have to worry about my foot platform falling a great distance and not being able to retreive it.
  4. SInce I cant edit old post, I will apologize now and say I was wrong about the drop the guy took. It was 5 feet, not 6. I was wrong. It does change the numbers up some, but still no where close to Summit's specs. I stand by my numbers and knowledge of metal. I do not stand by my reading comprehension.
  5. It really just blows my mind that people try to find fault in everything else but their own actions. Not a single stand out there is made to be dropped 6 full feet and catch a 225 lbs man. He did something wrong. Man up and admit your fault. If I drop my gun 2 feet and it hits the ground scope first. I then shoot it and its off. I dont call out the base, rings, or scope manufacturer. I kick myself, saying I did something dumb. It's my fault, I take the blame.
  6. Nope, not at all. I just understand the properties of metal, the forces they can withstand and how they react in certain situations. I would be saying the same thing about any stand company in question. I could care less about names of products.
  7. Corey is pretty bummed. The morning hunt is already over. The private land they are hunting is only corn and alfalfa fields. The morning hunt consist of them watching the fields. By 8am the deer have moved off the fields and into the bottoms which they do not have permission to hunt. They only saw two does this morning. Nothing seems to be looking good for Corey.
  8. Here is a pic of the cook's deer.
  9. The guys are in their set up and have had "Tons of does" come by. Hopefully something big will show up soon.
  10. Each one has its own single nail. It does use up great wall space, but I cant think of anything greater to use the wall for than my passion for duck hunting. I have all my tools and yard stuff to the left of all the bags and on the other side of the garage is my deep freezer and other random stuff. I have no other need for that wall and it actually cleared a ton of floor space which is much more important to me. I just like to take really good care of stuff I buy to hunt with. I dont want any chipped paint so this takes care of that problem. Eventually, I would like to hang some plywood a foot down from the ceiling, rip small slits in it so I can hang them upside down by the keels. But until I need that wall space or get the urge to build something like that, this works great.
  11. Monday weigh-in. I am at 227.2lbs. Lightest I have been in 10 years. Started at 241.8. 241.8 - 227.2 = 14.6lbs Weight loss percentage = 6.04% My goal has been 225lbs by next Monday. Hopefully all goes well and I hit that. Edit: A couple of years ago, I was at my heaviest, 274lbs. Being at 227.2lbs now is a good feeling. So, I am down 46.8lbs.
  12. What are you completely disagreeing about? The fact that the stand took a shock load of 500-1600 lbs? Yeah, everyone will slip some with a climber. I thing the most I have ever had was climbing a pine and the bark gave way and I slipped maybe 8 inches max. Luckily I was not stupid enough to have my teather to my foot stand 6 feet long like the guy that posted and was able to just stand up. I have never had the foot section slip. Heck, I bet if the stand was made out of the same thickness steel, it would have bent or ovaled the hole and ripped some. Under normal climbing conditions, the guy should never not be touching the lower or upper section. Maybe I am reading his story wrong, but it sure seems like he feel 6 feet with no resistance until it grabbed the tree and came to a sudden stop.
  13. The camp cook took a nice 4x4 this evening right behind their camp. Waiting for pics to come in to show you guys.
  14. The guys had two small bucks come in but thats about it. Will see what the morning brings.
  15. Great looking deer. I would like to see that bottom deer straight on. Looks like some nice curls at the tips of his main beams.
  16. Thats awesome! BTW, your geese sound sick, like they have a cold or something.
  17. The guys did have a warden with them when they thought about crossing the fence. The warden had them stay on their side while he crossed the fence to look. Corey said the warden was not too interested in looking very hard and was done within 15 minutes. When he got back, the warden really didnt offer any advice and just kind of left it at that. So, not sure what they are going to do.
  18. Huge track. hair more hair
  19. 2 does just walked into the field. Tim glassed this field after he killed his buck and saw a number of does and smaller bucks. Rodney and Clint know there is a 150-160 class buck cruising the area and has been seen in the field. Hopefully he walks out.
  20. You do know you can smile in pictures, sweet cheeks.
  21. Well, apparently boys will be boys, They came up with a plan at camp and all walked to the site of the attack. It apparently was hungry for deer that one of the guys was hunting. Here are some pics.... Cat track. Where it pounced from. Where it hit the deer. Blood and hair.
  22. Here is what the guys are looking at this afternoon.
  23. Mid day update, Mountain Lion attack witnessed by camp member. Story sometime soon when Corey can get by a computer. No one was injured, the attack was on another animal......
