  1. Great shots Jeramie- the family doesn't seem to mind the smell of duck meat at all........ Is that a Christmas tree air freshener in your pocket, lol.:shifty:
  2. Tagged out! I love this late season stuff. Here's the whole story to my 1'st kill of the season for anyone interested. I kinda rushed that story and didn't want to take up any more space on the post I made here so here's a link. http://www.nyantler-outdoors.com/wesolowski-buck.html ...and kill #2 Got out this afternoon for a bit and noticed some good sign of movement on my cams last night and this morning. I slipped back to my blind for the night and about an hour before dark had 2 yearlings come within 10 yds of me. I let them pass and watched as they fed through the creekbottom for the next 1/2 hour. I began to wonder why I let them walk as the shivvers were beginning to set in and I could deffinately use a few days off before ML season. At that point I decided I'd take the shot if they did anything stupid like come back.....what were the odds of that anyhow? Well, actually pretty good, lol. This one came in to 60 yrds or so and bedded down facing me. I dropped the hammer and the little rascal exploded from his bed and took off on a dead run out of sight. I packed up my gear and took chase to find the little button buck piled up 100yds away just about as far as I could see. I was pretty amazed at his reaction after the shot as he took it right at the base of his neck straight on up into his body. His insides were complete J-E-L-L-O. How he managed to even get to his feet is beyond me. So far this dang ML is 6 for 6 over the last 2 seasons and I still have both my tags left for the late season. Freakin' love this gun. All I know is he'll make some nice tender vittles and some tastey peppersticks! Finaly a few days off before I get back after them again!
  3. LMBO- yeah those should be out again soon. Once we get a deep freeze after a good meltdown I'll be looking for them again. Thanks for the kind comments everyone.
  4. Thanks guys. 6 more months of winter to keep practicing..:camera:
  5. Maybe just a teeney tiny bit ............:taped:
  6. Happy B-day Shaun- have a good one bud!
  7. Seen a few venison recipes I'd be hesitant to try in a cookbook I recently got. some of the not so appatizing titles: -Venison marrow on toast -Venison mouffle with brown butter sauce= basically deer lips or jawls -Creamed venison brains in potatoe shells -Venison tongue salad sandwich -Venison kidneys in burgundy wine Think I'd just skip dinner, go with a nice cold beverage and call it a night.:tooth: Unless of course my drink was homebrew venison juices.:nono:
  8. Melted cheddar!
  9. Darn fine buck there Kyle. Congrats on your 1'st. Guess I just assumed you had a wall full of bowkill buck heads just like him. WTG man!
  10. Thanks Mike- I'm just not 100% satisfied with them...., more like 76%. I'll most likely go back and re-shoot it. My whites got blown out and I lost any detail in the shadows. Just another learning curve to adjust to over the next couple months. Uhhhhhhg.
  11. I was messing around a little today with the camera up at one of my favorite little watering holes trying some long exposures. Gotta little crazy with the editing stuff but thought these gave a different look. Probably need to screw with my white balance and exposure comp some or something for my winter shots. Seems a bit more challenging than what I got used to over the summer. 2 different looks I suppose.....probably go back to the originals and see how close to normal I can get these. They got some potential. I never could really find a happy medium I liked so I quit trying at this point.
  12. Nice Mike, was this from your stand? I've been itchin' to get back out with the camera again but lately it's been rain or snow with no in between. Nice to see you still seeing some daytime activity.
  13. What a little cutie! Pay attention dad.....you may learn something.
  14. Very wild piece! Cool thing about knapping is every creation is like a fingerprint......one of a kind never to be duplicated. I had an antler handled flint knife knapped for my ol' man last year by a friend of mine on another forum. Probably one of the most creative gifts he's ever received. Actually sparked some interest for me to dabble in it myself from time to time and do a bit of research. It can be addictive once you start.:smoke:Enjoy.
  15. Thanx for the comments and checking him out everyone. He wasn't my best but a trophy indeed the way this seasons been unfolding for me. Just haven't been seeing much at all this gun season and the rut seemed very short lived in my area at the end of archery. I'm going to do a euro on him and take some better photos today with my Nikon to display together somehow. I don't have any trail cam pics of him yet unless he walked by my last cam I never got around to checking one ridge away from where I killed him. That would be a nice bonus. My guess is he's only a nice 2 1/2 yo. Really small body on him compared to others in the area and all he really has going for him with his rack is width. One thing I found slightly odd is he was working a browse line with 2 other bucks already. Another shooter and a 1 horn spiker. The lack of food sources this year and the recent winter weather seem to have put them in winter bachelor groups already hence the recent lack of sightings. Was just a real nice(crappy) day to do some still hunting and I was fortunate to catch up with this guy. Again, thanks for looking and all the comments.:smoke:
  16. I wish Ben......I'm lucky to afford the processing,lol.
  17. Finally luck was on my side for once this year. After seeing all kinds of bucks durring archery season they seemed to have went underground when firearms opened. This was the 1'st buck I've seen in a while. Had a 19" spread and I think I have his sheds from last season. I couldn't be happier to have nailed this dude with me trusty smokepole. Shot was perfect double lung and he went about 40yds before piling up. I've really had to work for this one and persistance finally paid off.
  18. That's awesome Scott, tell Tyler congrats on a great NY buck! Now it's dads turn.:surrender:
