  1. Leo is right on the money....all my birds will follow the fence all the way to the road, and then cross.....they seem to trust the fencelines much better in Illinois.....I am always scanning fencelines for flock movement...............get them going away from the birds, and the birds will try and play catch up....do lots of content purrs......that drives the gobblers nuts to know the hens are feeding comfortably without HIM....and I usually set up between the flock of decoys, and the road...that way if the gobbler gets wary, then Im closer that he thinks............(decoys facing away feeding< ME < gobblers coming)...good luck..........al
  2. Respected forum member selling a great bow........al
  3. "I just used these here two thumbs to pry my head from my butt"
  4. Yep, fresh scratchings spot for me too.....I'd set up the next morning...and sit tight, and buckle down....if you have a chance, make a homemade blind near the scratchings to blend in better......good luck Ruth, have a great day in the woods...........al
  5. Glad to hear it buddy....great day in the woods for you today....can't wait to see the pics.........al
  6. I laughed so hard after seeing the pic, after the great story, coffee shot out my nose......that is so funny.....great bird, since your good at getting them feathers, can you send Andy (bowhunter56) the neck and small chest feathers, he makes great turkey calls and puts those feathers under the clear glass......thanks again for a great, great story.............al
  7. Thats the real reason to wake up and enjoy the woods........and its breathtaking on how many colors are there to see, esp. in the early morning hours....thanks for the pics, makes a person appreciate it that much more.............al
  8. OMG....what a cutie...I'd go to a photo shop and make a poster of the first one and hang it in the den or garage laminated....totally priceless.......al
  9. Now Im in patiently waiting on this one........Im sure that bird was worth ever water soaked minute..........al
  10. That sure is a pretty bird, some day Ill hunt those birds with the white or cream tipped tails.......very nice..........Andy (bowhunter56) still needs neck and chest feathers if you can send em.......great hunt, in Illinois those hens would of took our birds as far from us as possible..lol..glad yours came your way................al
  11. I have lost more land than gained.....and just being nice to people sometimes does really pay off. My buddy Mark met with me at one of our sons track meets, and at the time, I had a prime place to hunt birds for my tag dates (Illinois gives you a 5 day date to hunt for your applied tag, no other days). Well, someone let another guy in, and I was told not to hunt this season there....back up planned failed on two other properties....but Mark told me if I ever want to hunt with him, he would love to have me out. Me and Mark went out this morning, and had two gobblers really hammer the calls...they were triple gobbling on the roost just by the "hen purrs" provided by Andy's call....Mark hit the box call, sun barely up, their out of the tree and covering 200 yards FAST. We could really only hear one bird, right up to the point they hit the bottom of a hill, approx. 50 yards in front of us in heavy brush...thats when HE spoke out....the gobbler screamed his presence, and cut the other gobbler off, and the second gobbler never made another sound....well, here he come up the hill...drumming and strutting, and gobbling at nothing but purrs and small clucks....Mark did a great job of calling while I positioned the gun.....at 13 yards, ole jellyhead was blue and red, and would not shut up....he was screaming his dominance....thats when I shot him. He weighed in at 22 pounds, 11 oz. (12 inch beard), and 1 1/4 inch spurs......he is soaking in cold water as we speak, chest feathers are on the way to my buddy and favorite call maker Andy (bowhunter56)....best of luck to all this season.....al
  12. WOW.....you guys just shattered my world....what do you mean Santa's not real.........my kids are believing in Santa, and the Spirit of Christmas, and the true Christian meaning as well...have your kids watch THE POLAR EXPRESS.....good movie....let kids be kids....life is too short not to laugh, and watch them leave "carrots" for the reindeer, and cookies for the big guy.....geez....lighten up and enjoy them as kids....could be worse, they could be in a home where they allow 60 year old men marry and impregnate 13 year old girls over their "religion"...no child should be denied a childhood.....Im with your wife on this one......110 percent....al
  13. Thanks JJL......now I can keep my grouping all on one target........lol................al
  14. WOW....Ill be first to get mine on Friday through direct deposit if the social is right.....that is cool..........with 5 kids, it will be a great check....al
  15. You know, every time something doesn't go in the favor of a black person, these hypocrits rear their ugly heads.....I cannot stand Al Sharpton, or Jesse Jackson......everytime I see these idiots on t.v. it makes my skin crawl.....I can remember just a year or so ago, when our famous Jesse Jackson was having an affair with a girl that wasn't even of age....and AL Sharpton is a camera monger who really needs to just stay out of stuff....he will cause a riot if its the last thing he does over the police shooting verdict.....do I think the cops made a mistake...yep....but they went through the justice system, just like all the rest.....so if AL Sharpton ever wonders why he feels burning embers in the back of his head...its me, I can't stand him or Jesse Jackson. al
  16. 1. Lower the poundage 2. Have her widen her stance, and bend the knees slightly, she's locking them legs up, causing her to lean. 3. Draw length adjustment has been discussed... 4. Have her count slowly in her head to keep the bow up after the release, then after 3 seconds, lower to see the impact. 5. Dad,...stand with her, and show her how you stand, and shoot with her, side by side....have her mock your stance....I think its great she is out shooting...give all the positive advise you can...she'll be kneeling over her first deer in no time at all....al

    Im furious

Keep the chin up, and the comments inside buddy....I worked for Ogle County Sheriffs Department 15 years...politics are politics...the ones that didn't get weeded out will fail the mental tests, or polygraph or personal interview.....they always do...and if they make the cut, they will use the Sheriffs Department as a stepping stone, get the PTI and go to the local PD's for more money.....happens all the time...stay determined, and focused....you stay number 1 in your game, and only YOUR GAME...let the others fail..........its dog eat dog in law enforcement testing...remain positive, and stay focused on YOUR GOAL...not the rule benders or the name droppers....I have seen them all............al
  20. Are they packaged in a pack of three.......just curious, I have a guy extremely interested in them...al
  21. Depending on finances.....I would go with a quality pump gun, I personally like the Gamo name, and they have alot of quality guns......so do the Crossmans...Id go with something with more power than a Red Rider if he has shot a .22 already...and get a "spinner" target, esp one that has a specific target that resets them when hit...teaches control of shot placement.....tons of fun..you can't beat a good ole pump up the power Crossman either.....just random thoughts from a dad of 5. al
  22. So sad indeed.........if your depressed, get help....don't get deeper in the cycles of life and not realize there is a light at the end of the tunnel.....prayers sent to the survivors.......al
