  2. Re: Rocket Sidewinder??????? I shot the Sidewinders this past year and they did well. As noted above you should be ready for a rebuild after shooting them. The blades will bend if contacting something solid. hangunnr
  3. Re: My Buck Officially Made B&C That's great news. Mucho congrats to you. hangunnr
  4. Re: Knee Surgery in my future I also have had a knee worked on. They removed about 20% of the cartilage in my left knee. I was able to put weight on it the next day and was walking without crutches within a week and a half. You'll be amazed how much better you'll feel after having it done. Good luck!! hangunnr
  5. Re: Need a Pocketknife I've been carrying CRKT knives for the last 5 or 6 years and can't say enough about how good their blades are. I've got two from the M16 series that are very nice pieces for the money. hangunnr
  6. Re: Handgunner ??? What do you think of the sight picture with the new sights? I haven't shot mine with the new sights as of yet. Maybe this weekend. hangunnr
  7. Re: The Big One Is Home [ QUOTE ] hangunner This official scorer told me that they do not check the skull cap unless it's an unusual circumstance. For example if you brought it in and both main beams had a wobble to them they would check the skull cap to see if it's attached. Other than something like that they don't. [/ QUOTE ] Thankyou for the clarification. I guess the story I got was nothing but bunk...... hangunnr
  8. Re: The Big One Is Home That's a beauty for sure. I've got one question for anyone. Will they officially enter a score if they can't see the skull plate? I've heard they won't consider it for the books if they can't see that the skull plate hasn't been altered. This is one reason I never entered my Y2K buck. I wasn't willing to have the mount disturbed. Anyone know for sure? hangunnr
  9. The Smith 1911s are some very nice pistols. A little over priced IMO but still a nice piece. Of the two choices listed I'd go with the Springfield. They really cleaned up their act when Kimber started claiming a lions share of the 1911 market. The quality of their guns is generally pretty good these days. hangunnr
  10. Re: Handgunner ??? I've got a ghost ring sight set on one of my match .45s. I like them for very fast shooting but think they fall short for precise shot placement. I think you'd run into problems with the length of the Encore barrel. To be able to get any kind of accuracy you'd have to have a rather small ring. I feel this would be more of a problem than it would be worth. I think you'll be pleased with how well the fiber optic sights look on the barrel. hangunnr
  11. Re: sweet 17 scope I've got two of these scopes. For an entry level priced scope they are very impressive. I have the 2-7X models. IMO they are the best scope going in thier price range. hangunnr
  12. Re: my new toys of 05 Looks like you've got some shooting to do. Now you get to have fun trying to wear them out. hangunnr
  13. Re: Lets see your better halves. That's better, thanks. hangunnr
  14. Re: New Rifle project 280AI, I had Jeff build my .243 model Seven, back when he lived here in Indiana. Sure wish he'd of stayed here. The bolt mod is a nice option. It'll be **** for stout after he's done. hangunnr
  15. Re: New age muzzleloading I've said this before but for those with a short memory or those new to this forum......... Leave Toby Bridges OUT of the discussion. If Toby chooses to come back to this site and discuss his situation in a mature and professional manner then he is more than welcome. NO ONE but Bridges knows exactly what happened the day his Savage puked so any input by anyone but him is purely speculation........... With that said, any further posts mentioning or quoting Toby Bridges will be deleted as soon as I see them. hangunnr
  16. Re: It\'s official 3 turkey seasons in Indiana Directly from the IDNR website. Wild Turkey Spring April 27, 2005- May 15, 2005 1 bearded or male turkey per season Fall - Archery* Oct. 1, 2005 - Oct. 23, 2005 One bird of either sex per hunter each fall Fall - Firearm* Oct. 19, 2005 - Oct. 23, 2005 One bird of either sex per hunter each fall * Areas for fall turkey seasons will be determined after 2005 spring turkey harvest No more than one bird of either sex may be taken in the fall turkey season, regardless of method ------------------------------ "No more than one bird of either sex may be taken in the fall turkey season, regardless of method" This statement straight from the website looks pretty clear to me as to how many fall birds may be harvested. The rumor has been that the fall seasons will most likely be in the southern half of the state on private land only. We'll have to wait till mid summer for more details. hangunnr

  19. Re: Smiths newest game hammer [ QUOTE ] looks to me to be a legitimate 150-200yd hunting gun. S W E E T.................. [/ QUOTE ] S W E E T............ INDEED ......... The performance of this chambering sure looks like it ought to make a good long range performer. Question is.............just how many handgunners will be able to handle the horsepower. hangunnr
  20. Re: Looking for a new .22 Auto pistol.. Suggestions? I'd stay away from the Smith 22s unless you're looking at a model 41. I've got a model 22A that is frankly a POS. I wouldn't ever own another. The Sig Trailside is a lesser version of the venerable Hammerli 208. While I've not owned the Sig version of this pistol I do own the Hammerli and can't say enough about the quality and accuracy. From what I've heard of the Trailside it is a winner. The Brownings are good guns. I still have the first Buckmark that I purchased many years ago. I like the grip and action of the Browning. The trigger leaves a little to be desired but is just fine for casual target shooting or hunting. I don't think you could go wrong with either the Browning or the Sig. I hope you have alot of patience if you deceide to buy the Smith. hangunnr
  21. Re: Handgunner, Encore MZ Pistol Came across the sights at a local gunshow. If you find a set designed for a Encore .45-70 handgun barrel they should work just fine. hangunnr

  23. Re: Handgunner, Encore MZ Pistol I found 60gr by volume of 777 3F under a 240gr XTP in a T/C mag sabot to be the ticket out of my gun. I do clean after every shot when shooting for accuracy. I don't hunt with a fouled gun so I see no point in practicing with one. I would be sure to let the barrel cool down after every shot. It's not gonna get as hot as a centerfire barrel will get but the POI will change if the barrel is allowed to get too warm. I found no noticable difference in choice of primer. They all shot pretty much the same. I'll be looking for a new load this year seeing as my sabot of choice isn't available any longer. I'm leaning towards the 200gr Shockwave if I can get it to group. I just got a set of fiber optic sights for my barrel. If I can get out this weekend I'm curious to see how they look when actually shooting them. Please let us know what load you end up using. hangunnr
  24. Re: You\'d almost think......... [ QUOTE ] If Charles comes in for turkey this year...he can have at it on his own!!!! [/ QUOTE ] Boy, can ya feel the love there......... I hope to be able to make it east again this spring. hangunnr
  25. Re: Super Dakota 44 Mag? The Dakota's are inported by E.M.F. I don't have a listing for any made in .44mag. The other calibers with a blue cylinder, color case-hardened frame with brass triggerguard will top out at about $400 in new condition. hangunnr
