Here's what happened to me around christmas. I got home one friday, and the UPS man had dropped off a gourmet coffee maker. I became really suspicious, so i got online and looked at my account (debit card). I had a lot of charges to places like AARP membership, mag subscriptions, vitamin clubs, you name it. They were all sent to my house and were monthy recurring charges for hundreds of dollars a month. I dont get it! Why steal my ID and then have junk sent to me?!? Meanness i suppose. Then this week i got a letter saying my wife's card was amongst the millions stolen in the big scam a week or so ago. It's not a matter of IF your ID is stolen guys....its a matter of WHEN!!! Call experian, equifax, or that other one. One call to any of those big 3 and they will share your info with all three and put a 60 day credit freeze on your ID. If i can find that number, i'll post it. It's an automated call and easy to use, they'll send you a letter and notify you if anyone tries to create credit in your name. It's just such a stinking hassle!!

i'm thinking this year, i'm gonna back down from the 3.5" and just pattern some 3". Aside from the hard kick, i've had a few ppl tell me they patterned better in their 835s. I'm getting less and less thrilled on the stoegers after this thread. thanks guys

I've tried several of the dome callers and havent liked any of them. Not the way it felt, but the tones were'nt right. Everyone's mouth has a different shape, so one that i can get down and raspy with may sound like crap when you blow it. But that's the beauty of diaphrams, they're so cheap, just keep buying and blowing till you get what you like, unlike slates and boxes.

I agree, i think that deer will push upper 140s, but cant really tell the scale. Great Find! Too bad he ended up like that though.
-
Try a browning, I love mine, and it was way cheaper than 80 bucks. awesome little lights in several sizes. I use the 2C and is SUPER bright. And you'll pick up one around 20-50 bucks depending on size. Also, not to hijack this thread, but everybody i know at the camp now has these "blood" lights. you know, they turn red, or blue, or whatever. AND everyone i know that has them has the same opinion i do, THEY DONT WORK!!!

I believe the correct spelling is "chitterling" which is hog intestines. you can boil them or fry them. i prefer the boiled. I can post a recipie, but they need to be in a forum of their own, they tend to give off a bit of aroma some find offensive.....hehehee and yeah, orlan, they'll clog up the ticker faster than anything i know...

I've used it, and deer eat it pretty good. BUT, your pouring out a feed with pellets in it, so it does not do well on the ground at all. Any moisture or rain will turn it to mush. Deer aint nothing but high-powered goats, and it dont take a lot of imagination to come up with something they like. I think it boils down to your intentions. Are you trying to grow horns, or just attract them?

i'll keep that in mind. I heard the lumenoks were a lot brighter then tracers.... is that true?
-
Nice selection. I take it you like the WSM. What do you do, flip a coin to see which one to pick up?
-
I know, i know, i should congratulate you...... But... i'm thinking about your wife's uncle and the fact that deer come through here everyday. You've had that thing out since christmas!!! Wow! Maybe they USED to come out there every day....During the Reagan administration..... hahahaa.....jk

Nice footage: Next year I want some lumenoks: Nice one

That's a sweet place you got there, nut. Hopefully they'll stick around, but mine usually hang around till late jan, then god only knows where they get to, cuz most of them are gone when season rolls in. We got 1500 acres, and you'll see some long bears at the end of deer season, but come march, your hard pressed to hear (or see) a bird. that sux huh?

Well, McDonald's has those McRib Sandwiches from time to time, you can eat those, maintain your manhood by telling guy you like ribs.... Even though there's probably not even meat in there.... I bet you dont eat chittlins either?........heheheheee
-
Your old lady let you simmer a bear head in the kitchen?
-
I found this one on youtube, looked pretty neat. BUT.....my wife aint lettin me boil no head in the kitchen....... Also, been about five weeks in water, and looking real good. clean skull on top, jaw pulled off, eye sockets pulled clean with needlenose. It really is a super easy way to go, as long as you can stomach a little (lot) of rotten odor when you have to work with it. I'll post pics when i get done. john

Say it aint so!! Man we need to send you a rib care package....your cholesterol level could be falling to a dangerously low level! Seriously, ribs are great and not hard to cook. You need a simple smoker, or a grill of decent size for some indirect heat, and your set! And ok, ok...i'll admit it, i have boiled spare ribs during the week cuz i aint got time to cook em right, but even then you can throw them in the oven, broil them a bit with a good rub and they are still at worst...pretty good!

I'll check that out. there's also a link at bowsite.com to a traditional only (leatherwall i think is the forums name). At this point i'm just getting familiar with the thing, not really "converted". But now that Jim's making me a string, i'm obligated to whack one next season! to be continued.........

Man....I need to move to Kansas.

We got my dad a moultrie infrared from walmart for under 200 bucks. It does ok. I use a leaf river, not a bad cam, but a bit pricey. One note on the moultrie, my buddy took his back to the dealer he got it from to get it serviced after it started acting up. He wouldnt take it back without a receipt (the cam was a gift, he had no recpt) and the guy refused to send it back. Dont know if this is moultrie's policy or his. The guy said "how do i know you didnt steal it?" what a jerk

Wow, late this season to rethink stategy, but there's always next year. How many acres you got? If you can figure out how to keep a buck in place then please PM me cuz i'm dying to know...haha. Do you bowhunt? One great way to take a nice buck is to hunt the early bow season, before hunting pressure starts to set in. Also get them while they are still in their summer feeding pattern. Once the rut starts, there's no telling where they'll go, but food plots are a good start by keeping does around you'll help your odds.
-
Yep, when hogs come to a feeder, your deer leave. Who knows exactly why, my guess is they are so noisy deer just wont associate, or just the smell of them. Trap 'em, shoot 'em, whatever, but they are very intelligent animals and can take a hint. They move around a lot, but you can push them away for a while (depending on how many you have)

Great! And you can't beat wild hog on the grill, make you want to throw your whitetails in the gully.
-
I think a hog forum would be good. They're sorta come and go at my camp. A couple of years ago they got bad and i built a trap and caught about 8 in two weeks. Sometimes you'd catch a sow, and the little ones would be running around outside the cage and then it's .22 time! hahah at any rate, you cant get rid of them but most ppl can manage them. If anyone's interested, i am no means a hog expert, but can give advice on baiting and a cheap trap you can make that works well.

I should post a pic of it. There is a black laminate on the bow i assume is glass. When i shot it years ago, i used a 3-finger leather glove. I could hit pretty decent to around 20 yards if i remember correctly. Do you guys have any tips on aiming? I just shot it so much that i knew how low the tip of my arrow should be in relationship to my target as long as i kept a good anchor point it did ok. I just didnt know if you guys developed your own little tricks to help out. You guys don't know how much i appreciate this. I'm not going to store my compound (heck i just bought a new one) but I just keep thinking what a shame it is to never have even taken anything with that longbow. THANKS A MILLION GUYS!!!! john
