  1. Re: A new addition. My first Springfield was a mil spec, plain jane too. I would hate to think about all the cost of the ammo it has digested over the years. hangunnr
  2. Re: encore ml pistol barrel Yeah I've got one. Here's a link to check out. Encore ML pistol I don't have time to eloborate now. If you have any questions I'll be back this evening. hangunnr
  3. Re: Turkey hunting The shot containers I've had were pretty brittle. I don't recall having any problems with plastic fouling. hangunnr
  4. Re: taurus semi auto [ QUOTE ] how much for a satin nickle in 90% ++? [/ QUOTE ] My book says to add $45 for the satin nickle finish. hangunnr
  5. Re: Turkey hunting I've played with some of the Speer shot containers loaded in handgun cartridges. The performance was awful. The problem with this type of set up is that there will be spin imparted on the shot capsule. This will give you some very nice donut shaped patterns. Not exactly what you want in a hunting load. Unless of course you're hunting donuts........ hangunnr
  6. Re: LOOKY Here! .243 You Chose??? Why not take a standard model 7 or 700 and have it customised to your specification? I couldn't find what I wanted when looking for a .243 so I had one built. hangunnr
  7. Re: Here\'s Some Big Ones! Hey Harry how about a couple pics of you standing there with your "mounts". hangunnr

  10. Re: Cheap Cure For Crud Ring Disease How about we leave the childish picking at each other out of the discussion......... hangunnr
  11. Re: Smokeless Shooting Technology Rises "This hybrid is a cartridge gun, with solely a frontloaded projectile. " Completely agree.... A gun with this system may well test the sense of humor of a DNR officer. I gotta wonder if you couldn't take a .45-70 Encore barrel and accomplish the same thing. Load up some primed cases with a proper powder charge and wadding then stuff a .45 cal bullet down the bore on top of it. hangunnr
  12. Re: PMC Ammo Can't say whether or not this a common trait inherent to PMC ammo. The .45 match loads I've had did not exhibit this. PMC offers some really outstanding match ammo for the .22 lr and .45acp. I haven't shot any other calibers though I would suspect them to supply a decent quality load. Question is, How did it group out of your gun? hangunnr
  13. Here in Indiana shooting a deer with a 9mm would be an illegal act. I took a look at the Missouri regs and couldn't find whether that caliber is OK or not. I would most definately check with the proper authorities prior to heading to the field with one. With that said.......... I don't feel the 9mm to be anywhere near enough power to take deer sized game. Sure, with an expertly place shot you can kill a deer as dead as a 300 Win mag would kill one, but there are much better choices out there. hangunnr
  14. Re: taurus raging bull ? The Taurus guns of today are a far cry from what they were 10-15yrs ago. While they may not be as ascetically pleasing as some other brands, they do perform well. hangunnr
  15. Re: springfield armory I don't own an XP but have seen them to be quite popular with the IDPA crowd. The compact size in a .40 cal should be a very nice PD gun. hangunnr
  16. Re: Indoor Range Ammo? Midway as well as most supply houses offer the Speer Lawman brand ammo which is one of if not the cheapest commercialy loaded ammo available. Most indoor ranges that I frequent are shying away from all lead or even exposed lead ammo. They are stipulating a full patch bullet only. hangunnr
  17. Re: Cheap Cure For Crud Ring Disease The primers Joe is pointing ya'll toward are the Rem. 209-4. I've been shooting these for about 6 months now and they don't eliminate the crud ring. At least not in my guns. hangunnr
  18. Re: taurus semi auto My issue of the Blue Book lists your Taurus from $200 in 70% condition up to $465 in 100% condition. Slightly higher if it wears a satin nickle finish. BTW, Welcome to the Realtree forums... hangunnr
  19. Corbon's 135gr at 1325 fps isn't hot enough for you? Just what exactly are you looking for? The .40 wasn't designed as a high perf. cartridge. It was developed as a lower powered version of the 10mm auto. Seems to me that the .40 S&W does exactly what it was originally designed to do. hangunnr
  20. Re: Reloading question- Case Trimmers I like the Dillon electric trimmer. It's a nice tool to have if you do any volume reloading. hangunnr
  21. Re: S&W 500 Legal for hunting in IL??? Welcome to the forum 13littleones!!! hangunnr
  22. Re: S&W 500 Legal for hunting in IL??? originally posted by SavageTaylor; [ QUOTE ] how much difference there is between the .44 Mag & the .50 Mag in noise & in force of impact? [/ QUOTE ] Not much difference in the noise level but the 500 will hit the backstop much harder. I personally don't enjoy shooting big bores indoor. The muzzle flash and concussion can be somewhat distracting. [ QUOTE ] wondering if we also need to upgrade the backstop? Our Range is underground in the basement of the clubhouse & has a backstop of sandbags frontede by strips of heavy conveyor belt material. [/ QUOTE ] I'm assuming the conveyor belt mat'l is used to prevent back splash, right? It should be OK. Depending on how deep the sand bags are will dictate how much abuse they'll be able to withstand. You may want to look into building a more sturdy bullet trap for a couple of the firing lanes. Some of the older designs used for indoor ranges were never intended for some of the high energy rounds that are out there now. hangunnr
  23. Re: Being a Sinistral Handgun Owner Only one of the guys that I've shot with in the past was a lefty. He didn't have any problem with the brass flying past his face. I can't remember off hand who's holster he was using. hangunnr
  24. Re: Kimber Handguns... I like the Kimber firearms. IMO they offer the best factory gun out there. This .40 is still very tight after many thousand major power factor loads. hangunnr
