Great season 2016-2017 down sonora mexico

Very nice. Congratulations. -
I usually just hunt landowner on our farm and do not have to buy any license. I have never really had much luck with turkeys anyway, like you say they always seem to be one ridge over or in the bottoms just the other side of the property lines. Never tried a big farm or state ground. There are birds in the general area here, the boy that has the property behind us killed a monster bird the opening weekend. Land between the lakes is a little over an our from here. I would have to do some research on it, but from all I hear it is pretty tough hunting birds there. Just don't think I could justify the expense and time involved for overcrowded ground on tight lipped birds. Hoping we can get something in the works to add a little acreage in the future. On the shrooms, currently seeing a lot of mushroom looking fungi popping up from cowpies. Guessing those are not of the human consumption variety. lol

That is a real shame. Would hope the Idaho wildlife folks would make necessary changes to the regs to help keep from wiping out the herd. Been seeing a LOT of black vultures here the past 3 or 4 weeks, unfortunately they are taking a toll on babies and from what I have read will even kill a momma doe during the birthing. Tennessee recently adopted and passed legislation stating they will not enforce federal laws regarding the killing of black vultures. Had about 50 crowding around a momma cow and a new calf a couple weeks ago. Been pretty poor fawn crops here the past couple years, still in a liberal antlerless zone though.

Congratulations Dave. Only way I have done wild turkeys has been breasted out and low and slow on the smoker.

Congratulations Frank. Looks like a real nice bird.

Sounds like a fun hunt. Congrats Will.

That is a real nice boat Corey. Bet that merc puts it on plane real quick, would make a great boat for skiing too, could use a few more seats for that though.
-
Congrats to Bailey. Nice bird.

Sure we have some morels around here, along with a lot of other fungus. I don't know the difference between them though and don't eat shrooms. Good luck getting those henned up birds in closer Frank. With the hardwoods beside us gone, so are any close birds. Closest gobbles to our property I have heard have been at least a half mile off our property, pretty pointless to even try to call them.
-
Turkey hunting in TN is legal from 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset. Listened for a good while over the weekend and heard several birds early in the morning while drinking coffee, but nearest gobbles were no closer than probably 3/4 of a mile away. Well off our property, did not even waste my time trying.

See that a lot, pretty well everytime I look online, but not seeing a rise in spam. ip addresses indicate they are from different locations.

Yep, looks like fun Martin. Time well spent. If I can catch some better weather I will try to get my 5 year old out. Most of where I suspect we would find anything is underwater right now, course as warm as it is here now the dadgum water moccasins are gonna be very active.

That is very cool Frank. Congratulations.

LOL. Good to see you check in Jerry. Not sure how many days here until the Sept archery opener, it is always the 4th Saturday in Sept. I know I need to get my crossbow in and have it worked on soon. Might be an interesting summer here. Lots of things changing, hardwoods that were beside us on our east side are for the most part gone and will likely be fenced pasture with cows on it this coming fall. Gonna have to see how the deer adjust their patterns to the changes. Have a few survivors that I got pics of that I hope will stick around and get good looks at them in the velvet stages. I still have 2 cams out from last year I have not pulled. My clover plots were shot last fall, but did nothing with them. Need some major work on the main field we hunt, planning to plant about 3 acres of beans and then in the fall clean about a third to half that for clover plots. Also want to plant some beans in the bottom, but gonna have to dry out a LOT. Hoping to pick up a 6 ft tiller this year, will make for much better soil prep than the old disc I have that is older than me. Recaged all our fruit trees about 2 or 3 weeks ago to over 6 ft tall. Afraid we lost one apple tree, either choked out or deer chewed the limbs too much where it had outgrown the cage or combination of the two, the other 8 apple trees I think are ok. The 6 pears are looking good, should be big enough 2018 fall to give some fruit.

New duramax sure looks good with the new power and torque ratings significantly higher than last years model. We were looking last year at possibly getting a new hd truck, salesman(a kid) at the lot when we looked briefly did not know a thing, told me the 2017's would be the same as the 2016's, was he ever wrong! Anyway weighing out the pro's and con's of gas versus diesel in 2500 trucks and honestly not seeing the advantage of the diesel when the gearing for the gas trucks puts the towing capacities in like equipped virtually the same. Have a trailer rated at 14k and plan to move some equipment from time to time, either gas or diesel models should pull it fine. Sure the diesel with the 6 speed allison would get better mpg's, but then diesel typically runs higher than gas. Really the biggest concern/question I have is what kind of expense comes along with maintaining the duramax versus a gas engine. I do my own routine maintenance and typically do my own repairs on our diesel tractors and our cars and trucks, but from all I have heard and read over the years some of the parts on the gm duramax equipped trucks are astronomical and sure the filters and fluids will be higher than the those for the gas. Can anyone here that has a duramax shed any light on the routine maintenance costs and typical issues upkeep expenses?

LOL. Have gotten those calls here plenty of times, although has been a few years back. Last time we got one did similar to you with saying the call was being traced. Catrina had a call on her cell yesterday afternoon from a number she did not recognize, she just kept saying hello, then reverted to saying no hablo or si, eventually the guy on the other end was laughing.
-
Should have gotten them by now, check your spam folder if you haven't gotten them. If for some reason you still have not gotten them let me know.

Maybe just a little opinionated? lol

Pulled one cam today, and checked the card. Had a bachelor group there just this morning, with one buck holding one side(had both sides a few days prior), one buck still with both sides and a couple others with clean pedicles. So looks like they are dropping them here right now.

Thanks Anthony. I am not a member of the Tennessee cattleman association. Not sure the requirements, I know some of those associations the dues are ridiculous and you have to have so many animals. We currently only have 21 animals on our place, of which 3 are horses. Man I buy my hay from has over 200 momma cows, he is a member of a couple different cattle associations, he was telling me that he had to take a test and pay pretty hefty dues but they do help him out with substantial discounted rates on anything associated with his operation.

Honestly did not even know he was still alive. Had some great music, no doubt. Last link Martin posted there reminds me of the Back to the future movie.
-
Congratulations Al. Funny how they can sneak in on you like that. Usually seems like they are more noisy than most other animals in the woods.

Had that here a few years back with them saying they were the irs. The idea of them burning succeptible older folks like my mother really gripes my ....... Think the next one I get asking for my address to send me an overnighted check that I might just give them our sheriff's name and the address for the sheriff's dept! Then call him and give him a headsup.
