  1. I can relate.....had one hot doe this morning caught up in a chase at 7am. Over the next 4 hours had 8 different bucks hop on her t®ail! Non stop action out there today.
  2. When I was shopping around I just went with Nikon because that's what Dave shoots.:smoke: I got the D-3000 and I'm more than happy with it shooting everything from portraits, sceneries, wildlife and festive occaisions. I chose the Nikon over the Canon just because it looked simpler to opperate to this dumby and they were on sale. When I got it home and took the time to learn it some, there are a whole mess of "in- cam options" to play with including zoomed crops, effects, touch ups, color balance, filters, B&W conversions etc....etc... The 2 kit lenses that came with the package deal were enough to get me started from 18mm-200mm for most all my basic needs, but that doesn't stop me from wanting more glass in my bag. That's something you may want to take into consideration is the lens prices for each model should you wish to upgrade in the future. Now would be a good time to do that research. Enjoy whichever cam you pick and be sure to post some pics!
  3. Nicely done buckee. Be carefull around them old abandoned camp sites....we know you mean no harm but some of the inhabitants may not. Most of these folks are truley in survival mode already and no telling how much even the clothes on your back are worth to them. Not saying they're bad people, but desperate times sometimes bring out the worse in someone. Chances are, like Steve said, they will leave this gear behind and move on when they're forced to leave for whatever reason. Most likely just drifters passing through on the way towards the bigger city where life sustaining necessities are more readilly available....not to mention the safety in numbers the homeless find in togetherness just as we do.
  4. Thought about #1 but I'm trying to use the trunk of the tree i'm on for cover. In my climber that may skyline me. #2- over my head sitting or standing? Gonna look into that Dan,thanx

    Killer deal

I got 2. I wish there were more than one of me.
  6. First let me just say this is my first season primarily hunting from a treestand so this is all very new to me. Ok everyody, maybe you can help me out. 12 o'clock is straight in front of me. I'm a right hand shooter. I tether myself to the tree facing 12 o'clock but this is not where I expect the shot to happen. For my preffered and most likely shot I have to turn to my left and cover anywhere from 8 o'clock to 11 o'clock. This is very comfortable to me. If I have to turn right at all starting at 1 o'clock, my tether (harness)interferes with my draw and anchor point making a shot opp vertually impossible. My elbow hangs up or it holds my shoulder back from reaching full draw. Is this common to only be able to cover just over a 90 degree area or am I tying off all wrong. The harness instructions said to tie off over my head so that's what I do but when I try to sit it practicly holds me off my seat, lol. When I lower it on the tree I can feel the harness restricting my lower right shoulder blade when I ry to draw. I'm a little confused as to what I'm doing wrong up there or if this is normal for a righty to not be able to cover right sided shots?
  7. That's a cow Jeremy. Ugly sucker too.....she's even got udders to feed her calves, lol. Nice one!
  8. WTG Dave! Super buck and nice job on the field photos. Even your pics of dead deer look fantastic! Enjoy the rest of your vacation time and good luck with the gun season.:smoke:
  9. Hey congrats William! Better get crackin' putting on the new addition to the house for the little fella. Just when you thought you could finally relax,lol:toot::toot::toot:
  10. Not sure if you've heard or not Kidd. These are flash units not IR.
  11. Thanks for the report DT, I'm still interested in this cams performance....especially the white flash. Was curious about that viewer display as well. Thanks for being the test guinee pig.
  12. If these are white strobe flash, set one aside to ship to NY as long as you're willing to split them up.
  13. That would be great. I think their IR quality on the WGI cams is better than some other brands 2x's the cost. Doesn't sound like they treated you too unfairly with the exchange for the old Ghost- hope it works out for ya. Bucknasty- sounds like you may have got a bad batch of refurbished Ghosts under a new sheet, lol. That sucks man. I dealt with their customer service once on my IR-4 and they were more than willing to make it right. May want to give them a call.
  14. Yup, last time I checked they didn't have the sample pics up yet and hadn't completed the review on this one. They got them up now. Why do you say that? Pic quality looked pretty good to me especially the white flash which is what I'm interested in. You know something I don't about this thing. The price seems nice for the specs.
  15. Does anyone have one of these or know of a link where I can view pics from one? I'm mostly interested in the quality of night photos it takes with the dual flash.
  16. Last Thursday or Friday Mike. I didn't post it here.....already read the book on what legal shooting light is and knowing what's beyond my target yada yada ya. Didn't think anyone was in the right to tell me any different in this case, or incriminate myself any more than I already have.:angel1: In my book it was a no brainer of what to do but I know some folks would like to argue that point.
  17. Oh man, never thought it could happen to me.....actually, I welcomed the thought of deer running in bow close to me just like in the show "When Animals Attack" especially when I'm hunting. Sounds like a dream come true. Untill last week that is when it became a nightmare instead.:48: While filling my scent canisters the day before, I accidently spilled a good 1/4 bottle of dominant buck urine on my jacket. A synthetic local blend concentrated and recommended to only use by the drops and not the capfull because of it's potency. I didn't think too much about it at the time other than how strong the stink was. I could think of a lot worse scents to have on me that could affect the hunt in a much more negative way...........or so I thought! Entered the woods well before legal light with a little 3 LED headlamp to stear me to my blind as I've done hundreds of times before. About 30 yds away from my blind is a very heavily used scrapeline running the ridge. I looked up towards the blind and saw glowing eyeballs peering at me through the trees. Then I heard some grunts and the deer was coming down the trail right at me. It stopped about 10 yds away and grunted again........that's when all **** broke loose. That sucker charged me like he was auditioning for the 'Running of the Bulls'! He passed by so close I could feel the breeze on my face from him. He stopped behind me.....I turned to look his way and saw the glowing eyeballs again looking back at me. Another grunt and he was charging me like I was waving a red cape at him again......I hit the deck and got a pretty good gash in my hand. When I looked up, guess who's standing there mere feet away grunting again.....? Yup- Toro-Toro!!!:48: Not if I had anything to say about it.:boxing: This situation had the potential to be VERY dangerous so I nocked an arrow and let her rip. Couldn't see my sight pin or the deer as my headlamp lit up my upper bow limb and that was it. At release he made what I'm guessing to be 3 leaps and stopped at the edge of the woods edge bobbing his head at me. Stuck around for about 5 minutes straight before slinking back into the goldenrod. Once the sun popped up I patched up my hand and continued on with the mornings hunt wondering the whole time what the heck was going on.....that's when I remembered the spilled scent on me. On my way out that afternoon down the same trail, I found I wasn't the only one to spill some blood that morning.:fish: Never did recover the deer. Here's a short video of the monster just minutes before the attack. He seems to have an addiction to the urine soaked cotton balls I had flying in front of my cam by the blind over a fresh scrape. Guess he just couldn't get enough of it.:smoke: BTW- BAD IDEA click on pic
  18. Too cool Dave!!! Can't wait to see her first bunny. Now all you need is a colorfull feather duster for Roxie and an eye patch for yourself and you can be a pirate next Halloween, lol.
  19. Great buck Don, very respectable Pa. bowkill! Reminds me of one of our local better bucks.
  20. Might need a panel of judges to rule on this one I popped from the stand this morning. The meaty end of the rat never made it to the stew pot, but this is a contest of tails! Should be something really special by next season,lol:boo::angry::alien: I think it's at least worth patial credit.
  21. Very cool Randy, gonna make a point to catch that show. While your at it you should see if Guiness will recognize your truck post as a new world record for most pics in a single post!:toot:
  22. Finally got one entered for us guys.
