  1. Well, looks like I need more guns...... Congrats!! My 3rd daughter is due on Halloween. That'll be #4 for us, I have a 4 year old boy as well. My oldest is 7, and she has more self respect than Miley Cyress ever will. As far as I'm concerned, her Mother and I are the most important role models she has. I'm not even sure if she knows any of these Dim-Wit so called role models. She knows who Katelyn Francis is though.
  2. My son and I were putting our Kayaks in at a local pond the other night to do a little fishing, and as I'm unloading I notice a pair of Bino's sitting on a rock. We were the only ones on the whole pond, but I left them untouched. Pulled out a few hours later and they were still there. I went back the next night and there they were, so I grabbed them. When I got home I realized they are NICE! Swift brand, I priced them new at $469! I posted on facebook, and placed a "Found" sign where I found them, but nobody has claimed them yet. Ever find anything in the woods?
  3. I was wondering about your version of IE as well LETM. I was having the same issues you mentioned, on Firefox as well, but within the past few weeks things seem to be fine.
  4. Well yea, but it's not just sports IMO.
  5. Well that explains why I smell Bacon every time I sign on! LOL!
  6. Yea ... He hates TV as well. IIRC, he's made a post blaming the downfall of society on TV in the past. I understand his point, there are a lot of couch potatoes around, but everyone is not the same. These days with DVR + Netflix/HULU you can watch more than ever with less screen time than ever.
  7. BTW - Football is for wimps, Hockey is for real men! LOL! HAHA!
  8. Ultra, do you feel the same about competitive shooting and tractor pulls?
  9. Frost! Some localized frost here, nothing too widespread. 37 at the house, 31 near the camp at 0445 this morning.
  10. RAIN!!! Still been plenty wet here. Frost and Freeze warnings posted for tonight! High 20's - Low 30's across the region in the forecast.
  11. gas prices on the rise again Still paying $3.49 a gallon for #2 home heating at the pump.
  12. Thats what happens when you eat all your jerky on the way in!!! lol!
  13. I sent Fly a PM with my guess, (However, I don't see it under "sent items"?) I didn't want to hijack from Trevor. I guessed 4.5 y/o based on previous posts and wtnhunt's link. Great page BTW wtn! How about more "quiz" threads like this one from the more experienced guys for us unseasoned hunters?
  14. Wow! We've slowly creeped back up to ~$3.75 around here. Lowest I saw this summer was in NH at $3.45.
  15. Looks great! But it must be a pain to heat at that altitude!
  16. What a day! The weather was gorgeous, left the house at 5:15 it was 44°F and foggy as heck on the river. Fog burned off about 9AM and it was clear blue sky the rest of the day. peeled off layers rapidly and it was 82°F at 3PM weigh in. Landed 14 smallmouth, and lost 3 .. one of which seemed huge. Weighed in 5 smallies for a total of 9.6 lbs. Our largest fish was 2.1 lbs. We placed 9th of 14 teams. Had a great time, we'll probably fish another on Oct 12th.
  17. I agree with your sentiment, and find many so called "role models" (Think Myley Cyrus....BLECH!) to be as vile and sickening as you do. IIRC, you have 3 girls, I do as well .. albeit younger than yours. I feel the same responsibility to install a sense of self worth and confidence in my girls and the same burden to provide a positive example for my son as you do. I work incredibly hard to provide for the family so my wife can be home with them. I volunteer my expertise, often for extended periods of time and at great inconvenience, for the better of my community, the idea of helping others makes me feel good. I have morals, I don't take advantage of others and I know plenty of people who are not Christian and are GOOD people working to make the world a better place. I hope you can see this, because the notion of "you can't be good unless you're Christian" is divisive and doesn't help in any way.
  18. I didn't mean to point out anything other than what I perceived as a strange coincidence, the same thing happening 2 years in a row. I'm a novice hunter, yet to shoot my first deer FTR. I have however, passed on 2 different shots in the last 6 seasons. The first was what I think was a 6 pt Buck that would've made a fine bag but I was unsure I could get a good shot off. Later on my friend and I paced about 35yds to where he was, and turning around we noticed a clear lane to where I was ... I still take a ribbing over that one, but I do not regret passing. I think I'd feel similar to WTNHunter if I couldn't retrieve him. I've also passed on a Doe because I want my first deer to be a Buck. I'm not judging, and I can't say for sure I wouldn't have taken the shot you did ... but you're the one who posted about taking a poorly placed shot and then not wanting to go into the swamp to look for him. Good luck in the future and don't let a little thing like this stop you from posting.
  19. I'm pretty skeptical about these sort of products, but my Thermacell works great. I've only used it 4 or 5 times this summer, once camping during a hot humid spell, combined with some Deep Woods Off, I didn't get bit once .... and the choppers were thick!
  20. Hmmmm, didn't the same thing happen to you last season Scbass?
  21. Will be on the Ct. River all day Sun fishing for Small and Largemouth. Weather looks ideal, buddy has a new boat ... And it's my first day off over a week. This is the first non-kiddie derby I've fished in several years, I'm super excited to go!!
  22. Absolutely sickening! You really want to get fired up? If you're not familiar with the Demarquis Elkins case out of S. Carolina. 17 year old & 14 year old attempt to rob a mother pushing her baby, she's got no money so they shoot the baby point blank in the face. Google it, then sharpen your pitchfork and light your torches.
  23. You've got that right!! Acute lead poisoning.
  24. Bino harness Found a Browning harness on the discount shelf at the local gun shop a couple years ago. It's held up fine, the swivels and clips are still tight and quiet.
