  1. Can't beat that. Awesome deer and congrats!!!!
  2. well i have trail cam pics this year on the same day with two small bucks cleaned up and two bruisers still in velvet..Then just today I got the two big boys cleaned up and two more youngsters still in velvet. I don't think there is any rhym or reason to who goes first...
  3. sureshot Last year I had a big buck at 38 yards(ranged after shot). I guessed 45 yards and let it fly. I hit him and passed through him. He didn't jump buck or nothing just took off flying. Didn't find blood for about 30 yards then it started coming out for about 300 then we saw where he stopped and it went completely dry(he probably licked it shut). Needless to say I searched for two straight days and never found him. My buddy ended up killing him in late muzzloader. He had the wound high and back on him. It had completely healed shut, but no hair on either side. I hit high and back. At the time of the shot I thought I stoned him....He must have jumped my string. The arrow was good and red, but had fat on it....No smell...That spot was high and back. Just past midway back on him and I have no idea how it didn't bust his spine when I got to look at him when my buddy killed him...So that dead spot it high and back a little bit from my experience. Now given this buck in late dec dressed at almost 200 lbs so he was a brute and had some strength in him. Not sure if a young doe would have made it through like he did.......Good luck in your search...
  4. Just giving everyone a heads up that I splurged on this camera and man was it worth it! This thing takes pics so fast with no delay and the deer don't have a clue it's there. No red glow. Literally it takes a pic anytime something moves. No joke guys I had literally 200 pics of two bucks in less than 5 minutes!!! Needless to say I've learned to put the delay on there, but I've never seen a camera like this. It also picked up the farmers tractor literally at over 100 yards. I know you might think I'm nuts about 100 yards but I promise it did....I'm not sure if the heat sensor picked up the tractor b/c it was so hot or what, but that's insane...also took 480 pictures and still had 88% battery life left!! If you got some extra cash I highly recommend this camera....
  5. I would fall out of my chair if he didn't break 140 gross...good looking deer.......
  6. here's the pic of that other 8 i was talking about...
  7. he's gonna be a dandy in a few years!
  8. you guys can check out my trail cam pics in the photo/video section..Found another good 8 and it's updated with my 12 without velvet!
  9. I'm seeing better deer this year than in the past, but it's due to our management efforts. Our crops are gonna come off early this year...Im hoping for my best year yet.....
  10. Well he dropped the velvet and he still looks like a shooter to me;) Orginally I thought this was the same buck that I posted before but you will notice the difference in the brow tines of the two..Pretty sure we passed on him last year. He added about two inches of tine length this year... See the brow tine difference in these two 8's... Is it Oct 1st yet...........
  11. After watching that I'm not sure they will be able to score him as a typical, but regardless I've never seen a main frame that big....I mean could you imagine seeing that in the woods.... Better yet god forbid you missed him!!!!!!!!
  12. Well I got some more good trail cam photos....I got one buck that I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to let him walk. 9 pointer with about 22-24 inches inside spread. About 8-9 inch G-2's and good 3's...Lacks on one brow tine though. Great mass. He's 3.5-4.5 but I got pics of at least two other 10's and one 12 that just has me foaming at the mouth...It is Oct 1st yet!!!!!!!!
  13. I can't wait I'm checking mine this weekend!!!!!
  14. Well I can see we got plenty of ppl on good places for deer..... Team Name Ideas: Racks Up Stickers and Kickers The Huntin Club Herd Management Pass Thru Crew String Music Team Summit Just some names of the top of my head.....
  15. well we will see. I orginally bought the cuddeback capture, but it's backordered til dec 15. So I looked at this test and I splurged on the Reconyx rapid fire convert cam......That thing crushed everything in the tests in terms of field of vision and trigger speed. I get it tomorrow and once I get pics I will let you guys know what I think
  16. SRA-I've notices over the years that you've posted great bucks year after year. Just out of curiosity how much land are you managing and what are the attitudes of your neighbors around you..... Hoosier
  17. whoa pass....SRA your a better man than I am:eek:
  18. Yeah you gotta pay attention to the action you are seeing. Like last year the rut hit almost two weeks earlier that the previous years where I was at. I had a bucks running does in the 3rd week in Oct and by the end of the first week in Nov the "peak" was past....
  19. I would cal him 4.5, but on the rack I'm gonna go about 115. Velvet makes them look a few inches bigger.....Either way if he's 4.5 shoot him in my book unless you got your eye on something bigger b/c his genetics aren't that good if he's truly is 4.5 years old....
  20. He's got a good body on him that's for sure.
  21. That deer is at least 4.5 probably 5.5-6.5....Look at the definition in his body......I'd whack him for sure after seeing that body.....MMMMMMMM I can taste the snack sticks now.....
  22. I would say that is the same genetics but not the same deer...
