  1. I knew there were some changes, but I haven't kept up since moving to VT. I was surprised to see the non resident season fishing license drop $20 however!
  2. Holy Moly! I think it's working!!
  3. Trying to post from mobile app ...... Test
  4. Funny you posted this today, I just pulled the card on my camera at my stand site and I caught this guy ..... The photo is a little dark, but (s)he's standing right in the middle of the frame .. may have a rodent pinned or something.
  5. I just picked up a Parker Blackhawk ..... 160lb draw, 320fps. I can only go out 35yds at my place, but I sighted it in in about 10 minutes. I also picked up a case and a target, it came with a quiver and 4 20" bolts and a rope cocker. Guys at the local Bow shop were more than happy to show me the basics and even let my shoot it several times before deciding which one to buy. It's an AR pistol grip platform, came with a scope mounted on a Picatinny rail. I've only shot it about 25 times so far, but I like it quite a bit! ETA: I'd much rather shoot a bow, but an old injury to my arm makes it impossible for me to draw.
  6. Better late then never, finally getting around to putting these pics up. Trailered my buddy Jon's boat to my camp for a quick overnighter, it was his first time there and I got to play guide. Apparently I also got to play photographer ... lol! I caught my fair share thats for sure but Jon really nailed them! The weather held out for a couple hours, but turned sour fast! Despite the weather the bite was on! Needless to say we didn't let the weather stop us from having a great time.
  7. Hey everyone! Hope all everybody's Summer is going as well as mine! I can't believe it's August already. Had a rainy Memorial day weekend at camp with a friend ... trailered his boat and fished HARD! Nailed the largemouth, I'll get some pics up in the photo forum. I tried to commit to using my Kayak as much as possible this Summer and have kept it on my car rack for some time. Countless afternoon paddles, fishing as much as I can. Weather has been off and on. As I've mentioned in the past, my job has an enormous amount of OT available and I often take advantage of it. But I was only scheduled for 9 shifts during the month of July and decided to keep it that way. Took my 3 older kids camping for the first time, needless to say they had a blast and are begging me to go again, hope to squeeze another trip in this year. I also celebrated my 40th Birthday at our lake cabin with the family, I think this was the 37th B-day I was at camp for! I got a really cool Team RT shirt! Watching my kids swim and play like I did as a child is the most precious thing in my life I think, they also caught more fish than they could count. I also took bowhunter safety, enjoyed it quite a bit. I seriously injured my arm as a teen, so I got a permanent crossbow permit. I have private land to hunt this year and put some "Whitetail Mix" seed down and put a camera up about 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing what I got on it! My friend gave me a tree stand last year and I've been practicing setting it up in the backyard. I'm determined to take my first deer this Fall! Well, July is over and I'm back to working like a dog, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Hope everyone is well.
  8. Still cannot post on the mobile app ....
  9. I just bought a rangefinder, and I'm about to "pull the trigger" (Sorry, couldn't resist) on a crossbow.
  10. I hope you made enough to share! LOL! Sounds delightful. We've had a bumper crop here as well.
  11. You got that right!! Took him right to the cutter and he packaged him up really nicely. I packed him on dry ice, which you can buy at the supermarket down there, and he remained frozen solid the whole way home. I'm defrosting ham roast as we speak, found an "Oven Baked BBQ" recipe which looks simple enough that I won't mess it up!
  12. What a great hunt, I cannot believe the wildlife in Florida. I can't wait to do it again! Got him on the run at about 30 yards with my Savage .30-06 right through the shoulder and he dropped instantly. Not the most impressive but I'm proud of the shot considering this was my first big game kill. Saw several others, including a 300lb+ Sow.
  13. Holy Cow!! What a great vacation!! When we left the snow was thigh deep and was all gone when we got home. Stayed with family in South Jersey (15 minutes from DE) and visited the Aquarium across the river from Philly. Once we got south the weather was stellar, a few showers here and there but 95% sunny and warm. Rented a vacation house in Orlando for a week, spent more time in the pool and hot tub than out! Took the kids to Disney, Rainforest Cafe for dinner, and of course all the good mini-golf / amusement type stuff in Kissimee. As much as I hate to fork over one red cent to that greedy mouse, it was worth it to watch my kids have such a great time. Then we spent 10 days with my Mom on the East Coast, fished almost every day, went offshore as well. Didn't catch any giants but tons of Snapper, Bluefish, Pompano, Spanish Mackerel, one Mahi and a Triple Tail. We also harvested plenty of Stone Crab, needless to say we ate quite well! Aside from all the family time, the icing on the cake for me was the incedible Hog hunt I got to experience, killed a ~175lb Boar Hog to boot! I'll post some pics in the big game/exotics room. I gotta tell ya, the Europeans are on to something when they take a "Holiday" ... a week long vacation is nice, but an extended period of time off really gets you recharged and the time spent with the kids is just invaluable to me. It is however, good to be home, and Turkey season is just around the corner!
  14. Just read a warning from F&W in todays paper, between the angle of the sun and the shorter nights, the ice rots from below very quickly this time of year. Still easily 2 - 3' in many places.
  15. -3 here last night! Was -20's near the camp the other night. Winter weather advisory in some areas of the region tonight. Headed to Florida on Sat!!!
  16. Have a safe trip Steve! Man, that sounds like an awesome trek! Enjoy your summer.
  17. Um ..... huh? Sounds great, but how can you stock a gravel pit? lol! Do you raise Wally's?
  18. YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN!!! I posted a while ago in the vacation thread, we're headed down on 3/29 and will be on the road for 24 days! Rented a pool house in Orlando for a week, do the parks with the kids, and then 2 weeks with my Mom on the east coast just north of Vero Beach. My step Father is an avid sportsfisherman and has a couple boats. We'll be fishing and crabbing quite a bit! I have a Hog hunt lined up, on a huge citrus grove. I already have my Thermacell packed! lol!
  19. Well it was a doozer! Got quite a bit of ice at home, and about 2' of snow at work. Storm timing was bad as I wound up staying over night at work. Then got home to much colder weather and had to chip my way in the driveway. think I got about 4 hours of sleep in 2 days! It was -8 when I left for work Fri morning.
  20. Wishing you the best for positive outcome. Keep yer chin up!
  21. Kidding aside, quite the tragedy.
  22. Ditto, Solid 2'+ snowpack in my area. Some areas have less, and hopefully it'll be melting soon. I'd like to hunt some Moose sheds this year.
