...Mother Nature unleashed her fury in the form of Tropical Storm Irene. She literally carved her name into the landscape here, the damage was widespread. Received 16" of rain in about 20 hours. We had hardly a few minutes warning we were being evacuated by bucket loader, I managed to put PFD's on the 3 kids and my wife grabbed medication (oldest has T1 Diabetes) and we loaded into the bucket and drove through 2' foot deep raging flood waters. Several of my neighbors lost everything, we escaped with a flooded basement.. Had a fantastic evening in the canoe with a buddy and the fishing was great to boot. As we were heading in I landed a nice largemouth, and then proceeded to hook my hand something awful! Wound up in the ER, even with 2cc of Lidocaine, it was still a bugger to get out!

Bow only opens on 10/6 here, but since I don't bowhunt I have to wait until Nov. 10th for rifle season to open. Despite daytime temps into the 80's, it's dropped well into the 40's the past several nights. Love this time of year! Oh man, sorry to hear that. First payment....ouch! Nothing grinds my gears quite like trying to keep a new car looking that way. I have no idea what could cause that kind of damage, but I sympathize. Bought a left over Dodge Grand Caravan new last year. First new vehicle I've ever owned, I noticed some rust on the rear hatch, looks like shoddy paint job rather than damage. The AC evaporator just went, seems to be a fairly common problem in some Dodge/Jeeps. And just for good measure, I seem to have a recurring issue with the pasenger side sliding door motor. Every now and again it will open the door and get stuck in that position. I disconnect the battery and it resets and works fine for several weeks. Of course the new car warranty doesn't cover the evaporater or the paint and I cannot recreate the door issue for the mechanic. Makes me nuts! Good luck.

I sat here with a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye for 10 minutes before I could summon the thoughts to make a post. Like redkneck, I have 2 young daughters and the thought of that pain is indescribable. I am so sorry for you and your family, I hope you can find peace and heal together.

Media was chomping at the bit after the CO shooting, but the only noise was the same old rhetoric from the same old unimportant, un-influential loudmouths. The casino robbery that was foiled by an armed citizen gained a ton of national coverage.

Great time to refinance home Gotta agree with wtnhunt on the ARM, however my sister and her husband initially had an adjustable rate and did quite well. I'm about 5 years into a 30 year fixed and want to refi into a 15 year. I've put some sweat equity into the place (new kitchen) but the market is still down enough that it will asses for just about what I paid for it. We're committed to living from one income as to have Mama home with the babies, so payments on a 15 year would be steep. Thinking that another 30 yr at a lower rate would lower current payments enough to make a couple extra payments a year.
