That's why all the smart ones leave! lol I'm from LI and lived upstate for a while, but I just didn't think I could afford to live anywhere in NYS. We still own the camp and 12 acres in the ADK's, and it bothers me that we're under Albany's thumb. NNY is so radically different that SNY, it's amazing how many people down there are absolutely clueless. I posted similar sentiment following hurricane Sandy, millions of clueless people without a self sufficient bone in their body. Recipe for disaster. I graduated HS on Long Island in 1992, I was on the Rifle Team. The school had (Still has? Mothballed?) a beautiful 4 lane range in the basement, we had a safe full of rifles. Can't even imagine that now. ETA: I forgot to add that my graduating year was the last year the rifle team existed.

The weather here has been surprisingly quiet the past week or so. Pretty typical temps, (high 30's / 20's) and just a few sprinkles/flurries. Turning colder tonight, with 2" - 4" on the way. Forecast looks cold next week....

Never heard of a "Blizzard Bag"? Me neither, until I had kids in school! I guess if the kids do the assignment at home during a closing, they don't have to make the day up.

Congrats ... thats some hunt!! Seems like more & more Bear around every year, I read a 772lb'er killed in PA!! Thats huge. My neighbor got a 250lb'er on the last day of the season. I've seen 2 over the last couple months.

Good Luck Wis Gun Hunters A week into it here, open until 12/1. I hunted all day last Sat Sun Mon, only saw 2 does. Was going to head out this morning, but I got up early and it was pouring rain! It's turned to snow since, and supposed to be cold tomorrow. I'll be out there freezing my tail off! Good luck, be safe.

Childrens Hospital Video..... Yea, these kids are tough cookies that's for sure. Like I said earlier, we got the easy job!!

This is the hospital that I work at, I know several of these kids pretty well. Some of my colleagues have treated these kids since the day they were born. Not only am I incredibly proud to be part of this team, but I also so very grateful for them as my daughter is a patient of Pediatric Endocrinology here. Just thought I'd share, we've got almost 1.7 million views on Youtube! BTW: We've got the easy job in all of this, these kids have the hard part!!

That's not always true, I am living proof. I have an overwhelming sense of responsibility to teach my children the difference between right and wrong. I totally agree with you however, it starts at home and WAY to many people wan tto be a friend to their kids instead of a parent.

This bothers me I'd suspect most Native Americans consider albino wildlife to be "holy". You know us non-Christians! lol
