  1. Hunted five hours in showers and only a forked horn sighting to show for it. Rain through noon tomorrow. Gonna head back to the woods at two.
  2. Hunted three hours yesterday evening but didn't see anything. Hunted through rain showers for four hours and only had a doe run by at 9 this morning,
  3. Last weekend of blackpowder. I hunted a new spot on a creek crossing between three thickets last night but didn't see anything. I knew the temps were gonna get close to freezing last night and with the wind perfect for that spot, I left my stand overnight. Got on stand before daylight this morning and had an owl fly through right before sunrise. Fifteen minutes after legal shooting light, a 120 class eight point walked down the trail 10 yards from my stand. With me only having one buck tag left, I just filmed him. An hour later, a smaller 8 point made his way behind me. A few minutes later, three otters jumped in the creek under my stand and began playing and feeding. Got them on film as well. At 9:30, a lone doe made her way under my stand and across the creek. Kept hoping that she had a big one following her, but she didn't. Got down at 10:00 and now I'm watching football before I head back out at 2:00. Sorry for the long paragraph, but for some reason I can't hit return from my laptop on this forum??? My two week vacation is off to a great start!
  4. Can't wait! Three more hours and I'm off for two full weeks! I may have to start the blog up for this vacation!
  5. My videos are mainly for me and my family. When I come in from the woods, the first thing they ask me is if I killed anything. The very next question is "Did you get anything on film?". I really enjoy capturing the deer on film whether it is by still shot or video. That being said, if a monster buck comes walking towards me, the camera is probably not going to come on. Anything else, I'd be happier getting it on film without getting a shot than I would killing it without filming it.
  6. Just started self filming this year. The camera caused me to miss a shot opportunity on a hog(just moving through too fast) but I actually got my 9 point bowkill on film. I even missed my first shot and he ran to the edge of the screen and then walked back through for the killing shot. It was at first light so the footage isn't that great, but it added a little bit of extra excitement to the hunt. I'm hooked. Will try to film every hunt from here on out.
  7. Seeing a lot of big deer being killed during our blackpowder season. Friend of mine shot a 150 class opening morning. The overnight temps are still in the 50's and we're having a lot of rain, so maybe there will be more wallhangers making it through blackpowder season than normal. The rut normally starts up the first couple of weeks in November and I'll being in the stand for several all day sits then. Got fingers crossed that I at least see one of the big boys on their feet and still breathing.
  8. We're in the lead guys! Let's keep the points coming! I go on vacation next week for two full weeks. Might not upgrade my score but will definitely be looking to shoot something bigger!
  9. Ya'll are welcome to come on down to Oklahoma? We're a two buck state and I have over 3,000 acres that I can bring a guest on! LOL
  10. Just entered my 13 points. Let's keep it going guys!
  11. Tag says 9 point, but one point was just a hair less than one inch.
  12. Shot a 9 point this morning. Main frame 8 with a kicker off the back. It looks like its over an inch but I'll put a tape to it tomorrow. I judged him at about 120 inches but I'm not sure if he'll push that or not. A great bowkill for me either way. Will try to upload some pics later tonight and enter him in the contest tomorrow.
  13. Hunted hard Saturday, Sunday and Monday but only have a small buck sighting to show for it. The nighttime temps were in the mid 60's and daytime temps were close to 80. Add to that a East wind that kept swirling and it wasn't a good day to be in the woods. Taking my son, Chase, this weekend for youth gun season. Hopefully, he'll get one Saturday and then I can bowhunt Sunday.

    Doe Double in MO

    Nice shooting rhino! Congrats!
  15. Planning on taking a vacation day tomorrow to install my wife's new refridgerator. Of course that will be done AFTER my morning hunt. Tonight's the last night in the 50's for over a week, so I plan on being in the stand before daylight.
  16. If the age fits...........:poke:
  17. Have had a lot of good experiences in my 10+ years and have had a lot of bad ones. I show up for the deer contest every year but that's about it. Facebook is where I keep up with most of my old friends on here.
  18. Was 10 yards from putting some points on the board. Four doe crossed a skidder lane about 50 yards from me. They were headed at an angle so I was hoping to get about a 35/40 yard shot just behind me. But they hit the trail that I walked in on and started following it back towards my buddy who was 150 yards away. Suddenly my buddy shot. I could still see all four doe so I wasn't sure what he was shooting at. I looked up just in time to see a decent buck jump into the thicket out in front of my friend. After the shot, I was certain that the doe would be heading my way, but noooooo. The sorry suckers wanted to investigate the noise. They made it within 30 yards just so my buddy could add another miss to his record! Then, instead of bolting back my way, they slowly made off directly behind me. The only good thing that I took from this hunt is that my scent didn't spook them. The wind was blowing pretty hard right at them. Could be my being 30 feet up the tree or could be my scent regiment. Either way, it was a fun hunt.
  19. Passed up on a young five point last night. Just got through watching my buddy miss twice. He's set up 150 yards from me and he's missed a nice eight and a doe. I saw the deer but they wouldn't come close enough to me.
  20. Congrats clrj! Love the before and after pics! LOL
  21. Unfortunately, I've got some additional work at my tire shop Saturday so I'll be skipping my morning hunt. I'll be in the woods Saturday evening and both sits Sunday.
  22. Good luck SQ. Sounds like you've got him patterned.
  23. Our season started this morning but I can't get out until Saturday. Really hoping to put a doe on the ground before Sunday evening!
